It's bad.
-
Glad i'm not the only one to notice
-
Update: getting worse.
-
LOL, makeup calls, textbook terrible officiating.
-
our defense is just awful, but we have 14 fouls and WV only has 5.
-
Where does the Big XII get it's refs? This is awful. So many bad calls against KSU then the last few minutes make up calls. I'm glad they didn't give a foul on that obvious flop before the end of the half.
-
It was abysmal. No consistency for teams that play at similar levels of aggressiveness on defense.
-
It was horrendous against tbpSU and it's far worse today.
-
is there anything worse than people who bitch about the officials? i say, no, there isn't.
-
is there anything worse than people who bitch about the officials? i say, no, there isn't.
I can think of at least one thing...
-
It's the reason the game is close. Just awful.
-
People bitching about people bitching is the most pud though KC
-
Somehow getting worse. It's like one giant rotating makeup call for each team.
-

Kim carnes is worse and it's not even close
-
People bitching about people bitching is the most pud though KC
not really though
-
Holy crap, that stretch leading up to the under 8 timeout was some of this most comicly bad officiating I've ever seen. WTF is going on here?
-
Worse than playing in Allen Fieldhouse.
-
this is what it felt like to play us the last few years.
-
Ironic that we win with two free throws.
-
2nd half it wasnt as bad, but Rod got bumped with about a minute to go and us up 1. Exact same thing happened in 1st half and they called the bump on Nino. That is what pisses me off with officiating, when they are so inconsistent it drives you crazy.
-
Hope the refs don't steal our bus. :curse:
-
It's the reason the game is close. Just awful.

Kim carnes is worse and it's not even close
He's as bad as the officials were. Which is really bad.
-
this is what it felt like to play us the last few years.
Yeah, but I don't ever remember a game where an opponent got into the bonus for less than a minute in a game.
-
The goaltending call won the game for us, just like that crappity color guy said it would.
-
I find myself longing for a game called by John Higgins and that old guy with the shoe polish black hair.
-
The officials were really bad in this game, JO had some stupid fouls but the refs called a lot of little bump fouls on K-State but then wouldn't call WV on the same type of plays. The refs made up it up a few times with some bad calls giving K-State the ball (ex. Will's pass out of bounds that we kept possession of then scored). The thing that bothered me with that is that it still gave WV the advantage because our bigs were in foul trouble & WV would stay out of foul trouble. I would rather a WV player get a foul as oppose to a shitty call that lets K-State get to keep the ball & no foul on WV. That is where Huggins & his players were stupid for not getting the ball inside more to Murray. Late in the game JO already foul out, Diaz is hurt, & Gip can't guard as normal because the officials would call a foul on him.
I could care less if the officials call touch fouls, just call it both ways. Most important thing is K-State won today.
-
That old ref was the guy at the Sprint Center who was adamant that Sprads wasn't fouled at the end of the first half. I see he has not improved since Christmas.
-
The goaltending call won the game for us, just like that crappity color guy said it would.
Both sides benefited from comically horrendous calls. The one against WVU led directly to KSU points. The other was the five second call against us. The official counted four with his arm and then blew the whistle. The mechanic is to count 5 with your arm and then blow the whistle.
Those two calls were simply wrong, there was no judgment. All of those crappy fouls could be justified by (poor) judgment.
-
Remember when Sprads threw the ball straight out of bounds, clearly not hitting anyone, and they gave the ball back to us?
-

The home team procures them. There are no conference refs (would cost too much is the consensus - for you would have to pay about twice as much per game so these guys would do 5 or 6 games a week).
Mizzou often selected refs that would be intimidated by their crowds (when their fans actually showed up) when they were in the Big12. Their home refs tended to only work Mizzou homes games, and otherwise Horizon League and other small venues where they generally didn't see more than 5,000 a game. Thus, when the crowd got riles in Columbia they would roll over and not call a thing of the Tiggers.

Yeah less than a minute for the whole game is bad. One game that is close:

^K-State was beating Texas by 13 at the half (game was in Austin & Texas needed a win to help get into March Madness). K-State didn't shoot a FT in the 2nd half & Texas shot 48 FTs to K-State's 12 FTs for the game.

This post is completely untrue, take this bullshit to wabash station. Curtis Shaw, the Big 12 coordinator of officials, assigns officials to games. JFC how dumb, go away.
-
Strange, I always thought Big Sam was one of the lesser tucks from over there too.

Rain, does Shaw assign OOC officials?
I thought home teams at some point in the season at least play a role in procuring officials.

No Big Sam is a super-tuck, awful.
Horrendous overrule call in the bedlam game
-
The officiating has been horrible!
Horrible refs
We are getting jobbed.
We did not give this one away as much as the refs gave KSU way too many calls/breaks. We still shot 51% from the field and 50% from 3.
-
Oh my.
-
Oh my.
WVU fans are awful. Football was bad enough, but man.
-
No couch is safe in Morgantown tonight.
-
The first score of the game was one of the worst calls. Just shoved gipper with his shoulder, then made an uncontested shot for an and 1.
-
so I had to listen to the 1st half on the radio and I have never heard Wyatt directly address a referee on a bad call.
So was the first half worse than @Texas 2nd half or not? I haven't had a chance to watch the replay yet.
-
Both halves were equally awful
-
did u guys see how many inbreds were in the student section? i mean eff. :sdeek:

Yeah, the first half reminded me a lot of that game, if the second half was called that way then we would have lost...and probably bad. Not that the second half was good, but it wasn't buttfuck without lube kind of bad. It was alluded to somewhere else in this post, but the thing about the officiating that really hurt us was our bigs constantly having to play reserved on defense because they were all about to foul out. Whereas WVU got to play balls to the wall the entire game without any thought of foul trouble. Oh yeah, and the free throws thing. Although they couldn't make theirs, which helped.

College basketball officiating has gotten rediculously bad over recent years. It's rough ridin' atrocious and I cannot believe something isn't being done about it. You just want to strangle those effing idiots after nearly every possession. I remember telling my son recently that you know how bad officiating has gotten when Higgins is the one in charge of make-up calls.
I can't even hardly stand to watch a game any more, and am pretty sure my doctor would not like what it does to my blood pressure. Between shitty officiating and not having a guard that can hit an uncontested 3-pointer or a big man that can make a layup, I'm pretty sure I'm getting close to having a stroke.
-
Sweet avatar, cvmcat.

The supervision of officials is amazingly awful. Most conference supervisors are recently retired officials evaluating their friends. Its a cushy job with great pay and high job security. What is making things worse is the proliferation of NBA officials fired getting high profile college conferences.
-
wow. tonight was bad. not bias bad, well except for Huggins absolutely clownsuiting them, but over all really bad.
-
48 fouls. 29 in the 2nd half. I cant even count how many of those fouls were ticky tacky.
Glad had the big lead but those refs had no clue what they were doing out there tonight.
-
my god, i hate this thread. are you fans of the kstate wildcats or of the refs? take it to a rough ridin' reffing and college bball quality board if you want to discuss these Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) topics.

I'm usually pretty meh about officiating, but tonight was terrible. I hate it when they take away any flow to a game, and they did that and more.

did they cost us the game? no, ergo it's all irrelevant. you play to win the game, not to allow refs to ref.
-
At one point I had to switch the channel to the Baylor/UCONN game.........was making my eyes bleed. Sucks that it was our Big Monday game and nobody outside of Kansas/West Virginia watched it

I don't believe in officials ever really costing a team a game.
I do believe they can get caught up in whatever they get caught up in and poorly call a game. Tonight they did.

Completely and totally false. Their job is to ref the game within the boundaries of the rules. Not to get caught up in emotion and alter the game.

Can we take a sidebar and talk about how terrible fran is? Far worse than any officiating.

Yes, let's. He was terrible.
-
Kilicli's first foul might have been the worst I have ever seen. We need a gif of that.

On par with Gipson's first foul vs KU. I don't think I've ever seen Gip have a cleaner boxout. They were both just head-scratching bad, I mean, they got PAID to make those calls.

I'd take Fran over Bob Knight any day.
-
who cares who's calling a game unless it is Bilas or Gottleib. :ck:
-
I always enjoy when Jon "Boog" Sciambi calls games. He's probably my favorite right now, especially when he gets paired with somebody good.
-
Sciambi is great.
-
His mouth is crooked and it bugs me
-
Bilas
Christ
-
KU not getting calls!! :emawkid:
-
Lucas hasn't been watching the 2nd OT. My goodness this is awful. Smart's 4th and 5th foul. With on the line with about a minute to go. Just awful work.
-

Smart's 5th foul, really? I guess it should not have been a charge even though Releford was set just waiting for Smart. That was about as no brainer of a charge call as you can get.
-
Smarts 5th was def a foul. Now, cobbins', no. Withey is the only big in the conf that gets away with initiating so much wrap up contact only for the other guy to get called. Happened on cobbins and jurick last night in 2ot. Huge horrible calls.
Sent from my KFTT using Tapatalk 2
-
Withey's got that cute move where he dives into the defender with his shoulder, gets pushed back, waves his arms and gets free throws -- you now, the one that fouled Gip out of the game in Lawrence.
Why that is a basketball move worthy to two points is beyond me. But more or less carried KU in overtime.

By that standard Smart's 4th foul should have gone the other way. ( I think that was his charging call)
-
I hate this thread and I hate when fans blame officiating on a loss, but omg the away WVU game and higgins following around KU across the country really grinds my gears you guys.
-

I think you are mistaking the point of many posts. Its really sad that major college basketball can't have competent officials who don't alter games with their incompetence.
-
I don't think the refs were really favoring KU at OSU, but my God, I don't think a group of officials could possibly ruin an overtime more than those bozos did. 2 overtimes, and KU only makes 1 FG because those guys turned it into a free throw shooting contest.
-
Egregiously one sided so far. eff these idiot refs
-
Egregiously one sided so far. eff these idiot refs
this team sucks at basketball.
-
I'm sick and rough ridin' tired of this officiating dumbfuckery. We're taking the ball to the goddamn rack and they're grabbing, hacking, body checking all over the place with impunity. On the other end non-contact on evans yields 10 rough ridin' free throws. This league and its officials are a goddamn joke.
-
Definitely the most even sided calls I've seen all season in Big 12 for a cats game.
-
Absolutely hammered on our last two layups, osu shooting fts
-
The OSU guy slipping on the BigXII emblem for Wades 4th foul was fantastic.
-
That over and back call was lollz tarded
-
JFC, fsd, you really should have bumped this thread when it mattered. Petty pouting tonight. We won the calls.....wait for it...... ON THE ROAD TONIGHT!
-
Kenpom says otherwise, wackycat
