I think so, almost for sure.
-
$400.
In the open market, up to $800 for nothing special.
-
eleventy trillion
-
If you have to ask you can't afford it.
-
$350 for season ticket holders
-
If you can snag some from the KSU allotment, $325 - $350. If you can't, then it depends on who we're playing. If it's ND or anyone from the SEC, expect $600+. Better hope Oregon finds a way to squeak in there. I've heard their fan base is small and losery.

are you guys talking about american dollars ? :dunno:
-
If you can find a ticket for under $800, snatch it now. Face value is $325.
Unless your ranking on the Ahearn Fund is pretty high (sub 4K, which is ~$4K in donations + season tickets over the past 3 years), I don't expect you can get tickets.
Last year Bama and LSU got 17K tickets each. Consider most people will be allowed 4+ tickets, that allotment will go fast...
Average price of tickets last year was $1600, but this includes all the lower level seats, suites/club seats. Upper level tickets will range from 600ish-A LOT. Set up a price alert on stub hub if you want to watch prices.

I could be wrong, but I'm not.
-
Alabama not being in the game will really bring down prices. If it's Oregon v. KSU expect a reasonable aftermarket price.
-
scalp. the answer is always scalp.

is showing up at FLL and driving to miami gardens without a ticket a good plan? i feel like there will be enough scalpers? yes/no/maybe?

:ohno: I'm ranked at 3600 and I'm really hoping to get some with the allotment even though I'm sure it will probably be upper level.
Anybody else have an educated guess on where you'll need to be?

K-State Athletics anticipates being able to fill all ticket orders for bowls other than the AT&T Cotton Bowl.

The pre-order form made it pretty straight forward any Ahearn Fund member who pre-ordered tickets would get tickets. How many tickets do you think they allot each team? Do you think K-State has 25-30,000 people who donate $4,000+?

No, but it states pretty clearly that:
Ahearn Fund members and season ticket holders will receive seating preference for bowl orders placed by the priority ticket deadline.
$10,000 and up – 12 tickets
$5,000 to $9,999 – 10 tickets
$1,000 to $4,999 – 8 tickets
$50 to $999 – 6 tickets
K-State alumni, season ticket holders, and other fans w/o Ahearn Fund membership – 4 tickets
So, at 17K tickets, I'm pretty sure there will be A LOT of people buying their max allotment of tickets and then selling them on the open market to pay for the trip. I know I would.
I'm calling the ticket office tomorrow to figure this out.

I'm guessing there will be around 17k tickets. With 3600 people ahead of me, there would have to be an average of 4.72 tickets sold to each person for me not to get any. Most of the people ahead of me can order 8-12 tickets each. That's about the extent of what I know.
-
Scalping might be fine, but I would still expect to pay over face for a ticket.
-
I didn't even pre order bowl tix since this was my first year as a season tix holder and I don't donate a bunch.
-
Going off of this breakdown, hopefully K-State distributes more like LSU and less like Bama.

Just talked to the ticket office. She said they'd originally planned to be able to accomodate all pre-orders, but she heard they've received 4x as many as last year so that probably won't happen. Seriously considering going to buy a car at Briggs so I can immediately become top 10.
-
Not real high on the Ahearn food chain. However, I will submit my application for as many tickets as possible and see what happens. :crossfingers:

did those dumbasses honestly believe we'd have the same amount of ticket preorders as last season? :frown:

Best advice, have your season ticket holder/donor friends order extra. That's what I'm doing. :crossfingers:

wonder what the chances of snagging a student ticket are if you don't have icat.
-
Trying to weigh the benefits of just donating more money versus buying tickets on the open market.
I guess at least the donation is a tax deduction and would probably give it anyway eventually. Tough call though.

whats the deets on students? I don't have student tix but could probably holler to someone right?!

FWIW on dealing with scalpers in Florida:
# Florida law bans the reselling of tickets for an event on the property where the event is taking place.
Dollar Surcharge
# According to an Office of Legislative Research report, resellers are permitted by law to resell some tickets for $1 more than the face value. This can only be done legally if the tickets are for "passage or accommodations on common carriers, (2) to multi-day or multi-event tickets to a park or entertainment complex, or (3) sold through an Internet website that does not meet statutory criteria."
So just buy a fake badge and walk up to some scumbag scalper and offer him face value.
-
Last year we fulfilled all request out of our 12,500 Cotton Bowl ticket allotment, but it was very close. That game was $125-$200 per ticket and easily driveable from Kansas. Surely we'll be fine with ~17,000 tickets that cost $325-$350 at a place that takes 25 hours to drive to? right? RIGHT?
-
lol at any one who isn't a decent donor thinking they will get tickets if there are only 17,000 available. just about every donor with season tickets will buy the max amount of tickets they are allowed.
-
ordered some through KSU, if that doesn't work, I'll figure something else out

the price point you initially listed was awful (I once purchased Super Bowl tickets for a former employer for less than that) but the issue was more the method than the price point. As anyone experienced buying tickets on the secondary market will tell you, time is your friend. The closer you get to an event, the lower the prices go. It's a time honored tradition that won't change with K-State playing in a big game.
its actually like a bell curve, the baseline was whenever they had initial sales, they will steadily increase until after K-Staters and Oregonians stop feeling like they have to have tickets right now. At that point they will steadily decrease until the game. Also bear in mind that South Florida has the most buyer friendly secondary market in America. There will be 6 locals at that game, having no SEC team will make it even better.
-
What exactly makes it the most buyer-friendly market in the country?
-

i think his point was that no one in that part of the country cares about college football, so the local demand (a good portion of who tickets are given to) is really low.

I'm digging that :D in your signature. I read a serious post from 8mp, and then I see the :D at the end and it makes me smile knowing that purple cat fans everywhere are happy, no matter what. I took my car into get it checked out yesterday and was told it would be a $2000 repair. The smile never left my face. I just said screw it and went out and bought a new car and kept right on smiling.

This except change college football to sports. Plug your ears, Winters. The Heat started doing white outs during their first title run to hide empties. They had significant empties for the finals versus Dallas that season. The Orange Bowls have regularly had tickets on Stubhub for under $5. Kansas State should be an interesting litmus test, but even at the '97 Fiesta Bowl when we supposedly had 50,000 fans I got a $20 ticket with no effort before I knew anything about secondary markets.
-
The Orange Bowl is always the worst attended BCS game and Miami is the shittiest of all BCS host cities. KSU Cat fans should see decent prices on the secondary market.
trust me, I am a finance major :emawkid:

-
Yeah but if Notre Dame is our opponent the ticket prices will be outrageous.
-
Using LSU vs. Alabama in New Orleans is not a good litmus test IMO. That would be like a NC of Michigan vs. Ohio St in Chicago. This won't be anything like that.
-
For ticket prices, no doubt Oregon would be best.
-
There is some talk that scalping is the way to go. Any counterfeiting :chainsaw: concerns?

Yep this is huge. Pile the fam/buds in the wagon and two solid days' drive or a cheap airfare nonstop from KC... Or there is no nonstop flight from PDX to MIA so you end up travelling 12+ hours and spending $600 roundy on airfare, or drive to SEA and fly nonstop for SIX HOURS for like $800+, which means you should have just blown that money on going to Japan.
Will crush the college student demo and the general demand from Oregon fans. They're also nowhere near as :kstategrad: so I wouldn't count on a big showing from them. They learnt their lesson the last time they faced a defense and aren't apt to spend their hard-earned tips on some boondoggle to Miami.

Have any posters here been to a championship before and/or have any actual experience with buying scalped tickets to ginor events like this? Also is there expected to be another dragonfly infestation before the game at Sun Life Stadium?

I was at the USC vs Texas Rose Bowl, but I don't think that's comparable to a potential KSU vs Oregon title game because it featured one local team and two bluebloods. I attended with a relative who got free tickets from work, but I saw quite a bit of scalping around the stadium. About two hours before kickoff I vividly remember some guy at the tailgate next to us buying a pair of tickets from a scalper and handing over a handful of hundred dollar bills. No clue where they were located or the exact amount he paid, but it had to have been at least a thousand bucks.
That game probably isn't the best comparison because the hype/build up for it was through the rough ridin' roof and both those teams have huge fanbases. Should be a bit cheaper than a thousand bucks to scalp a pair of tickets to a game in Miami between teams from Kansas and Oregon, but Sun Life Stadium holds about 15K less than the Rose Bowl so there's a smaller supply.
-

Yes counterfeiting is something to be aware of for big games. I've never purchased tickets to a national championship game, but I can tell you that many tickets for big games now use holograms. Just be aware as to what the ticket looks like before you buy one. Also a good idea to be aware of who you're buying tickets from. Don't buy crap from craigslist until you see the physical ticket.
-
not sure how orgeon v. auburn in phoenix compares to oregon v. ksu in miami, but this http://goodmenproject.com/featured-content/scalping-the-scalpers/ (http://goodmenproject.com/featured-content/scalping-the-scalpers/)
apparently scalping might not be the best option...especially if you can get them for $350 :peek:

Legit query for all q@ fans out there planning on doing some traveling.
Would you rather pay a few hundo to watch us play Oregon and have a greater chance of losing, or pony up an extra $200 or $300 on the scalped market (random SB estimate) to watch us inevitably crush garbage Notre Dame or even garbage-ier Alabama?
Keep in mind in this scenario we are Zimm-less. :ohno:

Another sports fan finding it hilarious that a fan base is already planning a national championship(trip, tickets, who they would rather beat...) with 2 games left(maybe more). Then losing to a team they SHOULD have annihilated and still has to play a much improved Texas team.
Over confident fans jumped the gun there.

Because as we all know, the fans are the ones playing the game.

Tickets get reserved but not paid for until K-State makes the game. Same with hotels. Potentially the same with flights, but at worst a credit to be used later. I'm pretty happy with my investment of nothing into having good crap in the event we'd have gone or go to the game. :dunno:

Butthurt? Not as much as y'alls. Tell me how much it hurts to get your national championship dreams crushed by BAYLOR.
Even if it didnt ruin a title run... BAYLOR! LOL
The worse defense in the nation and they handed y'all a 1 yard td.

you mean the Baylor that KSU is 7-3-0 against all time, as opposed to TCU who is 51-50-7?
-
Yup, Baylor that only had 1 conference win against the worst team.
And statistically dead last on defense.

K-State killed TCU and I goEMAW'd all over Ft. Worth, deal with it.

That was easy to deal with, we were unranked going against the #1/#2 team in the nation, we didn't expect to win.
K state on the other hand against Baylor?

Sure did!
Were you one of the goofs who then tried to take it back because you realized you'd been tricked when I screamed CATS as it happened?
-
Why is TCU so upset abot the beating we gave them?

I've got a pretty good idea.
