"We don't have the personnel to work against that emulates the speed and the quickness and the strength and the size that they present," Snyder said.
your own coach thinks y'all cant keep up..
-
I doubt he said "y'all"
-
Why is it roll DAMN eagle and also roll DAMN tide?
-
i guess you'll (y'all?) be pretty nervous if this game is close then, huh?
-
I doubt he said "y'all"
Never said he did
-
Welp. Can we get a running clock for this game or forfeit in any manner?
-
These rubes don't understand coach speak
-
is there a lazier word than "y'all"?
-
your own coach thinks y'all cant keep up..
Well, now, that's just a lie.
-
Why is it roll DAMN eagle and also roll DAMN tide?
Its War DAMN eagle not roll DAMN eagle
-
starting to think all of these Auburn fans live in their parent's basements ya'll
-
Well, now, that's just a lie.
Not really, read the quote
-
ROLL DAMN TIDE!!
-
Why is it roll DAMN eagle and also roll DAMN tide?
Its War DAMN eagle not roll DAMN eagle
Why you both throw damn into your two word cheers?
-
Well, now, that's just a lie.
Not really, read the quote
I did. You lied. He never said we can't keep up.
:dubious:
-
Alabama fans are really going to have their eyes on us for this game. I really don't want to dissapoint them. :ohno:
-
did Auburn just event this War (damn?) Eagle this year? why have i never heard of it before ya'llz?
-
Why is it roll DAMN eagle and also roll DAMN tide?
Only Harvey says "Roll damn tide". The others just say ... "Rrrrrooooooollllll Tide" while holding a tide box with a toilette paper roll attached.
We then started to act out the "rolling of the tide" in the late 60's and it grew from there. So it is nice when they bring the rolls along for us.
-
did Auburn just event this War (damn?) Eagle this year? why have i never heard of it before ya'llz?
ee
been around for a while
-
With all of this being said, I hope we have a great, injury free game
-
Why is it roll DAMN eagle and also roll DAMN tide?
Its War DAMN eagle not roll DAMN eagle
Why you both throw damn into your two word cheers?
Because those 5 and 6 letter words are too hard to remember. They used up their 5 letter word quota with eagle and tiger.
btw, they obviously have no clue how LHC Bill Snyder always speaks about an upcoming game with caution and humility. Maybe they just don't grasp the concept of humility.
-
Boy his honesty sure is admirable
-
Why is it roll DAMN eagle and also roll DAMN tide?
Only Harvey says "Roll damn tide". The others just say ... "Rrrrrooooooollllll Tide" while holding a tide box with a toilette paper roll attached.
Others say it too now, so only partially true, airman. But I like the cut of your jib. Carry on.

I find it odd a fan base that uses EMAW as a prized phrase poking their flimsy little peckers at a real tradition such as War Eagle. Since you cats are so responsive to edumication, lets indulge.
There are many stories surrounding the origins of Auburn's battle cry, "War Eagle." The most popular account involves the first Auburn football game in 1892 between Auburn and the University of Georgia. According to the story, in the stands that day was an old Civil War soldier with an eagle that he had found injured on a battlefield and kept as a pet. The eagle broke free and began to soar over the field, and Auburn began to march toward the Georgia end zone. The crowd began to chant "War Eagle" as the eagle soared. After Auburn won the game, the eagle crashed to the field and died, but according to the legend, his spirit lives on every time an Auburn man or woman yells "War Eagle!" The battle cry also functions as a greeting for those associated with the University. For many years, a live golden eagle has embodied the spirit of this tradition. The eagle was once housed on campus in The Eagle's Cage, but the cage was taken down and the eagle moved to a nearby raptor center.
-
That is the most damn ridiculous thing I have ever read.

What kind of a stupid bad person brings an EAGLE into a football game? lol. What a dick.

You realize that is a children's book with a story made up correct???
-
War Damn Eagle > EMAW.
Yeah, EMAW? Seriously, you guys hang your hat on that gem?
-
Of course its all some fable built around the glorious war to keep black people enslaved. It's about as offensive an anachronism as "Redskins."

Seriously. That story is made up and not at all true. The civil war ended in 1865 and the average lifespan of an eagle (bald eagle or otherwise) is 20 years. If that eagle was born on the last fight of the civil war (which would have been in 1865) that eagle could have lived to most likely 1885 (plus or minutes a year or two based on genes). I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say 1887, but there is no way that eagle is alive in 1892. It's complete horse crap.
I actually know the origins of the term War Eagle and I am not even an Auburn fan.

Sounds like a Goosebumps book. :dunno:

"And the moral of the story is don't run off. You just end up dead."
-
When you see a squirrel run across the field do you yell "war squirrel". I don't get why a crowd would yell "war" at an animal doing animal things.

Ah, the all knowing. Are you referring to the Indians or the Bulldogs? You seem to be really caught up in this topic.
-
When you see a squirrel run across the field do you yell "war squirrel". I don't get why a crowd would yell "war" at an animal doing animal things.
This eagle was supposedly a Civil War POW.
-
The logistics are improbable...I mean the war ended around 1865, right? A typical eagle's lifespan is around 15-20 years though it might be possible to stretch into the 30's...but it wouldn't likely have survived that long having been injured on a battlefield early, early in life. Not to mention 1892 was the first year of Auburn football (A&M College of Alabama) and the Georgia game was the first game of that season. I doubt the majority of people watching even understood what was happening during the game.
"Are we winning?"
"Maybe. Hey look! An eagle...ooh it looks sick."
"I bet it belongs to that guy who obviously was in the War!"
"Football is AWESOME!!!"

Lets try this again....

War Eagle was a common name for the golden eagle. And of course it isn't the same eagle from way back.(of course the story is doubtful..that is just legend, don't get so hung up on it.) There have been 7 named eagles.
We have a Vet school and one of the specialties is raptors.

Ahhh.. So it's just a lowest common denominator vocabulary thing.
So they call a veteran a "war human" down there?
-
Probably a pigeon then, if there's any truth to the yarn at all.

there aren't any eagles in the confederate states and there never have been. some bad person fighting for the right to keep black people as slaves captured this bird while he was invading pennsylvania and then 30-some years later it tried to fly home while auburn was playing a whites vs. whites football game.
this is the story as they'll have you believe it.
-
This is bullshit! Every single time I try to bring my eagle to the game, I am turned away and have to find a way to kennel EagleMAW quickly so that I can still catch the last three quarters or something.

A couple of days ago LHC Bill Snyder was telling the media how "people keep saying Nick Marshall can't throw the football. Well, they aren't watching the same tape I've been watching because he can throw the football. He throws it all over the field and very well. We have our work cut out for us."

GULLIBLE DAMN FANBASE

After Auburn won the game, the eagle crashed to the field and died, but according to the legend, his spirit lives on every time an Auburn man or woman yells "War Eagle!" The battle cry also functions as a greeting for those associated with the University. For many years, a live golden eagle has embodied the spirit of this tradition. The eagle was once housed on campus in The Eagle's Cage, but the cage was taken down and the eagle moved to a nearby raptor center.

"Every Man a Wildcat" or EMAW in Kansas State circles, has a long and valued history in Wildcat folklore. It all started during the fifth football match-up between The Kansas State University "Aggies" and The University of Kansas "Jayhawks" in the year 1906 and KU had been leading the series 4-0. During the last Aggie possession of the ball-game, a Kansan Wildcat ran out onto the field and chased the Jayhawk mascot. The wildcat startled the KU mascot so much, that the mascot's pants fell about his ankles as he was run out of the stadium. The Aggie boys were inspired by this act of nature and rallied to destroy the Jayhawks. The men of Kansas State gave chase to the wildcat and named him "Willie", in honor of the de-pantsing of the KU mascot and nicknamed themselves the "Wildcats". Unfortunately, the wildcat was later found to have rabies and had to be put down. Mike Ahearn, the head coach of KSU at the time, said with tears rolling down his cheeks as Willie was euthanized, "Every Man a Wildcat... and damn the Jayhawks." To this day, Willie the Wildcat gives chase to visiting team mascots before each game as we carry on his legend by yelling "EMAW!"

The above is completely made up. EMAW is a state of being, an attitude, and a predictor of financial and personal well being.
