First, arrive as early as you can. Parking sucks and you'll likely have to take a shuttle from your parking to the grounds.  Do you know someone who is competing and has their own space? That's really the elite way to enjoy the AR.  You get to sit back drink crap loads of beer, stuff your face with meat and laugh at all the puds who don't have a spot to hang out at.

the american royal, plenty of ring meat options available there.  i would suggest coming off of sw blvd to 23rd street tfwy.  traffic is going to be worse than normal this year w/ the construction on i-35 and the ring meat craze.

My old gig used to have a huge tent and free booze and stuff.  Never went.

Hey guys, lets all get together and watch someone else cook!

Pfft.  No thanks.

Must be a Mod-Dork thing.

I just don't get it.

Yeah, if you're going as part of a work group then it's probably not that fun because you might need to be on good behavior unless you work in a stud boss office like I do, then it's time to get rough ridin' rowdy.

Just don't go unless you know a party already.....or if you are one of those glad handers that can talk up and befriend random groups of people.

Free shuttles are worth it from downtown

I'm not sure what you have against free booze and eating delicious meats prepared by stud BBQ'rs.

Very Fun
Traffic Sucks
Need to have an in with someone that has a spot
The biggest spots competing for Party of The Year are  :Woohoo:
Still pretty decent if you have to buy beer, but not as great
It all shuts down around 12? and you need a special cook pass to stay later I think?
Buy tickets in advance, the lines suck getting in
Parking downtown and hopping on a free school bus shuttle works well but takes a while

so the corporate party is apparently a pretty big one and should have tons of free booze and food but i guess it eventually starts to run out of free booze and food and then you have to go somewhere else. if there are any stud gE'ers that want a free year of premium and are having their own party or whatever then yes i will stop by and eat some of your food and drink some of your drinks.

Then I think you would enjoy the American Royal.  There are also other things to do there besides watch meat cook.  I mean some of the ladies      They're not all dressed up like Pete's renaissance whores but some of them dress quite whorish.

also for the american royal pros, should i show up to this thing with a couple of my favorite "bbq sauces" and wear them on a belt and then if someone serves me some ring meat i grab one of my sauces and shoot it on the plate and go "bang, bang" or something like that?

i think the real pros wear a white apron and yell "BAM!" while making a flashy gesture?  depends on what you're going for here i guess

new plan- i get some bbq sauce, really good bbq sauce like kraft mesquite honey or something and then i walk around saucing people that don't have sauce on their plan and i say something like "bang, bang. you just got sauced! now smile for the camera sonny." and then i have a friend take a picture of me and the saucee w/ his cell phone.

maybe then scan the picture that we took onto a tshirt for twenty bucks with a saying of something like...

"i got sauced at the american royal"

-or-

"i went to the american royal and all i got was sauced and this crummy t-shirt"

nevermind. i thought more about it and that's a stupid plan. turn around time on shirts would be too long. keep original plan, change bang bang to zap zap like clams suggested and then just have a plain shirt with the saying of something like "i got zapped by the sauce king and all i got was this lousy t-shirt" on the back and then "american royal 2013" on the front. sometimes it really helps to work through things like this on the board before putting them "into action" in real life. thanks guys.

Love when booze companies set up their own space.  Templeton Rye will be in 803 and I"m sure handed out free booze again.
