I thought the thing about Willis is that he has amazing numbers in the weightroom, he just looks like he wants nothing to do with contact on the field.

yes. it would be nice to see some senior highlights because that was the case in his junior film.

So he will be moved to lb and will dominate then, right?

he doesn't have skinny legs but they are long.  A lot of big, long athletes with bulk look that way in shorts.  he doesn't look 255-260 until he gets on the scale.

don't think i didn't notice the rump.

common amongst great athletes but not normal within the realm of average athletes.  there is a box jump of 55" by JJ Watt online and people go crazy about it.  Of course he's phenomenal and tested a 38" vertical at the combine.  Box jumps and dead lifts are measures of core strength and power...most identical to functional playing strength as you can get in the weight room.

i don't get the physical comments.  he was 200lbs as a junior and had sat out football for a year.  Besides, he was more of a pass rusher.  People said the same things about Tuman (kid out of Liberal that went to Michigan) and Whitehair.  Those comments got buried under their play at the next level.  Sometimes that is an indication and sometimes it isn't.  Time will only tell.  But there is zero doubt about his abilities as a pass rusher.  I'm certain he will become a more physical player at the next level because it will be demanded of him.  He certainly will have the size and tools to do just that.

I'll add that a lot of people think football is just about kicking the ass of the guy across from you in dominating fashion and if you don't do that often then you're soft.  It depends on what assignments they may have when you're watching.  If a defensive end or, for that matter, any lineman on either side of the ball just fires off the ball and tries to destroy his man every play that can lead to things you don't want.  About the only place where that needs to occur on a regular basis is nose guard.  There is a lot of positioning and reading what the other side is doing before going into beast mode.  If a defensive end simply tries to maul the tackle every play the offense will use it against him.  So, in this case, if you see Willis (whose responsibility on a given play) is to extend the arms and read, then it might appear to you he is soft.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

Who said this about Tuman?  He was a rough ridin' beast who punished people at the TE spot.  I played against him, watched film...it was frightening.

The box was 60" off of the ground, but that is not how you measure a vertical jump. It's still pretty impressive, but his vertical is nowhere near 60". It's probably closer to 40".

How are you getting 255-260? (Not saying that he can't reach that weight with his height) I see him listed as about 220 and that looks about right, no way is he pushing 240.

Most recent reports that I've heard have said 220 is way outdated. He is +250 now.

Yeah he was a monster who I'm fairly certain roid raged as a high schooler. I played basketball against him, I hated his guts. 'Zacker did you compete in the elite WAC?
