I hate being on Fox.  They have way more commercial breaks than ABC/ESPN and they loop the same nine beer/food/insurance/truck commercials for the entire game.  Seriously, their TV timeouts kill the flow of the game.  Oh well, at least the Tech isn't another bullshit 11 AM kickoff.

I don't think their TV timeouts or longer. And ABC/ESPN also regurgitates their commercials. And Fox broadcasts kick some rough ridin' ass and they are national.

Yeah, and we are playing Texas Tech. I would have done cartwheels at the beginning of this season if somebody told me that game would be a nationally broadcast game on FX. A 2:30 game on Fox is just awesome.

I've never seen a game on ABC/ESPN do this: field goal or TD-commercials-kickoff-commercials.  Fox does that after most scores.  They also sometimes cut to commercials following a turnover, something else you don't see other networks do.  Also Joey Harrington always comes off as awkward and Erin Andrews' only role in football should be on a sideline, not in the studio.

This is the first time I'm aware of that Fox has deviated from the leaked schedule sent out in August.  There was originally supposed to be a 12:30 game between Texas and Kansas at that time.

http://media.cmgdigital.com/shared/news/documents/2012/07/23/Copy_of_COLLEGE_FOOTBALL_on_FOX_2012_KRXI_Schedule.pdf (http://media.cmgdigital.com/shared/news/documents/2012/07/23/Copy_of_COLLEGE_FOOTBALL_on_FOX_2012_KRXI_Schedule.pdf)

We're supposed to be on Fox when we play OSU on 11/3 according to this schedule.  But there are a lot of good games that week in the Big 12, so we may get bumped to ABC or FX.

I think a lot of that has to do with how many commercials have already been shown. I noticed the commercials before and after a kickoff during our game at ISU, but that was following an 8 minute K-State drive. ABC/ESPN probably would have done the same thing if the first quarter were nearly over and they had only had one commercial break.

There are plenty of reasons to not like playing on Fox.  For one, it guarantees ESPN will have minimal coverage/hype of that particular game.  Now, I don't particularly care about what ESPN has to say, but they undeniably influence the voters.  Less KSU coverage on ESPN = less Cats exposure and hype passed along to the polls.

We are ranked ahead of undefeated Notre Dame and Ohio State teams. I don't think ESPN hype is having any affect on the polls.

Fox's pregame show and Erin Andrews in studio are both terrible.  I don't really give a crap and enjoy the national broadcast though.  Am really rough ridin' sick of Eric Crouch on FX though.

Agree here.  If there are more commercials, it probably has more to do with the 8 minute Klein drives than the network.

This isn't true.  We are still #3/4 in the polls and ahead of ND in both despite ND getting 10x more exposure on ESPN.  Also, Florida/SEC get 20x more play on ESPN than the Cats, but according to the BCS we are ahead of Florida when you combine the two polls.

Fox just has a different style.  For pro sports, Fox is defiantly on the bottom of the list.  That Joe Buck/Tim McCarver combo they throw out for the world series is just dreadful.  Also, if it's a Sunday afternoon and I want to take a nap, I just flip on Joe Buck/Troy Aikman and I'm snoozing in 2 minutes.  Finally, their CFB studio with Erin Andrews and Joey Harrington is aweful television.

I have no problem when the game actually starts and no problem with the Cats being on FOX, I just flip it over right before the game and flip away right when it ends.

I realize ESPN isn't the only sports network out there.  However, they are by far the largest and most influential sports network.  If the last three undefeated teams left are Alabama, Oregon and KSU, who do you think ESPN will pimp for the title game?  Alabama is a shoe in and ESPN will do their best to hype up Oregon for that game because they broadcast a lot more Oregon games than Cat games.  ESPN gargling on SEC dick last season helped to get Alabama in the title game over Oklahoma State, I have no doubt that they would hype up non-Big 12 teams again.

That's a nice theory you have, but the RRR on ABC started at the same time as our game and lasted 30min - 1 hour longer. I'm betting more commercials were aired during that game than the FX broadcast.

Or it takes longer to score 84 points than 48 points.  Oklahoma had more points than KSU and ISU combined.

I will say this and take it fwiw, but FX is the worst. Saturday I was able to put a load of laundry in, put up the dishes, and do the dishes before they came back from a commercial break. It was all  I could do to settle the  :ohno: but I didn't know I could get all that done in between breaks. I might try to sex up a filly next time with that kind of break.

It only takes longer because of the commercial breaks.

Maybe it goes faster when you run every down and never stop the clock.  :dunno:

If you had a filly to sex, you would be on your couch browsing BBS and Twitter, checking other scores, or getting in a pee break while you wait on her to finish doing the dishes so she can bring you another beer.  Doesn't sound like an FX problem to me.

It does, and the network has to air more commercials to compensate. People are blaming Fox when LHC Bill Snyder is the culprit.

Yeah the FX crew of Crouch/That Other Guy is pretty bad. Really bad. Would you rather have Sean McDonough/Chris Spielman though? Probably, but it's at least debatable. Sean McDonough is very hard to look at directly and reminds me of Syracuse.

6 point Big XII road victories, being snubbed for 3rd place in the country, not getting enough mention on the BCS Title Game predictions, and 2:30 national broadcasts on FOX.  The cupboard is thin.

The number of media time outs are regulated by the NCAA in every single sport.  If you notice all time outs the last 5 minutes of a game are 30 second time outs, that's by rule not by coaches or network choice.

I think some people have forgotten exactly how to have a chip on their shoulders. A nationally televised game is not something to have a chip on your shoulder about. Some loser sportswriter not putting us in the M(unless the KSU Purple Cats win it)NC conversation is something to have a chip on your shoulder about.

I can't believe we've reached the point where we complain about national tv broadcasts.

I can't tell if this means we have no idea how to act when we're this high up in the stratosphere, or if we totally do know how to act, and we're totally doing it by complaining about national tv broadcasts.

I'm going to reveal a secret: I am not originally from Kansas and I support two teams.  I won't say who the other team is, but it is one of college football's perennial bluebood elites (no conflicts of interest because it's not a team that the Cats regularly play and if these two teams did happen to meet I would be EMAW all the way).  Supporting that team is how I learned to be a football fan - I've only been following Kansas State since I moved to Kansas in 2008 (enrolled last fall).

Anyways, I'm saying this because bitching and complaining about trivial stuff like what station carries your game is definitely something you do when your team is this high in the stratosphere.  Other nitpicky crap to complain about when you can't complain about your team: in-stadium pregame and halftime shows, the student section, how your coaches dress on the sidelines, disrespect from some random BCS computer even when all the others have you highly ranked, the announcing crew assigned to your game and the vendors blocking your view for two seconds during a commercial break as they walk up and down the aisle.

The more trivial the subject a fan is complaining about, the better his team is doing.  Trust me.  It's hardwired into fan DNA.  If we can't take out our angst and frustration and worrying on the team's performance, it is funneled into less meaningful subjects.

I've never seen a game on ABC/ESPN do this: field goal or TD-commercials-kickoff-commercials.  Fox does that after most scores.  They also sometimes cut to commercials following a turnover, something else you don't see other networks do.  Also Joey Harrington always comes off as awkward and Erin Andrews' only role in football should be on a sideline, not in the studio.

...or on a peephole camera.  Give her due props for that.
