Title: furniture/decorating thread
Post by: kim carnes on June 27, 2013, 12:36:45 PM
What do you think about this sectional?  I want something that is modern but not too modern.  Background: my house is in Brookside/Armour Hills so I need a healthy medium.

looks nice kc. does it come with an option for an unattached ottoman instead of attached? could make it more versatile.

Looks great. Hard to tell what is "too modern" w/o knowing what your house and other furniture is though.

I think sectionals are pretty trashy/man-cavey. Maybe this one?

http://www.crateandbarrel.com/klyne-sofa/s237518

They also have a non-sectional version of the one you like:

They're almost too common now. I'd find a place that will let you pick out your colors fabric legs etc. Itll take a while for it to be built but you'll be glad you waited...took my 5 piece 6 weeks but costs the same as any show room sectional

Yeah, I would start the bidding at $75, and probably be willing to go as high as $100.

I like table top extending out over the legs in all directions, so no.  Otherwise it's alright I guess.  Looks like you have an old floor for a table.

(Apologies in advance if you were talking about the floor, etc., and not the coffee table).

Since it may actually be more comfortable than the couch, instead maybe use it as a bench as well?

That couch looks about as comfortable as a futon. I mean, it's not going to hurt to sit on it or anything, but why would you pay more than $1000 for it?

That window area would actually be a pretty nice place to set a dining room table, if your living room is big enough to sacrifice the space. I really can't give any advice without knowing just how big the room is.

thanks dobber07
:shakesfist: You live in a hard to decorate, horribly laid out apartment. I figured you were looking for retro style garage sale furniture!

In that space, I think you'll simply have to put the tv in front of the windows.  With your couch facing it.  Just don't use a large tv stand & that should preserve most of your view.  And definitely get bar stools, like RD suggested.

Put the TV to the left of the windows and angle a couch with it's back to the right bedroom. Or try it on the opposte sides. See what looks better. Leave enough space behind the couch so that you can walk around it to either side. putting a couch against a wall is almost always a horrible idea for flow.

bunk beds with your bro and turn the other bedroom into a purely media room then put a chaise in front of the window to enjoy your million dollar view

edit: bro or gal (ladybro) or course
