Title: Official who are we cheering for this weekend thread - WEEK 7
Post by: SabiNation on October 04, 2012, 01:56:46 PM
I like it when we're all on the same page...better juju, if you will.

10/6
Guys, we're rooting for (17) Oklahoma to beat Texas Tech, right?

(8) West Virginia or (11) Texas?

Also what if Miami could beat (#9) Notre Dame this weekend!?!!?  Would be so awesome.

(5) Georgia at (6) South Carolina.... (4) LSU at (10) Florida...  Do we care about these?

What do you guys think!?!!    :ksu:  Any other relevant games for KSU fans to keep an eye on??   Go Wildcats!

Can you imagine undefeated TX and KSU for CTR??  ESPN would probably set up shop in MHK all week.  ESPN U would have a still camera on BSFS 24/7.

Also, no fan/coach/player of TX's would sleep for the entire week.  We would ruin them based on us being WildWildCats and their being worn out from diarrhea and no sleep for a solid week.

If those three happen, then we will be 5-0 having beat a top 15 team on the road and having destroyed a #22 (or so) team at home by nearly 40. Then we are on cruise control with the national media all over our nuts all the way through that showdown in December. This is awesome.

The SEC is going to get 2 BCS teams this year no matter what. We are probably going to have to win the Big 12 to get to the BCS this year, just like last year. Luckily for us, it looks like we are going to do just that.

We need ND to win less than 9 games so they don't steal a Big 12 BCS spot.

What is wrong with it? Is it purely based on margin of win of us over miami vs OU? Is it home vs away?  I mean ND being 8ish when they come into Norman and lose would be pretty huge vs them being 20-25 I would think.

I'm thinking NC. If there are three undefeated teams at the end of the year and the Mighty Morphin' Snydercats are one, then they don't get in. Although, if there are two and Alabama is the other one it would be fun to beat the "best team ever" again.

But you guys are being so mean to the kid with down syndrome that it makes me just sick to my stomach you guys. I mean have you ever seen ND's helmets? How could a six year old and/or person with down syndrome not immediately fall in love with that team. And don't even get me started on how inspiring Rudy is.

And then when the six year old with down syndrome comes of age around 2005 and watches Brady Quinn play against Ohio State and he sees Brady Quinn's sister and how amazingly hot she is with her half ND/half OSU jersey on, I mean, what is the aforementioned six year old with down syndrome supposed to think? Heady stuff.

as opposed to Miami beating ND not being a given....I mean....
thought about pointing that out to him but....you know

yeah, I know

That all looped back to the premise that I wanted ND to be super strong when they come in and lose to OU.  Apparently that was incorrect thinking and MadCat fixed me up.

OU
TX
Miami
Florida (LSU only has one tough game after this one and it's Alabama. Definitely want LSU to win that one so they both end up with one loss.)
Georgia/South Carolina-Doesn't matter at this time
NCST
Washington

That's who I'm cheering for, besides the Cats, this weekend.

No I think Alabama is safer just staying #1 all year. I do NOT want to have to compete with a 1 loss alabama team for bcs spots

I'm thinking NC. If there are three undefeated teams at the end of the year and the Mighty Morphin' Snydercats are one, then they don't get in. Although, if there are two and Alabama is the other one it would be fun to beat the "best team ever" again.
Serious question, are you nuts?  :shakesfist:

And another thing Unruly,we want Miami to whip Florida State and win the ACC with a record of 12-1.Right now the U is one of my favorite second favorite teams.

That was a given.  I want any and every team in the world, regardless of us playing them, to beat FSU. Same goes for Oregon, SC, and Georgia. <only with downs syndrome

I have confidence in Miami/UF beating Florida St. (Prefer Miami)...but we also need the team representing the East in the SEC championship to already have a loss before they're beaten by Alabama

Guys it's going to really be fun to be a Miami fan this weekend.  :drink:  :excited:

Instead of worrying about 1 loss SEC teams stealing our spots, we need to worry about a rough ridin' 2 loss Notre Dame. They need 3 losses ASAP (OU and USC will probably be 2)

I sorta liked ND when I was younger because I said to myself, "Self, you are part Irish and they are the Fighting Irish.  You should pretend to be all Irish and fighty like them."

I bet it was rough when you got older and realized that their mascot was nothing more than a perpetuation of the stereotype of poor Irish men dressing like Leprechauns, getting drunk and starting fights all the time.

Week 7

Kansas State at Iowa State   11:00 a.m.   FX (HD)
Oklahoma vs. Texas (Dallas)   11:00 a.m.   ABC (HD)
Oklahoma State at Kansas   2:30 p.m.   FSN Affiliates (HD) / FCSC (cable)
West Virginia at Texas Tech   2:30 p.m.   (ABC (HD) / ESPN (HD)) *7? / ESPN-GP
TCU at Baylor   6:00 p.m.   FSN Affiliates (HD) / FCSC (cable)

We are rooting for:

KSU:  Better for business on goEMAW.com

OU: You cheer first for the teams you have beaten, second for the one's you will play, before everything else

OSU: The ONE exception to the rule above, is to cheer against the teams you recruit against.  KU and KSU will be after the same Juco defenders this year. OSU owns us in recruiting with or without an extra win.  Better to just bury KU.

WVU: I believe that we will have to beat WVU to win the conference, even if they lose to Tech.  Better to have them ranked as high as possible.

BU/TCU - TOSS UP: Pick your poison.  We recruit against both. Both have a conference loss already.  Personally, I'll root for Baylor to get ranked and TCU to die on the vine.

Would LOVE to have WVU in the top 5 when we beat them (two top 10 road wins in the first half of our season!) but I will not be upset if they lose. As Daris said, they could end up challenging us for the Big 12 title, and if they DO beat us (LOL) they will have to have 2 losses.

I was thinking about this scenario: We lose to WVU, WVU loses to OU. We all have one loss, but beat every other team. Where does the tiebreaker go? BCS ranking? And I'm not predicting this to happen, but it's a possibility, and I was just curious.

I don't want WVU to be coming off a loss.  I also want gameday.  This is the one week I root for them.  I want TCU to win because I think they are awful, but if Iowa St puts up 37 on them and something named Lenz is capable of getting behind them, Baylor will rape them.

I don't care about Gameday, relative to how much I care about the teams we play being ranked as high as possible.  That's what is most important to me.  WVU isn't losing to Tech, so we don't need to worry about it anyway.

I don't care about Gameday, relative to how much I care about the teams we play being ranked as high as possible.  That's what is most important to me.  WVU isn't losing to Tech, so we don't need to worry about it anyway.

who gives a crap though? i mean, what was ou ranked when we beat them? because i don't even remember. 6th? what if they were 3rd? what if they were 10th? what if they were 13th? who knows/who cares? not me.

Hey Daris, should we be cheering for ISU this weekend? Even if they beat us, there's no way they go through the Big 12 with only 1 loss. We have a better chance of beating WVU because we'll be angry coming off a loss, and then we'll win the Big 12 for sure! Oh wait, I care about getting to the NC because I'm a real fan. And that means beating top 10 teams so our resume looks better than Oregon's should they go undefeated. But you keep your short sightedness and only think about the Big 12 trophy, Squawk Daris.

Well, do you know where we are ranked now?  Cause that's what you get when beat highly ranked teams.  I mean, if you have no idea where we are ranked, and do not care, then I see your point.

well obviously we want kstate to win all of their games and thus win the big12 by default and then play in the title game. that's obviously the goal.

but if kstate doesn't win all of their games then there is a decent chance that games like next weekends wvu-tech could go a long way in deciding whether or not we can at least win the big12 (which would still be amazing and feel great).

at the end of the year, i want to win the big12 and i won't give a flying eff if we are ranked 5th or 7th when we do it. also, if we keep winning it won't matter if we beat a one loss 12th ranked wvu or an unbeaten third ranked wvu. it won't matter one bit.

I want to win the Natty #1, Big 12 is a backup goal.  Best chance to win the Natty involves WVU winning this weekend.

PS: It won't matter one rough ridin' bit who we root for regardless of anything.

We have a shot to make a bigger jump in the polls by beating a top 5 team than beating a top 15 (or so) team. If Oregon goes undefeated we will have to jump them at some point and this is probably our best chance.

PS: It won't matter one rough ridin' bit who we root for regardless of anything.

It's funny how overlooked this is. Although it does make games more fun when you're cheering whole heartedly for someone.

There is a fair chance Oregon goes undefeated.  Best case scenario for us, we go undefeated.  If this happens, Oregon will yell and scream that we wouldn't play them this year so they should get in.  We will need a win that is clearly better than anything they have to yell and scream about.  Oklahoma may be that win, but maybe not.  WVU is the hot talk of the country and could be that win.  The better our conference looks, the better that champion of it looks.  A conference is traditionally judged by the teams at the top (nobody talks SEC sucks invoking Kentucky and Vandy).  WVU will be a top Big 12 team and looks better not losing to Tech.

Oregon is #2, only two teams get in.  Granted, the computers will like us more but the people will like Oregon.  Alabama is #1.  They don't seem likely to lose.  Then again, they probably need to play someone better than Michigan to seem awesome.  Computers will like Alabama plenty.

There's usually 2 before the bowl games. 3 would not be that far off the average. I want to beat the team that everyone thinks is the best because if we beat WVU in Morgantown, we shouldn't have to worry about any other games besides our own to win the Big 12. And everyone will know we are for real. There will be no way to down play the WVU win like they did Miami, OU, and every game last year. I want everyone to acknowledge us as a NC contender, because our team this year can handle it. I believe they won't get cocky and go through the motions against Tech, OSU, Baylor, and will prove that they are as good as the hype. Get excited everyone. This will be a year to remember. And we'll be able to remember it because we'll see Collin Klein and Arthur Brown holding up the Big 12 trophy and we'll all put a pic of it in our avatar or sig line and everyone will be happy and Aggieville will be packed, pak'd, and very, very rowdy on December 1st.

I'm not saying there will be a bunch of undefeated teams.  I am saying being WV's only loss would improve our bid for a National championship game in any situation, which is what I want.  Being WV/OU's only loss and then one of 2 losses for the other one would look better than beating teams that all end up 6-3 in conference or whatever.  Anyone arguing otherwise is Rick Daris or being stupid and maybe both.

bottom line is this...if kstate goes undefeated, they will be playing for a national championship regardless of how many losses wvu has. to suggest otherwise, you'd have to  ignore every ounce of evidence out there.

if kstate does lose a game or two, then they still have a shot at winning the big12 if all of the other teams have multiple losses as well.

Another good question is this. If Alabama/LSU/Florida/SC, is the winner of the SEC and only has one loss, do they jump and go 2 in the poll behind Oregon? I'm worried that they might. The SEC bias is so strong that I wouldn't put it past some  voters.

Call me crazy, but I think Tech will beat West Virginia. West Virginia has never played a real schedule. They are coming off one of the biggest wins in school history, and have the #6 team in the nation coming to town in 2 weeks. Texas Tech is a good team who had the misfortune of playing OU after a loss. WVU cannot play defense, and I don't think they will be ready to play next week. They are only a 4 point favorite.

Only a four point favorite. Interesting.

Tech is garbage, a -4 on wvu is free money

Yeah, those Vegas oddsmakers know absolutely nothing about college football. What a joke.

I'm taking that. Too good to pass up.

You guys are Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!). No way I'd touch that game. Tech can definitely knock them off, at home, after WVU has had to travel that much over the past week, and had a borderline top 10 team the week before and a top 5 team the following week.

I think West Virginia is going to pound Tech hard.

I'm only gonna put 50 on it, and only if it drops below -4. Plus I think TTU is going to be a little dejected and lifeless.

Ah...K-State is now at -6.5 according to Sporstbook. I might take that. They've been very good to me this year. Took the money line against OU for +450 and the spread for the Miami and KU games. OT: USC has screwed me twice. Eff those guys.

Who are we supposed to root for in the RRR? It's UT, right?

According to the logic that they ripped my ass for you would be cheering for OU in this game.

We play both of them you dumbass. It is hilarious that you cannot understand this stuff. Now, we may want to cheer for OU because we have the tie breaker against them in pocket, but that's another discussion.

I would cheer for UT; we could use the rankings boost at the end of the season.

This, OU will destroy ND and get their own rating boost here in a couple of weeks.

Is Pete a dumbass too?

Yeah, this is what I was thinking. UT already has a loss and we want them highly ranked for the last game of the year.

Not even worth making a new thread for.  Or maybe even typing on this one  :dunno:

Week 9:
Texas - move up the rankings
Kentucky
Georgia
OU
Miss St
Colorado

I think if we lose we want OU to lose so we stay above them in the BCS if a 3 way tiebreaker occurs, right?

yeah, if we lose at any point all concerns turn exclusively to the Dr Pepper. But, if OU loses there is no longer a 3 way tie (unless TTech and us both lose again)

well, losing to ND wouldn't affect conference standings, other than it would put Tech and the Cats in a comfortable lead over OU in the 3 way tiebreaker (which I think hinges on BCS rankings at some point)

I thought you meant the rest of the season, not this weekend. yeah, as much as that would suck we would have to root for it.
