Title: BCS
Post by: steve dave on September 25, 2012, 07:28:31 AM
It's not to early to do this given we have a pretty pud remaining slate of games. In Simulated Rankings (http://www.bcsguru.com/bcs_standings.htm) we are 8th right now. Above us are Alabama, Oregon, FSU, LSU, Stanford, South Carolina, Georgia. The SEC teams should shake themselves out leaving Alabama at the top (prolly). The Pac 12 is actually decent this year so I don't see us passing Oregon just on our strength of remaining schedule if they run the table. We have to hope they lose. I could see us passing FSU given their garbage conference/schedule. ND is right behind us. Hopefully we can hold on if they decide to run the table.

knew there was a third really tough one, forgot who. I'd be surprised if they finish with only 2 losses.

I think it's quite possible all of the SEC teams take each other out.

Is this why we dropped them from our schedule? We didn't want to have to play them twice in the same year? Scheme.

If the top SEC team has two losses, what are the chances they get in ahead of a one-loss FSU, Big XII champ, or PAC-12 champ?  100%?

they would not go ahead of an undefeated KSU team

Always scheming. Snyder knew way in advance this is what was going to happen. Well played.

I would say almost zero unless that one-loss Big XII champ is KSU, in which case it would be around 50%. I think everyone outside of the SEC is ready to see someone else win and at some point will vote in whatever manner necessary to keep them from winning another MNC.

It's important to remember that the AP poll is no longer a part of the BCS.

We say this every year at this time, but I could see a split championship.  I wouldn't put it past the writers to do this out of spite.

The AP didn't vote Auburn #1 when they ran the table. We were media darlings in basketball, but I just haven't seen it in football. If we were playing the NC game today, how would you see the scores? I see it like this:

KSU 21
Alabama 6

KSU 51
Oregon 30

KSU 48
FSU 10

Let's just hope we get a shot because none of these pud programs stand a chance.

We just have to cheer against FSU and Oregon every week, hope that KSU wins out, and that ND loses once, and we'll finish #2.   :ksu:

ND sucks and has absolutely no shot at running the table. FSU isn't very good, either, but we are going to need some luck if they are going to lose. It's more likely Alabama loses, imo.

If this were to happen by some fluke(Obviously it wont because the media loves us because we are a big time program) I would buy every single shirt and claim this title till the day I die.

The Chisholm trail game will be a defacto Conference Title game. If an undefeated #3 wildcats beat 1 loss #7 Texas we would have to jump an undefeated #2 FSU who beat #24 Vtech(WHO LOST TO PITT)

Yeah, it definitely helps. It also helps that we play OU, Texas, and OSU in the regular season, so the computers will give us a pretty solid shot at #2 even if there are 2 other undefeated schools.

I'm most scared of a situation in which Oregon, Alabama (or what ever team wins the SEC), and us finish undefeated. NO WAY we go in over Oregon and then meltdowns ensue.

Oregon isn't going undefeated.  Their November is @USC, @Cal, Stanford, and @Oregon State, and if they get through that, they'll have the CCG against USC again (most likely).  There's no way you beat USC twice.  I would not be surprised if USC bounces back and gets to 12-1 and makes an outside run into this thing.

The SEC has one elite team in Alabama and four really good teams in Georgia, So. Carolina, Florida, and LSU.  With Arkansas tanking, and Auburn being awful, the winner of Bama/LSU is going undefeated in the regular season.  The three teams in the SEC east are going to devour each other, but they can easily spoil Bama's year.  Alabama is very good, but they haven't been challenged yet.  I don't care what anyone says; Michigan is dog****.

Our best hope is that Alabama or LSU goes 12-0 or 11-1, and they lose to a 10-2 SEC East team.

Notre Dame isn't going undefeated.  There is absolutely no way they're winning at both Oklahoma and USC.  None.  In fact, they'll probably lose both of those games and to Stanford at home.

Florida State's last five games are @Miami, Duke, @VT, @Maryland, and Florida at home.  They lose at least one of those games.  Guaranteed.

If we win out, we're in.  Especially if we beat Texas on 12/1.  That game will equal the quality of any CCG out there outside of USC/Oregon and whatever the SEC throws out there.

if all three of us, alabama, oregon, go undefeated but ksu cats win all of our games by 40+ points, then we should get the nod into the national championship game over one of the teams that didn't win by 40+.  it's simple math.

Guys, you are leaving out Miss St.  They look better than all SEC teams but Alabama right now.  Also, Florida State's resume may not be that great even if they run the table, but they look the part of a ncg team when they play offense.
