Fine. So I guess I'm just flossing for the rest of my life now.

The smelliest, grossest part of your mouth is in between your teeth if you don't floss regularly. Subhuman not to.
-
I carry around mint flavored disposable flosser pick thingys in my truck. I floss after I eat pretty much anything.
-
If I'm bleeding does that mean it's working
-
Sometimes I lie to my dentist about my flossing habits :frown:

Don't floss.
waterpik
Have one of these. Rarely use.
Brush? once, maybe twice a day (never miss a morning).
Haven't had a cavity in years. Yes, regular checkups.
-
I've used a waterpik for the last five or six years (same one). i like it, don't like flossing (squeamish about it)

Does it hook up to the faucet?

has its own reservoir - mine looks like this (probably old)

kinda awkward at first and you kinda just "drool out" the water

Wanna know what I really like? Don't care. I'm going to tell you anyway. It's the feeling you get when you go to the dentist and they brush/ clean your teeth with the scrubber and that really thick paste stuff. Also, when I'm rich, I'm going to get all my front teeth replaced with beautiful veneers like my boyhood idol Jalen Rose did when he got to the NBA. It's going to be great, and so will my smile!

I think I would get the one that you hook up in the shower. That way your drool and water and plaque and stuff could just roll down you into the drain.
-
forgot they make shower heads

Seriously? What the hell is that thing?
-
pumps a stream of water as you run it along your gum line, knocking off food particles and other bad guys
-
Haven't been to the dentist in several years. Haven't flossed in several years. (Don't like it when flossing causes my gums to bleed).
Brush at least once a day, if not more.
No probs with my teeth for many, many years. Any reason I should change?

Woah. You own cool things.
-
I feel like it wouldn't get in between teeth like flossing does but maybe it would. (look at me becoming a flossing nerd)

If somebody caught me using that I feel like I would look ridiculous.

i have good teeth but bad gums, it has helped immensely
-
Ok
-
if your gums are bleeding more than very occasionally when you're flossing, that's bad
-
I only floss once a year, and it's immediately before the tailgate for the biggest home game of the year.

I have my answer, see previous post.

I also make sure to pop 4 or 5 tabs of warfarin and wash each one of them down with a shot of everclear.

metalhead also has his finger on the pulse

Today was like the fourth time I've done it seriously in my life.
-
Did someone just admit to not brushing at least twice a day? That's disgusting and I hope you never get close to anyone when you talk to them.

If you brush every morning, but forget sometimes at night, how would that effect your breath any differently throughout the day?
-
Three times a day brusher and once a day flosser. I lived with a dentist for a couple of years and he'd tell me all of the horror stories he'd see (anonymously). It really changed my outlook on things.

You better not throw these on the ground when you're done. Not accusing, but that is an obnoxious habit of many who carry those around.

Well, your gums bleeding every time you floss seems like a pretty good reason for concern.
-
are toothpicks bad for you?

Some girl in my class last night told me about how she got proposed too because her then-boyfriend didn't grab a toothpick after dinner. :dunno:
-
Lot of crap-mouthers round these parts apparently.
-
I am very trash considerate
-
The bleeding should go away with regular flossing. Also, some of you need to take it to the heart health thread.
-

Yes. It's really not that surprising, though.
-
I use these after dinner every night. And I throw them away!!

those are a big PITA
-
It's just a whole lot quicker and easier to just use the standard floss wrapped around my fingers. You get so much more control that way.
-

I am a regular flosser but when I go to the dentist the dental assistant usually causes some gum bleeding. They instantly tell me to floss more but I ask them why they just assaulted my mouth. Sometimes its like they are trying to rip my head off via flossing they are going at it so violently.
-
People of goEMAW, please brush your teeth at least twice daily and get a job where either a) you have dental coverage that pays for two cleanings per year or b) you earn more than the poverty level and you can at least go to the dentist once a year to get your teeth cleaned and have a checkup.
Thank you.
Gonna win 'em all!
-
Nahh nahh - flossers, let me see you rollin your rims
Ballers, helicopters, bikes, and Bourbans
It's on us, C-M-R are millionaires
Let 'em know it's flossin season everywhere

They don't bleed with every flossing. Seems to happen only when I floss before bed after drinking a lot. I think the pak effect makes me floss too aggressively. :dunno:

Seriously, though, guys. This thread would have been pretty good Auburn bait last week, but it is just sad. Floss your teeth. Your gums will feel great once you get all of the disease out of there and they stop bleeding daily (should take about a week).

Oh man, I'd have been all over, "You guys really should floss your TOOTH."

Some say bad breath comes from the back of tongue but Im pretty sure it's the crap rotting between teeth.
It only takes a few missed floss sessions for me to notice bad breath creeping up, so imagine never flossing and all the nastiness building up.
-
pretty sure it's the back of the tongue
-
Had the first positive flossing experience of my life tonight. Ditched the fork thingy's and went old school; wrapped it around the fingers and really went to town
-
I'm flossing RIGHT NOW!
you guys inspired me.

So you goddamn super hero's really floss every single night, huh?
-
I floss after every meal where I actually chew solid food. I can't not do it. Doesn't feel right.
-
guess I have a death wish. from the internet so must be true:
When you floss, you help prevent your gums from becoming inflamed. That's a good thing. What is happening when your gums are inflamed is that you have a chronic bacterial infection in your mouth. This harms your arteries through two mechanisms: the bacteria find their way in to your arteries and hang out (causing plaques), and your body mounts an immune response to the bacteria in your mouth, causing inflammation (which in turn can cause your arteries to narrow). This makes it hard for your heart to do its job and can lead to heart disease.
There is some debate about how many years you can gain with heart disease. Dr. Perls says 1.5 years, while Dr. Roizen says 6 years. Both of these doctors are gerontologists (aging docs) and have popular books on aging and life expectancy (see reviews: Living To 100, RealAge and You! Staying Young). Who is right? It doesn't matter. Flossing is good for your gums and good for your heart, so we should all just do it.
