appears violent and out of control
1) super red face
2) lots of yelling
3) yelling at refs
4) yelling at his own players
5) sweats
6) lots of technicals
7) cussing a bunch
what am i missing? i mean this league has some real characters like drew and huggins but when you get down to it, self really probably is the least likeable from a verifiable actions standpoint, no?

bill self angryhis anger has been well-established in this topic, but the weirdness factor has not been explored. using your method, daris, I uncovered the following.

I don't know how Frank Martin acted in every day life and in practice, but every KU fan I met seemed to suggest that Frank was like that all the time, and I suspect that their belief was based on observing Frank during games.
I think KU fans generally follow basketball more closely than me. I will defer to their knowledge of the game.
As a result, I choose to similarly believe that Bill Self conducts himself in every day life as he conducts himself during games.
i think what you're witnessing is a man whose life is spiraling out of control. when he came to the big 12, he was a much different person. he was cordial and seemed very outgoing, a nice person to be around. now we hear stories of him hanging with co-eds and drinking on mass street.
he wears those years he's spent in lawrence like a putrid rotting fungus. it's really a sad example of the pressure of high major division 1 athletics and what it can do to a person. #disgusting #sad

except for the fact that they aren't just watercooler stories but actually published ones by people like former kc star columnist hearne christopher.

Anybody who makes well into seven figures, wears a rug that good and gets botox treatments is probably a safe bet to be just about as human as the next lottery-winner. Not to mention prone to being susceptible to the temptations that come with that kind of fame, power and money.

well i don't know anything about the individual so i'll just have to take your word for it and the article with a grain of salt. however, i do find it damning that a former graduate and current media member is willing to go on record about how absolutely disgusting they find self actions to be and how poorly they reflect on the school.

He's been an editorial writer since before I was born, which means his job is to bitch about anything and everything on a daily basis.

He's losing his chuztpah, IMO.
Guys, I wouldn't be surprised if the school has damning evidence against him related to the ticket scandal and has let him know in plain terms that he either wins or goes to federal prison for a handful of years.
That has to be on the absolute top of his mind every game, every practice, every meeting with some kid who thinks he should leave after one year.
Desperate.
Look, I don't want to sit here and cast stones at a guy who may be in a tough situation and under a lot of pressure to do whatever it takes to win to help keep KU's struggling athletics department afloat.
So instead I'll just remark on how blessed The Kansas State University is to have a classy guy like oscar Weber at the helm, a real family man who keeps his family close to him (http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/pantagraph.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/3/bb/3bb06c98-6a5d-11e1-a53b-0019bb2963f4/4f5ac42e7282d.preview-300.jpg) (within arms' reach, really) even in times of severe job stress (http://www.homeescapade.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/oscar-Weber-Fired.jpg), and can be found taking care of the everyday things on the homefront that help keep a happy home, like walking the dog and mowing the lawn. All that, and he still finds time to win trophies and beat a team led by a guy who appears to stop at nothing to try to win.
So blessed.
