Bush
Christie
Cruz
Paul
Rubio
I would prefer Paul because I think the areas he would be most likely to use his presidential powers to enact change would be in areas we are in broad agreement on: foreign policy, NSA, privacy etc.
He would probably fiddle around with the Fed and appoint some crank. But congressional oversight would do wonders to moderate his domestic agenda even if he vetoed everything to death. His potential as a "do-nothing" president is much more comforting than the rest of the bunch to me.
But what say you goEMAW?
-
I gotta agree on Paul. He doesn't seem like he would bend to the party agenda and would do what he personally thought was right.
That said, the only one who stands a chance is Christie, imo. He seems pretty solid too. I just hope the primary doesn't make him go all crazy right. He seems like a pretty centralized figure now.
-
Rand or Ron? I'm probably going with Christie either way, but I'm willing to keep an open mind going into the debates.
-
Elizabeth Warren or Gary Johnson for me.
-
pretty good picks ERII, but those weren't in the original post.
i'll go with christie.

Well the choices given are complete dumbasses so I went with Other. Paul would be the #1 option out of the original 5 though.
-
Paul is the most unlikely so we can eliminate him.

Paul is the most unlikely so we can eliminate him.
I could see the republican base getting behind Rand.

i can't.
-
christie. and yes, it's at least partly personality over policy.
-
Paul then Christie. A Christie campaign would be a lot of fun. (I'd hope).
-
Paul for sure, although he seems like he is willing to bow down for the establishment which means I probably just won't vote again.
-
christie. and yes, it's at least partly personality over policy.
I think his personality + politics on foreign policy are a recipe for disaster.
-
Seems like Paul would be pretty bad on foreign policy too.

how so? He would stop bombing browns which instantly makes him better than anyone in 40 years

Yeah, Paul.

He would also stop paying them any money. While I think we try to be too much to too many and would like to see us cut back, doing so drastically(as both the paul' s would want) would be a big deal.

Elizabeth Warren or Gary Johnson for me.
Is Elizabeth Warren the one who lied about being native american to boost her academia cred? If that's right - she has no chance. Besides, we already know who the Dems are running in 2016.
-
Of the five choices, I choose Rubio as long as he calls to personally apologize for that immigration bill. He's withdrawn his support, and that's a start, but I'm really going to need a sincere apology.

gag
paul would beat his ass
-
Rands a douche who's been lifting speeches from Wikipedia.
He's also been campaigning for far right lunatics like Ken Cuccinelli.
He's a flake and nothing like his father.
Christie would be my choice, and if he can keep it moderate throughout the primaries he may just steal the show from Hillary. He's a likable person and his penchant for pragmatism is a likeable trait.
-
I've kind of picked up on Rand being a douche as well.
-
Elizabeth Warren or Gary Johnson for me.
LoL, Liz Warren is batshit crazy and Ernie Johnson would never give up his gig at Turner.
Bush is out of terms (presuming Obama doesn't change that rule by executive order)
Paul is probably too old at this point, plus he never really caught on the last three primaries.
That leaves Cruz, Christie and Rubio. Rubio auto-corrects to Rubicon on my tablet, so that's pretty cool, but braces make him unlikeable to the poors. . . I mean swing voters. Cruz is Canadian or something, so that would be totally hilarious to watch the libtards who got all hot and bothered by the birthers have to become birthers themselves, but ultimately not a seasoned enough politician. This leaves Christie, who would probably finish off Hillary "crypt keeper" Clinton's flop of a political career, and who is flippant and funny and the kind of no bullshit guy this country needs after two terms of nothing but whiny bullshit.
-
Wrong Bush.

I'm pretty sure he means Jeb Bush and Rand Paul, FSD.

Yeah, I had the wrong Paul earlier too

Welper, at least I got the right Johnson.

Rand doesn't stand a chance. Christie all day 'we day. I think Jeb would have had a shot if he started moving forward earlier.

I don't think we can count a Bush out of this race just yet. There is plenty of time for all candidates. Just look at the last election. It seemed like there was a new frontrunner every week.
-
I just don't see them beating Christie unless they can win a primary by having the entire country make fun of his weight.

I prefer Jeb because it would give me many great opportunities to share my story of how he once held a door open for me to pass through.

Christie is overweight and might come across as being a bit of an intellectual who was a little too friendly with Obama. A lot of republicans are going to have a tough time with that. He could end up being a lot like Romney in the primaries this year, where republicans just keep looking for somebody they can vote on who is batshit crazy and not a RINO. I agree that Christie is the clear frontrunner, but it's way too early to just call it now. Nobody saw Santorum coming the last time, after all.
-
Santorum didn't amount to anything real.

That's only because Newt refused to exit the election when most candidates normally would. Those votes for Newt were not going to go to Romney.
-
I think some in the base are getting sick of bat crap crazy. I don't think it will be as celebrated next go round as it was last. The last one was a statistical loser given incumbency. This coming one is for real.

It doesn't really matter who they run because they'll be opposed by:
Hillary- hopeless at winning anything unless appointed, likely to die in the primary
Biden- incredible dumbass
This might be the best year for a third party candidate ever - fiscal conservative, social liberal - which takes you back to christie, so yeah, he'll win and the right wing is gonna have to deal with it
-
I really really really really hope Biden takes a long hard shot at it. Would be fantastically entertaining.

I was amazed at how well Biden did in the vice presidential debate against Paul Ryan. Up until that point I had absolutely no idea how he had made it anywhere close to as far as he had. He's actually pretty likeable in that setting, though.
Oh, and this is just so Biden.

Debates are the most controlled part of a race.

Bidden looked like an incredible Dumbass during the debate, unless you think screaming and incoherence are good, in which case I suggest pro wrestling.

They need to have a private douche elimination round to cull out canidates with unelectable personalities, get it down to 3 if they have that many left, and then let them duke it out. I'm sick of the social missfits the right keeps nominating.

In the wake of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, Biden did, in fact, champion an anti-terrorism bill similar to the one now before Congress (though it was, as he complains, badly watered down by anti-government conservatives and leftist civil libertarians). And Biden doesn't let you forget it. "I introduced the terrorism bill in '94 that had a lot of these things in it," he bragged to NBC's Tim Russert on September 30. When I spent the day with him later that week, Biden mentioned the legislation to me, and to several other reporters he encountered, no fewer than seven times. "When I was chairman in '94 I introduced a major antiterrorism bill--back then," he says in the morning, flashing a knowing grin and pausing for effect. (Never mind that he's gotten the year wrong.) Back in his office later that afternoon, he brings it up yet again. "I drafted a terrorism bill after the Oklahoma City bombing. And the bill John Ashcroft sent up was my bill." You don't say.
:Wha: <---------- left-tards after taking some truth in.

just want to make a note that this thread was going great until the neocon mouthbreathers showed up.
continue on.

A neocon is a democrat who supports the church

agreed here
-
christie is probably the closest thing to a moderate we will ever see again
-
i don't know anything about christie, but i like that he doesn't seem to have a great filter.
-
Here's what I know about Christie: 1. He may be fat if he's who I'm thinking he is. 2. As far as I know, I've never bumped into him personally.

he won his best bud barack obama a stuffed chicago bear on the NJ boardwalk while the two were touring it. he then cracked wise about how he was a much better at throwing the ball at the cans or whatever and then the two posed for the cameras really hamming it up. ONE VOTE FROM STEVE DAVE IN NEBRASKA!
-
I like how he fooled Barack into thinking he was his bud so he wouldn't Katrina New Jersey.
-
But some in those parts are still getting "Katrina'd".
No major meltdowns about it from the usual suspects though, can't figure out why.
-
Couldn't vote for Christy. Too fat.
-
chris christie seems like a guy i would have a beer with
-
Couldn't vote for Christy. Too fat.
I think he got gastric bypass, so by the time the election rolls around he might not be.

Wrong. A neocon is a church that hates the less fortunate.
-
Chris Christie seems less stupid than George W. Bush. His agenda is approximately the same, though. Maybe less war with Iraq.

I'll let pike take this one.
Good grief, puni. Try Google or bing or something.
-
okay i think a neocon is a gun owner with an illegal immigrant best friend
-
A neocon is a racist who wants to raise taxes on the poor and middle class and lower them on the rich.
Neocons also hate Obama because he's a black guy telling them what to do.
Neocons on this blog are FSD, KSU, toe, and some others.
All of them can't stand black people and lash out at Obama because of this.
Sickening.
-
I don't see Christie getting through the primary. A lot of the right thinks he is too left now and will try to push him right. Cruz and Paul are both probably too far right to win a general election. Most likely candidates are probably Bush/Rubio but I like Christie the best.
I don't like candidates that have lost in primaries running again and again. In this day and age they never win. They aren't generally exciting enough to encourage voter turnout and a plan to beat them has already been written. Everyone thinks the Dems will send Hillary out, and maybe they will, but it would be a mistake.

The more the news media and the establishment cheer on Mr. Christie, the more grass-roots activists — especially members of the Tea Party — resent it. Mr. Christie appeared this weekend on four of the Sunday morning talk shows. Chuck Henderson, a Tea Party activist from Manhattan, Kan., nearly shouted into the phone when asked by a reporter about the idea of Mr. Christie as a presidential candidate.
"He won his re-election, bully for him, but for him to make the jump up the next rung of the ladder, well, he’s not going to find any support from the people I mix with," Mr. Henderson said.
REPRESENT!

that sentence had so much awesome stuff in it. bully for him. from the people I mix with. being a manhattan, ks guy in the NY Times (could have used a "little apple" mention here NYT). just awesome.
