So far, we have:
Dakorey Johnson (juco)
Nick Ramirez (hs)
Isaiah Williams (hs)
That would leave us pretty young. Who else are we after?
-
Tre needs to not only be back at 100% but to make huge improvements against the pass to be on the field for more than 25% of the snaps.
-
So, we may be playing true freshman at linebacker next year? :ohno:
-
TAIT!!!!
-
Mike Moore :dunno: Is he any good? :dunno:
-
Sam Johnson...the next great former QB converted to LB! Can't wait to see him throwing up the lynch mob on fools next year. :lynchmob:
-
Sams at lb.

Yeah, as adorable as Tre is, it is pretty clear that our coaches haven't been comfortable with him on the field against the pass. Possibly Truman? We've seen very little of him outside of special teams, but when he has played he has looked pretty decent.
-
Sams at lb.
honestly he would dominate
-
Tre Walker
Blake Slaughter
Jonathon Truman
Mike Moore
IsaiahJohnson
Will Davis
David Smith
Nick Ramirez
so yeah, not great.
-
Slaughter may be decent. Isn't he like 24 or something?
-
Walker, Truman, Slaughter have experience. Hopefully someone like Moore or Davis gets into the mix. Then the recruits coming in.
-
decent players with some experience. so it's not the worst there's ever been, but when you're replacing almost an entire defense, there's not much reason to be super confident. but that's how i felt about the d-line coming into this year.
-
Slaughter may be decent. Isn't he like 24 or something?
Yeah I want to say he's like a sixth year senior. At the awards ceremony, they were showing some pretty cool footage of him talking to the team before a game. He seems like one of the emotional leaders of the team. My guess is that it'll be Tre, Slaughter, and maybe Mike Moore or Truman for the third.

Yeah, LB is a concern. But so is CB and defensive line. We lost a lot, we need a lot of new guys to step in and be at least decent.
-
How often are we going to play with three LB's on the field?
-
How often are we going to play with three LB's on the field?
If this year is any indication, then about 10% of the time, and almost never against several of the teams on our schedule.
-
That probably has as much to do with the quality of the personnel on the field than anything, right? I mean, I am no Johnny's manager, but it seems that if you have an Arthur and can rely on him to do what Arthur does, you can allocate others elsewhere. Right?
-
I can't tell you the best night to run the $.25 wing deal either, but I agree that Arthur made about any play-call a decent one.
-
we run a lot of nickel (2 lb's), but you have to have at least 4 guys that you can count on constistently. especially with losing arthur.
-
when in the nickel, randall evans is just as good as any of our LBs against the run.
-
when in the nickel, randall evans is just as good as any of our LBs against the run.
yeah, he's good
-

Definitely agree
-
i sort of tend to forget about evans, but he could potentially have a 'breakout' season next year
-
Sams at lb.
honestly he would dominate
Seems like he would need to be bigger and enjoy contact more :dunno:
I know Tuggle made the switch but Tuggsy had at least an inch and 30+ lbs on Samsy
-
wasn't there a freshman or rs freshman lb that snyds mentioned this summer?
-
wasn't there a freshman or rs freshman lb that snyds mentioned this summer?
mike moore. he got some spot time this year.
-
Starters will be Walker, Slaughter, and one of Ramirez, Moore, or Truman.
-
I have been impressed by Moore.
would be very surprised if he wasn't a productive player for us next year
-
The MLB position was going to be a huge downgrade next year regardless. We're now arguing on the degree.
This defense is going to struggle next year with so many new players. We're better off starting Moore or Ramirez and getting them ready for 2014.
-
Losing Arthur is huge. Several times every game last year I would see someone zip through the line at super human speed and make a tackle and I would think "man who was that?" and almost every time it was Arthur.

Yeah, either him or Davis.
-
As soon as I heard that Spaight was choosing between us and Arkansas I knew we had lost him.
-

we all did
-
Truman, Walker and Slaughter can make plays if the d-line can do it's job. They won't be good enough to overcome O-lineman constantly getting to the second level.

Arthur was really good and our DL were better than we expected they would be. scary this season again.
-
Slaughter shouldn't touch the field he is a future coach in training. If the defense is bad you might as well play Moore and Ramirez a lot and invest in the future.
-
Tre will move have to MLB. He is a senior and was playing it freshman year.
-
Spaight sucks, no big loss here
-

between the tackles? they could do an average to slightly below average job. outside of the tackles though, jfc, they can't compete at all.
-
Nash should be able to hold the edge, so that might help the 'backers :dunno:
-
serious question- is this the evidence we needed to completely shut down the coffeeville/ksu connection? because nothing would make me happier than to nail that door shut once and for all.

Why not take it a step further and just redraw the border and give OK all of coffeebreathville?
-
serious question - i'd love to blame this on coffeyville's RB's coach, dickie rolls.
but then i'm guessing this came down to cville's defensive coordinator trying to get back to arkansas (where he's from). the dude's name is PAIGE anders. weird name for a man, my guess is he is creating a funnel to arkansas and we see his ass take some bs grad job there in a year or two after funneling arkansas a bunch of studs.

We'll never never know because our dl is going to be terrible.

we are mumped

I agree that we are mumped

Probably win the conference with two losses, mumped!
-
We have to move Travis Green to linebacker mumped? :dunno:
-
We are fine at LB. JFC
-
We are fine at LB. JFC
I felt really good about having 2 incoming freshmen and 2 incoming JUCOs. With only 1 incoming JUCO now, the potential impact is lessened. Of course, if Ramirez is good enough to come in and play significant minutes right away, it's a moot point.
-
I agree that we are mumped
how mumped do you think we are?
proper mumped
-
did this spaight guy eff us? because that is complete bullshit.
maybe WRCOAT told him to eff off and get bent because of our other new commits.
-
I agree that we are mumped

Probably tie for second in the conf and watch OSU take the at large while OU Autoqualifies mumped.

We'll never at-large anyway, so what's your point?
We're "okay" at LB. Spaight would have made it like a B- to a B sort of scenario.

Point is that we will be good, but not as good as we are this year.

Heard Ramirez is likely to Grey shirt and he is fine with it. :dunno:

I guess the coaching staff isn't worried then. :dunno:

There aren't going to be a lot of JUCOs at this point that will probably be a lot better than Ramirez now.
I think what they're saying is that they'd rather he come in and have a full spring/summer to develop and play as a true fresh in 2014 with the potential to redshirt down the line if he gets injured.

Unless are staff doesn't think as highly of him as the recruiting site think of him. <- I believe this to be the case.

If only two turds didn't waste some schollies from last class... :bang:
-
So rough ridin' mumped

Kim, do you ever get tired of your schtick? It's kinda getting boring for us. Mix it up, dork.

Fanning, I would rather put up with Kimmy than that boring rough ridin' depressed BB bored. :grrr:

We have to move Travis Green to linebacker mumped? :dunno:
I'm excited about him, for some reason. (Prob cause he's hawt.) Anyhoo, I kinda figured he would play lb in nickel. :dunno:
-
Clone ABJ and are problems are solved
-
Truman would seem to be a good fit for a nickel package LB. He has speed to cover and it appears he can tackle well
-
Can't do it from my phone, but will say Dakorey Joshnson is very gorgeous
A bit Arthurish

I've heard Green may be used similar to how Tuggle was used this past season.

Would like to see Green Play a role kinda like Garrett Played, use his speed to cover the field.....
-
forgot about this guy. just had a pick vs the fighting kingsbury's
-
He'd be buried on the bench behind some slow rough ridin' crackers here. Glad he's seeing the field though.
