Does anyone shy away from contact more than Arthur Brown?  I saw a draft projection thingy that had him ranked the #5 LB this year.  Or maybe it was the #5 SR LB.  Anyway, I have yet to see the guy initiate a hit in the limited amount of time I have watched him at K-State.

Isn't that just precious.   :sdeek:

Seriously. Why even have a football program?
Why not just discontinue it like U of Chicago and focus on actual academics?

It's embarrassing. It's expensive.
And I can't believe anyone comes to KU for the football games. It has to be massively revenue negative even with the enrollment angle.

If we would devote the funds and resources to academics and professors and endowments we waste on this crap, we could be an amazing university.

I love football. And I love college football. But this is crap.

this guy gets it.

KUsports.com gems

Quote
KSU is just this year's Okie State. BCS will screw them over as well.

Quote
KSU could go undefeated and get overlooked by a 1-loss team in the NC. Nobody wants to watch them play.

Quote
It will probably end up being Oregon and Bama. And I hope it is. Like was said earlier, no one wants to watch Statie.

Quote
Agreed. Even if KSU is the most deserving team, they are too irrelevant on the national scale and have no national name recognition whatsoever. We saw all the BCS bowls pass over them last year as well for this very reason.

I don't think it will matter though as Alabama and Oregon should both go undefeated leaving the kitties on the outside looking in.

Quote
Given the choice (and we're not talking about Kansas residents), but I guarantee the nation (and media) would rather see a team like Notre Dame, Florida, or Oregon in the NC than K-State.

Quote
K-State will lose at least two. Their defense is vulnerable. I think Tech and OSU beat them. This might be UT's turn too.

I give COY to Riley at Ore State.

Quote
If I had a vote, I wouldn't vote for Klein for the same reason no one votes for TT guys. Klein is a system QB. He is not the most outstanding player. He has an outstanding coach and excels in BS's system

Quote
Klein definitely is a winner. But his throwing form and motion are high school level at best.

Quote
Klein may very well win the Heisman, but unless they bring back Ron Prince for one game, K-State will lose to Texas.

Quote
Why no discussion about Snyder backing out of the Oregon game that was originally scheduled for this year? Is it because that is just what we have come to expect from Mr. Cupcake? Ooooh. Miami. They are having a real fine season with boatloads of fan support! I think Prince had that game scheduled anyway.....

Quote
And the KSU fans are letting it go to their heads. The season is FAR from over. I wouldn't get too hung up on the BCS standings either. If Oregon wins this week, you can forget about it.

Quote
Everyone knows that Statie would get mauled by 'Bama or Oregon. It's not really worth so much discussion. Even if Statie runs the table, I don't believe they'll be in the title game.

That being said, I think there's a good chance they lose next week v. TTU.

One of those guys on phog said that it would be an absolute choke job if Kansas State doesn't go 12-0. You know what? He's right. We are the frontrunner and we have to be ready to start dealing with the admiration and expectations of college football fans nationwide. Losing now would upset more than just the diehard K-State fans. It would crush our national audience who wants to see Kansas State beat the pants off of Nick Saban. The team just needs to stay focused and not choke. I'm sure they can do it.

"George Clooney has revealed he contemplated suicide as he struggled to cope with the pain of a spinal injury while filming acclaimed 2005 movie Syriana.  The actor insisted on doing his own stunts for the tense spy drama, for which he gained weight and grew a beard, and one fight scene left him in crippling agony.  As he recovered in hospital after the movie wrapped he admits he thought about ending his life - because the pain was too great.  He tells Rolling Stone magazine, 'I was at a point where I thought, I can't exist like this. I can't actually live.'"  http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2011/11/12/george_clooney_contemplated_suicide_ov (http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2011/11/12/george_clooney_contemplated_suicide_ov)

KU's 2007 SOS was much weaker than EMAW 2012* so that criticism was somewhat legitimate. KU fans talking crap this year is just blind rationalization because HURR HURR GRAPES HURR.

*Before you get mad, KU 2007 was a very solid team. Top 10 solid. Beating Virginia Tech showed they were a very good team.

*Before you get mad, KU 2007 was a very solid team. Top 10 solid. Beating Virginia Tech showed they were a very good team.

Yes, KU 2007 was legitimately the #3 team in the Big 12 that year, and the Big 12 was no slouch in 2007.

12 OOC Win vs Miami, FL = 07 vs 8-6 Cent Michigan
12 Win @ ISU = 07 @ 5-7 KSU
12 Win @ OU = 07 @ 7-6 aTm
12 Win @ WVU = 07 @ 7-6 OSU

From what I can tell, the KU schedule in 07 was pretty much identical to ours this year, and that's just looking at a handful of games.

You have to consider that they got to play 4 cupcakes in the nonconference. Miami sucks, but they are better than cupcake status, and we have 9 conference games. Otherwise, yeah, their schedule lacked the heavyweights, but it was still a schedule against 8 Big 12 teams, which is never all that easy.

FWIW KU probably would've beaten Tech and maybe Texas in '07. No way on Oklahoma though.

Yep. They were definitely #3 in the Big 12 that year. You could make a case for #2, but it would be a pretty weak case, given the loss to Mizzou on a neutral field.

Some of you guys are getting trolled pretty hard.

No. They actually believe this crap. Trust me, I was one of them.

Pffffttttt... you guys did the same thing in '07 when KU was 11-0.

We've beaten at least 1 team that is far beyond anything KU had at that point.  I don't know who KU would've beat that could be the equivalent of WV but there may of been one, though not as dominating.

Irrelevant to the discussion, but I'd say Oklahoma State was probably pretty similar to West Va this year.

Wasn't OSU running the spread option with Robinson in 2007? I think K-State is the better comparison. Deadly passing attack with a 1st rounder at QB, no defense. Blows out crappy teams, gets blown out by good teams.

Wasn't West Virginia's current head coach the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State?

I'm honestly not sure what the discussion is then.  I thought it was KU fans tearing down our accomplishments being similar to us tearing down KU's in '07.  I think its much harder to tear down K-State's better accomplishments.  If KU had gone undefeated, they would have deserved to be in the NC game since they would have beat an OU team about on par with this years and a solid MU team (maybe on par with Tech if Tech finishes strong).

We're talking about a general sense of butthurt that kicks in when a rival school is threatening to win a national title.

I used to work with him in Dallas. He's in general a good dude, but a complete Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) in regards to anything KSU/KU. He's also the easiest person to troll, in person or through email. Never tried online though...

Not really. Alabama was just a pretty good team that couldn't run the table. They were extremely fortunate that an OSU plane went down right before the team had to travel to Ames, IA for a trap game.

I will always believe Perkins hired Gill in large part due to his race.  From what I understand Perkins is what used to be called a "limousine liberal" and I think he believed that Turner Gill being black would allow him to recruit black athletes at a higher success rate than a white coach.

This kind of thinking was fairly common 30 years ago, but I don't think it ever really proved to be true (although there is no question most staffs have black assistants who are known as top recruiters) and I don't think it has any validity these days.

I may be completely off base, but if so someone is going to have to give me another reason Perkins would consider Gill the coach to hire.  His resume certainly didn't make it so.

we've been over this.  KU was pretty good in '07.  Beat us at home.  credit where credit's due.  best team in several generations.

Two things to remember.  1) KU beat 1 team with a winning record (A&M); 2) KU didn't play the 3 best teams in the South (OU 10-2, UT 9-3, Tech 8-4).
