But why do we put such an emphasis in his rough ridin' bracket every year (http://nesn.com/2014/03/president-obama-plays-it-safe-with-ncaa-tournament-final-four-picks/)? Is it cause he's black? I can't ever remember the media obsessing over a presidents picks like this before. I don't know why this makes me mad every year. Maybe it's cause i'm a dumbass conservative that thinks he can do nothing but wrong. :dunno: At least I can admit it.

It's because he's the president. His skin color is kinda irrelevant.
I don't know that GW ever filled out a bracket. He's a baseball guy.
-
No other presidents were ever on espn to fill out their brackets. Like. ever. It just seems weird to me.

No other president called ESPN and said they wanted to put their bracket on national television. I'm sure ESPN would be glad to run a feature for any president.
-
Well he picks against the cats every year. So he can go fist himself. :gocho:
-
I would bet this is the new norm. Unless Hillary wins

I'm ok w/ that. Just seemed weird to me that no one had done it before.

Great thread fsd
-
Is it cause he's black?
yes, espn will give airtime to any of them that want to talk brackets. sickening.
-
Didn't he pick the crap out of us in 2010?

I mean let's not be naive. There were a billion presidents before him and none of them were on espn. I'm asking a logical question here. Is it cause he's the "hip" president?
-

Yes, and picked ku to win it all.

I always wondered who WH Taft liked out of the South region but was he ever on ESPN? Nope, not black enough.
-
Little known fact: Reagan wanted to pick a bracket on ESPN but ended up selling it to the Iranians

Yes and no. As others have said, it's because he seeks this sort of publicity to connect with young people. The same approach that lands him on a comedy web series lamely pitching Obamacare, a Ryan Seacrest radio show, some dude's show called Pimp with a Limp or something like that, etc.
The real question you should be asking is, what's more pathetic - that our POTUS does this kind of stuff (the brackets actually don't bother me) or that it works? The guy did win reelection, after all, despite a crap economy and no meaningful achievements besides a shitty healthcare law. No question, it helps that he gets a pass from the media for being liberal and The First Black President, but there's no denying that he's really good at turning out young, naive morons - a critical part if the Democrat base.

Since I admitted i'm a dumbass in the thread title, nothing I say can be judged, right? That's how it works.

I'm not either. I do view the world from the outside/in tho. Did you not read my review for 12 years a slave today? :curse:

I think Obama won because he is very charismatic and is able to at least give the perception that he can relate to common people. Mitt Romney came across as a condescending prick in comparison, which is amazing considering that everyone he ran against in his primary that had any support at all was an even bigger condescending prick.

Exactly. Young naive dumbasses voted for Obama because they thought he was "charismatic". They/you thought Romney was a "condescending prick" because he didn't dance on Ellen's show or have coffee with Oprah, even though he's likely one of the nicest dudes you'd ever meet. In fact, I've never met a Mormon who wasn't almost obnoxiously nice.

It had a lot more to do with the way he talked about "illegals" deporting themselves, how 47 percent of the people wouldn't vote for him no matter what, so his job is to not worry about them, talking about getting "binders full of women", talking about how it would be helpful if he were latino, etc.

:dubious:
-
We picked the same Final Four. ;)
-
So the first basketball fan president we've had in the social media age fills out a bracket on TV. Some people think it is crazy that news outlets looking for click bait would post stories about the most important person in the world doing something fun that most people do. :Wha:
-
The father of propaganda, Edward Bernays...
If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind, is it not possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing about it? The recent practice of propaganda has proved that it is possible, at least up to a certain point and within certain limits.
The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. ...We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. ...In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons...who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.

OMG! Some of these comments on the espn Facebook page are crazy!
ESPN
President Barack Obama's bracket is set.
His National Champion is...
This is literally a slap in the face to the American people.
Surprised he has time to fill out a bracket with all the golf & vacations he has to cram into his schedule!
We're on the brink of WW3 and our fearless leader is taking time to go on ESPN and fill out his bracket. Nice
Omg! Filling out a bracket while the rest of the world laughs at you???? What the hell is wrong with you????
Shouldn't Obama worry more about Russia and less about basketball. This is what happens when you elect someone who wants to be a celebrity instead of President
Country going under and he filling out a bracket. ..SMH...worthless.
Who care's how about the Presidenital Bracket, how about a Job bracket.
Great to see our leader more interested in everything other than what he should be doing, pathetic! Let me guess, golf right after this right???
Really with the current economy in shambles and the heightened tensions in Europe with Russia and our president is worried about brackets? this takes the cake. Obama is the worst president ever!!
It goes on and on...

So, people think you can fix the economy in the same amount of time as filling out a bracket? Interesting if true

I like that he fills out a bracket, because it helps me fill out mine. He has LBIQ, just pick teams he doesn't and you'll probably win your pool.

Brackets (and bracketology) are a bigger deal now. Clinton got plenty of attention for loving college hoops and the Razorbacks.

-
Wacky, I never took you as bracket bitcher. I think you're better than that.
Do you get all pissy when prez's throw out the first pitch or flip a coin? It's about the same amount of time. Heck Prezys spend more time at an athletic event. That takes more time than the bracket.
Not good for your look man.
-
I just don't like Obama. That's all. I admitted ppl are lunatics for getting mad at the president taking time to fill out a bracket or anything else like that. Just trying to mix it up a bit. A lot of my questions have been answered in this thread. It all makes sense now.
-
this president is more of an idol than usual, and a lot of people like him for no other reason than he seems pretty cool. he has also expressed an interest in basketball and Michelle has direct ties to college basketball (her brother). ESPN capitalizes on this because in the end who doesn't eventually talk about "Obama's bracket"? The ESPN link is sent all over the place, so $$.
-
I don't believe the liberal media.
-
I couldn't mash my "meh" button any harder
-
I'd rather have him filling out brackets and golfing all day than anything he should be doing.

I just binge-watched House of Cards, so I'm 100% sure OSU will win it all.

-
It's cause he's black, they love basketball

That's what I said, seven.

This raises an interesting question: what if we offered Obama a buy out kind of like teams do for shitty coaches that are still under contract? I'm thinking we could give him his own Air Force One, and opulent Hawaiian vacations for life and still come out way ahead if it means repealing Obamacare. Course, we'd have to buy out Biden, too... Not sure what that would take.

Joe would take any shiny object.

If Barack has something to say about college football, that's legitimate and I'm fine with
It, but no hobby-sport crap while our country is all effed up. :nono:

Great, now I'm gonna hear about it in the fault thread (platinum) again.

Yeah Wacky, you mads cuz Obama and his pals want to reign in for-profits?
I like you man and I want you to at least move up to a junior college in the future. Better yet something like St. Marys or Baker..

Yeah, it's happened once that I know of in ten years or so. the guy was very disgruntled, but he told a client we were very busy (or too busy to do something) and they canned him for it. But he bitched constantly and butted heads w/ the boss all the time and stuff.
I've known cases where someone hated one of his employees and wanted to fire him for a very long time, but he ended up just waiting until a round of layoffs to do it because it was too much work to document why the guy needed to be fired or something.

This thread is Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).
Obama is not cool and he certainly isn't black. He's a dork who's day to day life is entirely scripted.
Nobody should care if he fills out his dumbass bracket on dumbass tv. There are like 1000 other channels to watch. That Fox Sports 1 channel for example, it actually shows highlights and they have that gorgeous blonde with legs that are 9 feet long who makes me forget that I even like sports highlights. Does anyone have a link to her filling out a bracket, because I would enjoy watching that?

Obama bracketology is cool, between two ferns is fine.
Reporters are just relieved to have any access. When AP is saying you have the least transparent administration in modern American/Presidential history, you pretty much have to take that reality to the bank.
Now even more stories about the scripting and time limits for the press. The same type of things that used to get Republican presidents and administrations excoriated by the MSM.

Can confirm. I PIPed my ass off and fired/laid off three lost causes. Also got slapped with two (2!) EEOC complaints. Both were quickly dismissed, but here's a fun fact: the lady who accused me of being racist, sexist and maybe something else for firing her then emailed me asking for a letter of recommendation about 6 months later. She was all "I understand if this is awkward for you but I'd really appreciate it..."

If Florida wins I win $350. If Arizona Beats Florida I probably also win $350. If Florida, Arizona and Michigan State are in the final four I could win $350 and almost certainly over $100 (2nd or 3rd). :Woot:

How are you the only one with a chalk final four like that? Are you in a pool with everyone picked Nebraska to win it?

it's a pool from my hometown. it has an upset bonus (subtract the seed to get that point bonus) so obviously I picked upsets for every game the first two rounds other than who I had in the S16. Then I picked who I actually thought would win from there. Plus I picked the correct rounds that KU, WSU and KSU would exit while 3/4 of the pool had KU or WSU winning the thing. It's a pretty easy formula. I'm in the money every year in this thing because I'm not a dumbass homer about it and I take the 2 minutes to read how the scoring works.

Yeah, we have too many MU fans to really make that work. They all sit around and make jokes about a team that starts with a B upset.
-
rough ridin' arizona. I still win if Florida wins. or if kentucky beats florida in the final. the guy who runs this thing has great analytical stuff built in that shows possible finishes from the sweet 16 on.

Fescoe just wrecked everyone who gets all mad about Obama picking a bracket.

Man I would have loved to have heard that.

Fescoe just wrecked everyone who gets all mad about Obama picking a bracket.
It was obvious he spent very little time on his bracket this year, so no biggie.

This might be the worst decision Trump has made so far.
-
His bracket would have been so hilarious.
-
He hates college and education, so this is not surprising
