I'm currently sitting at mom and dads house watching the new Spiderman on a Saturday night. A young filly asked me last night what I was doing after the bars and I said "sleeping and I can't wait!" When did I get old? I'm 28, should I plan for the worst from here? T's & P's, young pup, fanning.
-
fanning, what i wouldn't give to be 28 again.
-
Pretty old imo.
Gramps.
-
no
-
yeah, ur pretty old
-
Probably should schedule a prostate check IMO

can you still tailgate on the east side without feeling weird?

Yup. I get a lot of "fanning, your the man" calls though. So I don't know if it's legit or not.
-
I'm a long way past 28...in fact, I'm at an age I used to think would be old. But I don't feel old. Still very spry.
In fact, I think I could kick Johnny Manziel's ass right now.
-
kinda old

I watched an episode of The League earlier and it covered the topic. I looked my friend in the eye and told him we're going to have to go through that one day. :horrorsurprise:
-
When I'm 28 I definitely won't consider myself "young" anymore. I won't be sad about it though. Or at least i hope I won't.
-
Late 20s is probably the most fun age to be IMO
-
Just act how you feel fanning and you can't go wrong, unless you feel rapey or molesty. Then don't.
-
Late 20s is probably the most fun age to be IMO
Good mix of decent income and low responsibilities (as long as you aren't popping out kids)
-
Holy eff, Fanning is almost 30.
-
Late 20s is probably the most fun age to be IMO
Yes. Was great.
-
Fanning there will be good days and bad days. Hang on to the good days.
-
It's not the amount of years in the life, it's the amount of life in the years.
-
I'm 28 too!
-
It's not the amount of years in the life, it's the amount of life in the years.
:D
-
i vote mid 20's, but late 20's is very close second.
-
probably better find a filly and settle down soon, fanning, before it's too late and you end up like brad
-
I'm 28 and I only feel old after heavy drinking or after 10PM.
-
lot of 28 year olds here (i'm one of them) :surprised:
-
Guys, early thirties are better....that is unless you waited to nail down a legit career or get married/have kids until later in life. Then, oh man...
-
I was shutting down bars 4 nights a week at 35 and pulling all nighters... It's not about age,, it's about the desire to be legendary... and being friends with a LOT of bartenders.
-
Today I got up without an alarm clock, went to Lowes, knocked down a section of fence, pulled out a bent post and set a new one. All before noon.

Good grief. Slow down old man.
BTW, 29 in two weeks. :D
-
Age is a state of mind bros.
Keep your pussy intake consistent and you'll never think about how old ya are.
-
Blew up my hamstring this morning in my workout.
Super old feeling.

Whoa, I just thought it was a timely bump bro. :)

Well I just turned 25 a few months ago, so I guess the best years are still ahead of me.

you won't consider yourself old though. old is a moving bar. when you are in college, 28 is old but when you're 28, mid thirties is old and then when you are mid thirties you're like well i mean it's not like i'm forty or anything, i mean forty is old.
-
Calling yourself old in your 20's is very hipster

Turned 27 last week. Wake up before 8 on the weekends now :shakesfist:

I don't feel old, but I have knee issues, and my back needs a chiropractor, but other than that, I feel exactly like I did at 20.

other than my liver, i think i've already had all my bad parts replaced and could kick 20 y/o tobias' ass

Metabolism isn't as great as it once was for me.
-
Embrace your age Fanning. Come meet me for dinner tonight. I'll see you at the Golden Corral at 4:30 pm.
-
You're an adult at 28 but sure as hell not old. It's Probably one of the best ages you can be. If you look at pro athletes that is about your peak age physically. Also if you're single it gives you a large window of girls to date. Once you hit 30 some girls in the early 20's start cutting you off. If I could pick an age and stay that way for the rest of my life 28 would probably be my choice.
-
people who are 28 are huge dumbasses and know nothing about life, fwiw. after you hit 30 you start becoming less of a dumbass.
-
There are like one or two smart people in this thread. The rest of you are a bunch of pussies.
28 old?......pfft.
:cyclist:
-
My dad just turned 39 and he said it's kind of depressing and he's pretty much staring his 40's in the face.
So no, Fanning, embrace your late 20's while you still can cuz it's a great time and not old at all.

Oldness confirmed by medical professional.
Saw the doc about the hamstring I f'ed this weekend. He asked me how I did it and I told him that it was on a treadmill but that I went a head and did my other exercises as long as they didn't give me hamstring pain. I told him squats, lunges, etc. He said that I should consider never doing squats or lunges ever again and that this has noting to do with my hamstring. I looked at him weird and started to tell him that I thought it odd my doc was telling me to stop working out in certain ways. He cut me off: "....how old are you getting to be (looks back at chart)..oh yeah, 34, you should seriously stop doing squats and lunges. No good will come of it."
:surprised:

I'm convinced your doctor is an idiot when it comes to this. Both excersices work your hamstrings and at a spry 34 you're not old enough to where squats are going to cause any damage as long as you are using proper form. I hope you at least got some decent painkillers out of all this. Are you stretching before and after you workout?
-
Maybe it's a giant problem? :dunno:
-
I f'ed it up on a sprint sesh on the treadmill. Nothing to do with my lifts and I was able to do them fine as I have for like forever.
The doc said that they medical community are finding that squats and lunges do long term things to everyone and that continuing to do them is not smart "especially if you are already in your mid thirties".
Sounds completely Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) to me.
-

No, denied. He mentioned nothing of the sort and said it was an everyone problem.

I know a lot of old people that say their 30s are the best time of their life. I don't believe them, and they sound like they are in complete denial.

Did he suggest any alternatives or are 30-year-olds just supposed to live with pussy legs? Also, is he fit?

This was my thought, too. If he isn't giving you an alternative to strengthen your legs, he sounds like a dumbass based on these two message board posts.

He is very fit.
I asked the same thing. He said that everyone should stop the leg workout and spend a bunch more time running, biking, or looking Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) on the elliptical.

Pure running seems way worse for your knees than a properly done lunge or squat.

I'm sold. I'm off leg lifts from now on. In fact, I'm going to take it to the next level and just get a wheelchair. My knees will be in tremendous shape. When I'm 60, I'll still have the knee cartilage of a 30-year-old. Enjoy your replacement knees dipshits.
-
Fwiw I stopped doing leg workouts since I left college. I mean I run and jump rope and stuff, but eff that. I hate leg workouts.

Not 6, I'm 14. Thought everyone on this board was in junior high/early high school. Except for Pissclams who's that cool edgy older kid.

i squat and do leg workouts sometimes but if any place on my body is going to get left out, it's going to be the legs.

Yep. I'm 27 (turning 28 in late October), and I've recently stopped doing squats because of the toll they were taking on my body. I could feel a pinched nerve starting to form in my spine from where the squat bar sits on the bridge of the back. My knees were also becoming increasingly sore. Even if you have perfect form, squats are still going to compress the spine and put stress on the knees and other joints. I've switched to more distance running lately, and honestly, I feel a lot better than I did when I was lifting heavy.

Nice work Beems. I subbed in running for squats and I felt so much better after few weeks.

Yeah, but how are your quads and glutes looking? Spindly at best is this poster's guess.
-
Guys, here is my issue. I hate running for more than like 10 min. It's so boring. How do you unplug and forget that you have a functional brain in order to keep running even though it is more boring than basically anything else known to man?

play basketball.
Not running, but you could try a spin class. Lots of folks like those.
-

That rhyme was pretty legit...almost too legit.
Quads and glutes are just okay. I play a lot of basketball and tennis along with running so they could be worse but butter. Definitely not elite.

Daydream about being a regular sized man with fabulous legs.

I would love to play BB, but would have to travel because the other ppl that go to my small town Y suck.
I am going to just keep doing leg workouts and stuff.

Yes, just not if it is me and no one else in the gym. I mean, I could make it a good work out, but that would be kinda weird.

It wouldn't be weird if you did a solo b-ball drill workout, though. who gives a crap what sucky people think, anyways?

I'm just talking 2-5 mile runs a few times a week. Maybe "jogging intermediate distances" is a better way of explaining it. Squats are okay if you do a moderate amount of weight. Obviously the more you lift, the more stress you're putting on your back and knees.
-
what does jumping up and down a million times do to your body? (re:insanity workouts) :runaway:
