This is a pretty solid micromasters Transformers pod here.  It looks as though you have a few from the Off-road patrol and the Sports Car Patrol.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Off-Road-Patrol-Micromaster-100-Complete-1989-Hasbro-G1-Transformers-/121161710441?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item1c35ccfb69#ht_367wt_1170

With these figures...you should get between 10 to 20 bucks for them.  Usually they range at about 2 to 3 dollars a piece.  There are a few of these micromasters that are really rare and worth more, but these are fairly common (but in great shape).

possibly some kind of japanese hentai superstar though right? highly sought after probably?

This is a go-bot.  This dude was a henchmen to Cy-Kill and was in the cartoon quite a bit.  Looks like it is missing a few parts as a complete one in great shape is worth around 30 to 40 dollars.  In it's current shape...I'd say 5 to 10 bucks.

This one is really special believe it or not.  It is part of a pretender monstor that combines to form Monstructor.  This is a super rare toy.  The toy's name is Bristleback and has some good value to it.  Just the gray part that goes on the monster's back is worth about 15 bucks.  With everything in this picture...I'd value this at 35 to 45 bucks.  Booya dude!  Cash in!

hundreds each? thousands total?

I found one more of these after the picture. But wait... What if I told you there is also a semi truck that transforms into a dude AND A TRAILER THAT TURNES INTO A rough ridin' JET?

The beachcomber Puniraptor has isn't that damaged.  There is some sticker wear, but otherwise it is in good shape.  It is the dark blue version of beachcomber (the second wave had a lighter version of the blue plastic).  Both versions are worth the same amount of money though.  Book value on it is between 15 and 23 bucks.  This one would probably sell between 10 and 15 dollars on ebay due to the sticker wear.

LOL...Go-Bots were always the AIDS of the transforming robots.

Transformers were made by Hasbro and Takara (both owned by Disney today).  In the 1970s, Transformers were made in Japan and they were called Diaclones and Micro Men.  For example, the Optimus Prime toy is a red semi, and his chest opens up.  Well, in Japan, this toy was a Micro Men toy and a little silver dude went in there.  Anyhoo, Stan Lee went to Japan for an X-Men gig and thought he could make a comic book from these toys.  Micro Men/diaclones were already huge in Japan, so when they were rebranded Transformers they were just as big.  Marvel made the USA comics and kids loved them.  The cartoon then came and Transformers owned the market share.

Go-Bots were made in the USA by Tonka.  Tonka had no clue how to compete.  Bandai (the company that made Voltron) had the Japanese version, but they were made to try and compete with Transformers.  The problem was that Voltron was taking Baindai's resources, while GI Joe and Transformers were all that Hasbro had.  GI Joe was so huge in the US already, Transformers used that success thus Go-Bots failed in the US.  No worries though, Power Rangers were made by Bandai so they had the last laugh.

Thus, today, we are racist toward Go-Bots.  Really though, Transformers are the most popular international toy in the world today which increases the demand (raising prices).  Go-Bots don't have the same demand.  The very first Transformers was made in 1974.  Very few toys have the distinction of, almost 40 years later, being available today at local retailers in countries around the world.

Transformers are :ksugrad: and Go-Bots are Flood Aggie.

when my friends and i were little we would play with transformers and make fun of gobots. enevitably though, christmas would come and someone's grandma or something would go to k-mart and get them a gobot thinking they were a transformer and then you'd just lol but also feel so bad for the kid that got stuck with the gobot. it happened to me once. i was irate trying to explain that they were nowhere close to the same thing.

anyway we (fourth grade?) were also convinced that the gobot company heard about what the transformer company was getting ready to do so they made an inferior transformer, called it a gobot and rushed them to market. the transformer people took their time, created a better product and won out in the end. anyway, that was what we thought when we were ten.

also- this is a kind of entertaining article that i just read when googling to make sure that gobots did in fact precede transformers and that 9 year old daris had his facts (stats) straight.

That is a great article!  My first transforming robot I remember getting was from my grandma too...it was a white spaceship named Spay-C.  I love the crap out of this toy and my dad bought me some Transformers.  My first Transformer was Megatron...a black and silver Walter-P38.  Other kids I knew had those pussy Go-Bots guns that were like blue and red.  I pulled out my Transformers piece and got instant street cred.  Effing A Cotton, I remember hooking up the silencer, scope and arm bar on Megatron and I felt like a pimp ready to slap a sass talking hoe.  Those were the days.

rd, you are right.  In the US, gobots did precede Transformers by one year.  That wasn't the case in Japan.  Gobots rushed their product to the market with a terrible story line.  Transformers was very thought out and had Marvel comics on their side.  Hasbro was already killing it with GI Joe, and Transformers dominated the robot market.  Go-bots were stuck in the 70s with their toy designs, while Transformers were bitching with actual military jets, real looking weapons/cars.  Go-bots had no shot.  I am pretty sure that Transformers actually bought Go-bots out in the 90s just to put the final middle finger to their bull crap competitors.

If anyone remembers Battle Beasts in the US (like little creatures that had weapons and stuff, and you could rub their chest to reveal whether the monster was earth, wind, water or fire), those were also Transformers in Japan.  Not so much in the US, but they are another awesome toy you can thank Transformers for.

Japanese people must have small feet. That's the only reason I can think of for a shoe company like Nike to only make one size of a particular shoe, and to only make it 6" long.

I also had that Megatron, a kid could get shot these days running around the neighborhood with one.

one of my bigger regrets was taking my vast collection of GI Joes and picking them off sniper style with the M-16 bb gun I got for my 11th birthday.  That and not knowing what happened to my completely awesome Millennium Falcon.

Steel yourselves for the future struggle as you will not have access to enough sticks to beat away the fine young women that will be chasing after you in your Nissan Fairlady 280Z.

This fine quality ride that will undoubtedly get you the babes and can be yours for the low price of 8 to 15 dollars.  Though it is a go-bot (named Zeemon which is clearly a warning to the fillies on the level of Zeemon that will be in and around the facial area).  This is a family blog so I'll keep it clean.  Good little toy here.

I didn't collect gi joe stuff at all.  I couldn't tell you much on the current state of the market.  I will say that dino riders stuff is worth a ton of money.  They were extremely rare and only around during a limited window so collectors go nuts for those.

Edit: also worth a ton of money these days are M.A.S.K, He-Man, WWF wrestling toys from the 90s, and battle beasts.  Star Wars (before the 90s Power of the Force line) is obviously worth bank.  Power Rangers stuff is surprisingly doing well along with Beast Wars stuff from the 90s.

Things to watch out for...vintage gaming is on the rise with hipsters.  In the last year, 8-bit nintendo games have quadrupled in value.  It is definitely something to keep an eye on.  I recently bought an original gameboy at a garage sale for a quarter and sold it for 24.99 on ebay.

Ok here is a bunch of literal hold nuggets that I am reasonably sure are transformers related and of immeasurable value to a guy who has all the other pieces but his mum just vacuumed up the right fist or something.

These parts are actually where all the money is at.  For example, The Maroon head and fist and red chest piece belong to your broken dick Transformer (the main body to Computron).  Those three parts are worth somewhere in the neighborhood of about 30 to 35 dollars.

The black head is from Silverbolt.  The head itself is the piece that forms Superion's head (from those fun Aerial bots).  Worth about 15 bucks.

The gray belt, hat and gun are to a pretender named landmine.  It was red and yellow.   Those aren't worth too much (maybe 8-10 dollars together).

The light purple gun is to your Bristleback Transformer (that ugly pretender dude with a light purple shell that formed a piece of Monstructor).  That piece alone is worth about 15 - 20 bucks.

The two blue guns that match go to a pretender Transformer named Bomb-burst.  Those usually go in the 10-15 dollar range (there is a list right now on ebay for 13.34 for the two matching blue guns).

Just another day making bank Puni.

Interesting fact I learned: TYCO sold the same dinosaurs in sciency smithsonian branded dinosaur toys and used the same dinosaur models but with saddles and guns and crap for dino riders.

I didn't take to time to find the guns and armor and crap or you would feel differently maybe!

you guys, a couple of months ago i was at a friend of a friend house type thing in kc. this guy rents the house from some girls dad or something and it's a fine house with big back deck or whatever. point is, it's fine. anyway about half way into the night somebody is like oh god go show daris the basement. so i'm like oh god what's in the basement? then the guy i was with was like oh yeah you'll get a kick out of this and i'm like what am i going to get a kick out of? then he took me through the messiest room that i've ever seen in my life and i think it used to be the garage but i guess it's part of the house that nobody goes in because it's just filled w/ crap. like tons of crap from the dad or whoever lived there before or whatever. anyway, there are stairs and we climb over the crap go get to them and go down. it's an unfinished basement and it's kind of dark but we have my flashlight phone app or whatever and i look to the right and holy crap you guys. it is just the most amount of baseball cards that i've ever seen in my life but it's not just baseball cards. upon closer look it's football and basketball and hockey too and not just cards but like box upon box upon box of twenty and thirty and forty year old unopened wax packs and when i say a lot there is a lot you guys and it is taking me a while to get my bearings. that's when i fully take in the whole basement and that's when i realize that omg what i just saw was maybe 1/30th of what was down there and that it isn't even just sports cards it's sports memoribilia and unopened sports action figures from like 1982 and not just a couple but like hundreds and i think pro wrestlers too and boxes upon boxes of cards and unopened sets and ET the extra terrestrial cards and stars wars cards and just everything you could think of that was made between i'd say 1977-1997. it was unreal. just unreal. i'm guessing that the house is maybe worth 130k and what was in the basement was worth at least that much. if i ever go back i'll take pictures. sorry i don't have pictures or that there isn't more to the story but omg i just, i mean, i think there could be over 130k in that basement easy it was just crazy. i was down there for a half an hour just looking and still didn't see much of it. just box upon box upon box upon stuff hanging from the ceiling and pinned on the wall. like 15 unopened gary carter action figures from 1983. just weird you guys.

Oh man. I don't even want to know how many fortunes my walking brontosaurus with the lazer pods hanging off each side would fetch these days. That son of a bitch cost me $50 back in '89... my entire earnings from the Crayola Coloring Contest that year.

As a total nerd, I would have loved that basement.  Those star wars packs (from empire strikes back and return of the jedi) are worth tons of money.  If there were any Garbage Pail Kids cards, sealed wax packs, good god that is a ton of money per pack.  Depending on the series they can go for 10 bucks a pack.  Oh crap...if there are any Magic The Gathering cards in there...whoa.  I doubt there is, but it sounds as though this dude (which I am guessing has to be a dude) collected just cards in general.  If there are any Magic The Gathering cards from back in the day...those can go for hundreds for just one unopened pack.  That stuff in the basement paid for that house.  Unreal!  Nice story RD!

in fairness, anyone that goes down there would absolutely freak out over how much just stuff there is, the crap conditions in which it's all being kept and the crazy room you have to climb through to get down there.

i looked around for maybe twenty minutes and took way less than 5% of it in. you could easily spend a full week just looking through stuff. the guy who is living there is/was looking for a new job and i joked that he could just quit his current one and live for the next 5 years just by putting a couple of things on ebay every day. just file cabinets full of cards and then boxes and boxes just stacked and stacked and tons of stuff hanging from the ceiling. it wasn't just sports but sports stuff probably compromised a good 90-95% of it. like hey, who wants thirty unopened '97 donruss full sets? that guy apparently. seven 1984 unopened andrew dawson actions figures? why not! most of it not worth anything (aforementioned 150 gary thurmond rookies) but i have no doubt there is a lot down there that is. will take pictures if i go back.

Some really good stuff here.  Metroplex in the back is pretty awesome.  The dude to his left (our right) is built from the pieces of Metroplex.  It is one toy.  If there is a little black car in Metroplex's right (our left) boob...that would be awesome.  I'd say the Metroplex is worth anywhere from 50 - 75 dollars.  He looks to be in good shape.

Optimus Prime on the right is a second wave (I can tell by the light blue color legs he has. First wave Prime would have super deep/rich purple).  With no parts whatsoever, still around 10 bucks.  If it were first wave, it would be 20.

The cop car on the left is named Siren.  He is a headmaster so his head will come off and Transform into a little dude.  With what I see, probably around 50 dollars for him.  The head alone is worth around 40 dollars as those heads easily get lost over the years and people need that head (pun intended) to complete the toy.

The Mircroscope is Perceptor.  Total pimp.  With what I see...probably 15 bucks.  He looks to be in really good shape.

The hot rod dude is Rodimus Prime.  He is missing just about everything, but still would get you 10 bucks.

The Stegosaurus is name Snarl.  Without any parts, probably 15 to 20 dollars.

Last but not least is the saddest thing I have seen...parts of Megatron.  He looks like he has seen better days.  Still probably 10 to 15 dollars.

The market for old Transformers toys (just the bodies/without any parts) has skyrocketed in the last year.  People have been spending huge dollars on old junk bodies to customize, repaint and re-purpose.

did transformers toys or show come first?

Toys came first in the US.  The first Transformers toy was an Optimus Prime promotional piece through Pepsi two years before the show or comics came.  Marvel started the comics with a 4 issue limited series...but a year later debuted the next set of comics (shockwave was on the cover and it was pretty amazing).  Transformers were first in Japan and were called diaclones.  The US just ripped it off.  Japan also has their own story line which is effing nuts.

You have some really nice Transformers there.  The most expensive is the tall dude in the back named Abominus.  If you have all the parts...easily 150 to 200 dollars. Looking at his condition...probably 200.  Really nice toy.

The next piece I like is the dinosaur...Grimlock.  Complete bad ass.  He had a sweet gun and a wicked sword.  He looks to be in really really good shape.  If you have all the parts easily 100 dollars.  Total pimp.

I really like the blue cassette player you have...Soundwave.  He is pretty much my favorite Transformer of all time.  He is in really good shape as well.  Most of them can't even stand up on their own...but yours looks really good.  The gold cassette on the far left (the gold pterodactyl) goes with him (his name is buzzsaw).  He is also around 90 to 100 dollars complete with all parts.

I won't go through all the cassettes, but each is worth around 10 to 15 dollars each.  The two nice ones are rumble (the purple cassette in front of the red pterodactyl) and lazerbeak (the red pterodactyl).  If you have the parts 25 dollars each.

The blue jet is Thundercracker.  He is just like Starscream only blue.  He has the wrong fists, but looks to be in good shape.  The purple fist goes to Skywarp (a black and purple jet) and the black fist goes to Ramjet (a white and red jet).  A complete Thundercracker is about 75 to 100 dollars.

Hound is the green jeep.  This toy was really fragile so not many of them remain today.  A complete hound is about 90 bucks.

Nice score!

I have no idea about the Micro Machines.  maybe 40 to 50 for all of them?  The box will probably get you another 10 bucks.

No clue, but there is an actual hospital in Georgia where they "treat" them.  I am not kidding.  An effing hospital where they treat them like people and I have seen interviews with the nurses that get super pissed when the interviewer calls them dolls.  People from all over the world send their "kids" there for repair.  If there is an actual hospital still in operation today and people still send dolls there, you know the dolls have to be worth huge bank.

Nope.  You can't tame this stallion.  I got a new job earlier this year as a biostatistician and it has been a time suck.  Things are just now starting to slow down.  What did I miss Wacky (other than a really rough year in football).  At least my Royals kicked some ass.

Nope.  You can't tame this stallion.  I got a new job earlier this year as a biostatistician and it has been a time suck.  Things are just now starting to slow down.  What did I miss Wacky (other than a really rough year in football).  At least my Royals kicked some ass.
Royals won it all and we all partied. K-State will make a bowl if they end the year at 5-7 and the squawks are going crazy over it. Self is trying to destroy another lottery picks future again. ISU, ISU'd themselves and it was hilarious. I got a new job too and i'm not stealing from the poor anymore at this one. 8man & 'tater got engaged, i'm getting married in June in Colorado. Cats basketball might not suck that bad and the politics thread is blowing up!

Did 8man propose to 'tater?  That's the way I would have guessed it went down.  Definitely not the other way around.
