KUTheShiver - Press conference for Cole aldrich at 3:30 today.
Ugly ass should be gone by dawn.
-
I'll believe it when I see it.
Self talked him and his hillbilly family to stay in Lawrence another year.
-
I can't remember. Did he have a presser last season to announce he was staying?
I wouldn't be shocked if he stays.
1. Self would try any trick in the book to get him back.
2. Cole and his family are stupid enough to buy that bullshit.

Pretty sure both Cole and the elevator rapist both held a conf to announce that they were returning to be dumb and a rapist for another year.

the dentists in lawrence are prolly falling all over themselves right now.
-
I spoke with an insidery KU type on Friday, who told me that this has been a done deal for months, if not longer.
-
I warned him! :surprised:
I bet your players make their getaway while you're gone. You better have someone there keeping an eye on them.

-
Meh, he'll probably stay. Throw a press conference to get all of the KU fans giddy and have them all gushing about him staying. Anything for some attention.
-
So what? If he stays under Self's coaching, he'll regress to senior high school level.
No real threat either way.

I remember when K-State was going to dominate after Rush, Chalmers, Arthur, Kaun, Jackson, etc. all left. How'd that work out for you guys?

Darn. Probably the first time I've ever been nailed on that. Doesn't feel good.

What's your record against KU since those guys left? How many times have you finished ahead of KU in the Big 12 standings since those guys left?

JEDI MIND TRICK!!! :runaway:

JEDI MIND TRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
For the second year in a row KU proved they're not very good without those guys and the Big 12 refs. On a neutral court with neutral refs KSU proved they're the better team.

KU and K-State didn't play the same teams in the tournament. When you guys went up against a mid-major that played excellent defense and hit free throws you got beat.
33-3, Big 12 regular season title, Big 12 tournament title, sweep of K-State/Mizzou >>>>> 29-8, Elite Eight, 1-4 vs. KU/Mizzou
-
How much of a part do you think the "YOUR DAD DOESN'T HAVE A JOB!" heckles helped this decision along?
-
Cole's dad probably did a huge fist pump this morning, right after he beat his wife.
-
No way Xavier stays after seeing Cole leaving. It will be great to have the talent advantage next season over the Hawks.

Will they coincide Cole's escape today with a "beating KSU in the regular season" banner?
Could be the athletic highlight in Lawrence for the next year.

Just presenting the facts. Speaking of banners, I heard a rumor that K-State was going to hang an Elite Eight banner. Please tell me that's a joke.

We have tons of elite eights and no banners for any of them. In fact, while most ku fans are ignorant to it, we have no banners at all. KU fans took a MU talking point and blindly transfered it to KSU making themselves look even more Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) :gocho:

I heard a rumor that ku fans would rather beat KSU in the regular season/conf tourney then later get embarassed in second round of the Big Dance while KSU goes to the Elite 8. That's a joke, right? That kind of had me going until I realized that is just Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!). Good one.

Aren't Rush, Chalm, Arthur et al. not going be there next year? So, it's taken the 2* and 3* FR/Sophs (at that time) some time to improve. NOTHING indicates uofk will be the same next yr (pre-season #1). Next yr will, also, be the first time in yrs that KSU will be ranked ahead of uofk preseason. Tide is changing...

If it's not the Final Four, it really doesn't make that much of a difference. I'd personally rather go 33-3 and win the Big 12 than get swept by K-State and lose in the Elite Eight.

No doubt with the Feds investigating ku athletics, and with the NCAA soon to be dropping the hammer on ku as well (again) . . . that's what lead to Cole deciding to leave.
Mark my word, I have it on good authority the the NCAA will be dropping the hammer on ku . . . Wabash Station said they would be.

Only slightly different... "If it's not the Championship Game, it doesn't make that much of a difference."

KU has been to three Elite Eights in the last seven years and three Final Fours in the last nine. I would rather go 33-3 and win the Big 12 than finish 2nd to K-State and lose in the Elite Eight.
-
How's the FBI investigation going Ben??
-
I would rather go 33-3 and win the Big 12 than finish 2nd to K-State and lose in the Elite Eight.
I am pretty much the exact opposite.
I would prefer the tourney run.
But that is just because I don't need a sports team to feel like I am better than someone else I live near or interact with often.
Tourney run is more fun for the team, fans, and school imo.
-
Definitely prefer the Elite 8 to going out in the 2nd round. Another conference title would be nice though.

I would prefer to enjoy an entire season vs. two weeks of a post-season tournament (only to get my heart ripped out in the Elite Eight). I agree that the tournament is the most exciting event in all of athletics, but I don't think it should take away what a team accomplishes during the season.

I agree, the NCAA should start awarding trophies for finishing the regular season ranked #1. Maybe a matching set to go along with the preseason #1 trophy as well.
-
Yeah, K-State didn't do anything during the course of the season.
LOL . . . the talking point back in the day of ku tards was how important it was to do well in the NCAA tourney and that winning the Big 8 didn't matter.

Self: Nobody improved at a more accelerated rate in my KU coaching career than Cole Aldrich.
LOL @ Bill trying to cover up his mistakes.

KSU played a top 3 S.O.S. and RPI. I was able to enjoy watching them play a lot of good teams and win a lot of those match ups. The Elite 8 was just a cherry on top.
To act like we only played two weeks of enjoyable BB makes it sound like you don't know what you are talking about. That can't be the case, can it? :dunno:

Where did I say I was happy that K-State lost to ku.
Just admit it, the failure of ku in this years NCAA tourney is just killing you, thus the reason why you're lashing out all over this board today.
Any news on the Federal investigation of the ku athletic department to pass along??

Than you have the lowest BBIQ than anyone on this board. You still have a chance to back out of this moronic position, but the door is closing.

Was the Big 12 tournament a tournament, or was it a tournament?
Pool Play Champions.

Glad to see you back Ben. I understand why you left. Dealing with the loss to NI as the #1 team with the easiest road to the championship, must be hard. Also, like how you reappear after the Katz go out. Anyway, welcome back.
-
Poor ku fans. I think this embarassment is worse than last football season.

I left? When? Did you miss me for a day or two when I went down to OKC for the tournament?

How much of a part do you think the "YOUR DAD DOESN'T HAVE A JOB!" heckles helped this decision along?
In my fit of rage after the home game against KU this season, I yelled, "GET A JOB, ALDRICH!" from the second row of the student section right at Father Aldrich with his trucker hat on. There weren't a ton of people left in the building and he definitely looked at me. Pretty weird situation, honestly.
Also, good luck in your future endeavors, Cole. I'll always remember you for this, you white trash bumpkin:

Must have been. I just thought it was weird that you weren't hanging around our team's message board for a day or so, that's all. Don't get all defensive.

I would rather go 33-3 and win the Big 12 than finish 2nd to K-State and lose in the Elite Eight.
Next season might be a rough one for you BMWJ! KU won't go 33-3 and KSU is gonna finish ahead in the conference, better prepare yourself!

I realize KU most likely won't go 33-3 next season, but as for K-State winning the Big 12, I'll believe it when I see it.

So will I.
Wow, K-State making the Elite 8 and ku failing miserably in the NCAA tourney this year has really gotten to you Ben.

Meh, don't really care about regular season title. The tourney is what college teams are playing for.

Come on Ben- basketball is over. Please do us all a favor and go watch some Turner Gill football practices then report back with which guys in nameless jerseys look least untalented. Would also love to know which hymns the team sings during warm-ups. TIA.

It will be unbelievable how much of a difference KU's defense will have sans Aldrich in the paint. They have no one on the roster that can bring that kind of presense (and don't give me Withey) and of all KU's players, Aldrich was the key reason KU swept Kansas State last year. KU will still be very good (Top 20 type team), but losing 3 players the caliber of Collins, Aldrich and Henry will hurt. Now it will be up to Frank and company to take advantage of the opportunity.
-
It will be a glorious YOD if we don't warm up the recruiting jet. :blank:
(sorry, done enjoying the season, time to get back to work! :ksu: )

Word around campus is that Henry is coming back, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Henry is long gone. Word on campus is wrong.
How about word on campus about the football team? C'mon, I started a thread for your reports. If you ever want us to star a rebel ku bbs and let you run it you have to show some initiative!
What did that Blinn linebacker do to get the boot? I heard he only put a quarter in the collection plate but my sources can be wrong.

No.... there were a couple reports on the boards and around Lawrence that Henry is coming back.

would not surprise me. Self did a good job of turning him into a completely one dimensional player this year.

What did Self do to turn him into a one-dimensional player?

Hard to say, but it worked.

It's funny when you guys try to talk hoops, and then realize that you know absolutely nothing about the actual sport.

way to change the subject Obi Wan

What did Self do to turn him into a one-dimensional player?
What he does well: Shoot wide open jump shots.....
Everything else is pretty average

Henry was essentially one demonsional for most of the year, but did start taking the ball to the hoop late in the year. The tendency he had to disappear when ku needed him most didn't help his draft stock.
-
must we teach you about the game of basketball? that is what google's for.

Kinda like you with fball ?
Tough year to be a ku mommy, fan
Year of destiny in fball was a total abortion, and then the #1 seed in bball gets bounced out first weekend of the tourney
Now onto fball season, where the big 12 gets to sit back and watch the racial experiment (Rev. Gill) go 1-7 in the big12
BTW ben, your jew AD might finally be meeting his maker soon, what a crooked bastard

I don't know, maybe he should have coached him to do something more. You know, help him improve the weaker areas of his game to make him a better overall player. Like mentioned above, he did do a better job of taking the ball to the basket near the end of the season. However, there wasn't a great deal of improvement throughout the year.
Maybe its Self, or it could be that Xavier isn't very coachable. I don't know enough about him to be sure of that opinion, but it could be a possibility. Your thoughts?

C'mon dummie. Everyone saw X regress from the best physical speciman and driving guard on the court (no matter who ku pkayed) to a single skill player only hucking up unguarded 3s and then being pulled because Self wanted to keep him in Lawrence. Mario Little says "thanks for nothing, coach Self"
Show some basketball IQ or go over to the football thread, where you can discuss KU's second team winning the North.

why do i get the feeling that ben/ukans fans would be defending their season the same way if the outcomes for K-State and ukans were reversed?
and on X, i dont think i care if he stays or not. he was really underwhelming. if him staying meant selby didnt come then all the better too. plus continues the precedent for self ruining 1 and dones.

1......2.......3......Ben goes down!

Self just kind of rolled the old ball out there this year. Mailed it in, I would say, waiting for post-season. Whoops.

speaking of numbers haven't his numbers stayed pretty much even the last 2 years?
