Ha Ha - $20 billion a year in medicare fraud and they waste time going after this.

The anti-NASA crowd is really a giant collection of dumbasses
-
Did not read the link, but nasa should have an unlimited budget and be able to do anything they want.
They landed on the rough ridin' moon.
-
I don't have a problem with asking, but like most things, why couldn't a simple call or email suffice. "Hey uh, that viking picture stuff didn't use any (X) funds and was not-for-profit right?"
But hey, it's politicians and gov't.

Great side NASA story. CNS Grandpa worked there in like the '70's or something.
He said that a bunch of the engineers used to use the left over project materials to build BBQ grills. Like, really elaborate ones. How awesome would that be?
I am pro-NASA getting stupid high levels of funding because space is super cool and I would like to see a few of these grills hit ebay.

Most gov't agencies would have required that left over material to either be tossed in the dumpster or sold at auction.

looks like my engineering physics study guide. not impressed, nasa.

why does the far right hate scientists and university faculty? is it just the money involved?
-
why does the far right hate scientists and university faculty? is it just the money involved?
I think they view universities as overwhelmingly liberal and can't separate that fact from the good that comes from science. (My theory).
-
That, and they are so biased themselves that they figure any development from a liberal has to be fabricated.

Knowledge is power.

Not sure you two know this or not, or are hoping nobody notices the fallacy in your statement which permits you to reach your libtard point of view, but not all university faculty are scientists.
You may have well as said, "why does the far right hate scientists and women"

Agree, he is very stupid for this. Should have cut from defense to fund NASA.

Hmmm, good question.

ppl hate to feel stupid and often strike against things that make them feel so.

As a moderate, I love the idea of scientists and universities as non-partisan stewards of knowledge that keep personal political biases personal. Same for the media, but I don't hold out much hope for either.

Taking man-made global warming out of the picture, what are some other examples of scientists' personal political biases affecting their science?

NASA is much more fun than having a ton of military bases in rando baltic countries.
-
also if they just put some missiles on the ISS and a minigun on the mars rover, the far right science haters would be swinging from NASA's sack

they also kill fewer people

House Republicans are getting old, period.

Nothing says anti-science like asking NASA to focus on manned space flights back to the moon and to explore establishing a base on the moon (which would likely facilitate missions like capturing asteroids and likely moving on to Mars).
Even one of the Dems quoted in the article said they weren't that enthused by NASA's presentation about capturing the asteroid, but it appears that the resident Obamabot lemmings think that a gov't agency can just show up with some half ass uninspiring plan and legislators are just supposed to throw open the checkbook and hand over a blank check. :jerk:
-
Asteroid mining would be a good project for private industry.

If that gov't agency is nasa, then yes they should be given a blank check.

No gov agency should be given a blank check.
-
nasa should be given a check which is basically blank but in the memo part it says "have fun but don't go crazy"

Asteroid mining would be a good project for private industry.
private industry isn't going to devote 20 years and billions of dollars to asteroid mining. stockholders simply wouldn't let them. companies should take over after the studs at nasa do the leg work.
-
Blank check.
Memo: "Blow my mind!"

Blank Check
Memo: "I want to vacation on Mars!"

Private companies are already in front of NASA and have docked with the ISS. NASA is hitching rides.
-
NASA taking economical routes in doing something others have done a bunch already(going to ISS). Sounds like they are good shepherds of our tax dollars.
BLANK CHECK!
-
The blank check comment aside, seriously  at you kool-aid drinkers who are calling the direction Republicans want NASA to take "anti-science".
Hey guys, we know this sounds really anti-science and all, but we want you to focus on doing that whole "go where no man has gone before" thing now.

The irony here is that you drink the right wing kool-aid more than any of us drink up the left wing BS. Republicans (and Democrats for that matter) have no business telling NASA where to focus their efforts. Let the scientists and the engineers do their jobs, approve/disapprove their budget, and move on. This is just another case of Republican obstructionism in an area of government that used to be pretty bipartisan.

LOL, you post links to thinkprogress, that's like the premiumiest of premium leftist kool aid
The second part of your statement is the most retardiest thin I've read in the pit in a while :smh:

This thread is just so awful. Good god.
Let us not forget the anti-science d-bag who unilaterally cut the shuttle program.
