Art gets surgery on his wrist (knee was just a smokescreen?), and Will is a terrific basketball player, his weak legs and shitty teammates have been conspiring against him.

The idea of a Diaz RS is intriguing but if it was going to happen it should have happened this year.  No way we can afford that next year unless oscar has some major studs up his sleeve.

Based on his past performance, what would we really lose if Diaz is a RS next season?

Another warm body. Dude is useful in certain roles and him eating a scholarship while redshirting isn't exactly going to be beneficial.

Yeah, like I said, redshirt him this year and he could have been good next yr.  But there's no realistic way to redshirt him next year unless oscar is just willing to throw away a season and wait for Angel's senior campaign in 2014 (at which point our collective pitchforks will be dangerously close to oscar's colon).

I know this Team #BurnItDown must be a lot of fun for all you guys, but c'mon, comparing Prince to oscar is silly. oscar will most likely be very similar to Frank here, in terms of results, but instead of the 'Sideline Psycho' shtick, he's a goofy loser. oscar has had a good coaching career, no reason to think he will just destroy the program.

I don't think oscar will be similar to Frank.  Also, anytime you compare anyone to Prince you have to account for batshit insane entertainment factor.  Regardless of wins, oscar falls woefully short on that.  Frank was closer

You're an idiot.  Which one was more entertaining, oscar's Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) media non-comments or Ron Prince doing radical bullshit and 5 trick plays a game?  The biggest difference is that if there was a Prince equivalent in basketball, he would get 5-7 years.  Much longer leash in basketball than football.

Comparing their first years, losing in the first round of the NCAAs is pretty damn comparable to losing the Texas Bowl.

I enjoy the conference title as much as the next guy, but I don't care about it as far as grading oscar's future potential.  I don't think oscar will be able to win a conference title again the same way he did this year.  Getting swept by KU and then hoping KU drops one at home and one to the worst team in the conference is not repeatable.  Being a game back as KU goes into their final game and watching them lose is not repeatable.  Not that its not a legitimate title, but how much credit should oscar get for the conference title when that many breaks went his way?

Also, as nice as that shared title was, I grade a majority of the season on the NCAAs.  Not getting out of the first round is inexcusable for a team.  Especially one that you want to laud for winning a conference title.

If you looked at just results, they will probably be similar.  If you look at everything rough ridin' else, Ron Prince was light years better.

This might be one of the dumbest things i've seen on this board.

Comparing their first years, losing in the first round of the NCAAs is pretty damn comparable to losing the Texas Bowl.

how convenient to leave out the Conference title oscar just won, which hasn't happened in over 3 decades. This season was nothing like a 7-6 football season, JFC.

This is the first time since 04-05 that KU has lost more than 3 conference games, and they've only lost 3 conference games twice since then. Do you really see oscar Weber competing for Big 12 titles on a regular basis?

I think oscar is more than capable of doing what Frank had been doing (finishing in top 4-5 of league) ...All i was trying to say is that, comparing oscar to Prince is a pretty big stretch, especially their first seasons. Call me crazy, i guess.

Prince recruited most of the studs that took Old Balls to a Fiesta Bowl.  So there's that.

Yes he did a wonderful job of getting Chris Harper and Arthur Brown to K-State. On opposite day.

Prince recruited Klein.  I mean, if Klein = most of the studs then I guess you're right.  Other than that, very little Prince influence

Reading Beems posts about football is

That is one thing that bothered me after the LaS game, that he blamed it on freethrow shooting.   Take a lesson from frank and just call the players selfish or some stupid crap, don't pull some BS excuse out of your ass.

If you want to compare Webster at KSU to another coach, compare him to Webster at Illinois. Playing in the Big 12 Confy Title game and sharing the Confy Championship with KU = Playing in the National Title game while at Illinois. Expect similar, but at a different level, results because Webster at KSU did not have as many horses in the stable as Webster at Illinois did upon arrival.

Well, oscar is in good company.

Quote
The guy still cuts his own lawn, with a humble mower, 40 minutes, back and forth making sure the lines are precise.

"Yes, he mows his own lawn on a push mower," said son Patrick, who played for his dad at West Virginia, assisted him at Michigan and is now in the family business as the head coach at West Virginia Wesleyan. Well, John cuts it, unless Patrick or one of his brothers is home to do it. The coach is still there to monitor the process, of course.

"He'll say, 'Patrick, look at how your lines are,' " the son laughed. "That's just how he was raised. He was taught to do things by himself."
