Less than 100 tickets left for North Texas, KU, OSU, and UT games
Less than 1000 tickets left for Texas Tech
Less than 2000 but more than 1000 tickets left for Miami.
*this does not include tickets that will be given back by the shitty schools that don't travel well*

Thanks Scott

too bad we can't just get currie to run football and bosco to run basketball

Great post.

it's a good thing we ensure OOC sellouts by scheduling "name" programs.

theres over 1000 tickets for the UT game on Ticket City and Stubhub and like 700 for KU and over 2000 for OSU

What does that mean? Are ticket brokers/individuals speculating those could be premium games?

those are definitely the three marquee home games of the confy schedule
miami i think there was less than 200
my whole family bought a 24 person group package to OSU on Ticket City
-
The general public is now unable to buy tickets to the UNT game except for restricted view seats behind the ADA seats in the south endzone.

For the UT game there are several in the $35-$45 dollar range. I'm guessing alot of people did what I did, saw that you could buy 4 tickets for $100 and said eff-it, that's a hell of a deal, I'll buy 4 and put them on stubhub to see if I can make a quick buck. I haven't put mine on stubhub, but as the game gets closer and if I can't find anyone to buy them for a slight markup, I'll throw'm on there and at least make my money back.
-
So basically what we've going here is . . . until the visiting teams return their tickets. There are about 1500 or so seats total available from the athletic department for the entire season?

yes, also whey will visit the possibility of selling between 250-700 GA tickets restricted to section 28 to the public based on how long it takes the remaining 300 student GA combo passes to sell out, how many student GA football only passes are left to be sold (up by 200 compared to last year), and student attendance for the Mizzou State game and the 2nd half attendance by students in the non cons.
My guess is they will sell around 200 for the KU and Miami game, as many as people will buy for North Texas and around 500 for the rest of the conference games.

I bought 10 (non upper deck or NEZ) tickets to the Texas game for $32.50 each from a broker last night...was wondering how they were so cheap.

Now is the time to take that perpetually empty section away from the students.

Can you imagine how much money we are losing on tickets, Dax? I mean, if you don’t price them all the same, then you devalue your product AND it’s better to just have empty seats. At least that’s what the Deputy Commissioner of the Big 12 thought.
-
Now is the time to take that perpetually empty section away from the students.
Yep. If they can't take care of nice things, they don't deserve to have them.
-
Any student not buying tickets should be expelled.

Catzacker, didn't we have a long thread on this subject a while back? And doesn't our cheap fan base like cheap tickets.
-
Any student not buying tickets should be expelled.
Or worse, the student who buys season tickets but is too drunk or cares too little to make it into the stadium.
We use to have a scary bad ass mother rough ridin' student section.........

It's just not fair to guys like Earl from Sabetha who've been KSU season ticket holders since the great dust bowl.
-
Yeah the student section when I was there was intense. These days the students are just pathetic, spineless individuals.

I'm going to do what I do every year. Wait to see how I'm feeling on Thursday on whether I wanna head to Manhattan or not. If I do (Which ends up happening 90% of the time) I'll ask my firends if they have an extra one, the board, or just buy one off some ticket site. I hate buying too far in advance.

Kansas Athletics has returned 1,000 tickets from their visitor's allotment.

There has got to be a way for this board and others to call out the students and ask... no tell them to stop being vagina splatter.
If you can't get behind this Wildcat Football Team like a Phillipino whore in Hong Kong then you're no friend of the purple!

regardless of where the students sit, I think it's important that they keep inserting cussing into chants. This practice certainly lets other ksu fans and those visiting know that, "hey, we're students, we're crazy. and we're also original".

Yes, the old, "Better to have empty seats than sell cheaper tickets" argument.

FTR, I am still on the bigger seats/bigger crowd bandwagon. You want a max capacity crowd? Just up every seat size by 50%, thereby taking advantage of our fat fans, "filling the bill" with only 35k instead of 50k, and making up the difference in concessions.
-
you guys have a lot to learn about what deserves its own thread and what doesn't

thats funny coming from majormodmergealot
-
Yeah "Bigger" crowds.
On another note I just found the reason(s) why ku returned so many tickets:
Reason 1: Manhattan is a craphole town and no self respecting ku fan would want to go there.
Reason 2: The town smells
Reason 3: It's really hard to get in and out of town.
Reason 4: K-State fans are mean and drunk.
Reason 5: Parking is in pastures.
Reason 6: Poor ku fans who do attend search for cheaper tickets.
-
I rough ridin' love reading made-up phog stories about the indignities forced upon classy KU fans who dare visit manhattan.
-

I love being the impetus for those stories.

You know guys, we just need to be clear here. ku did NOT "return" the tickets, they just opted to not take the full allotment.
But again, who can blame them. Forced to come watch a game in our "terrible" stadium with a bunch of "$hitkicker" K-State fans.

Yes, the old, "Better to have empty seats than sell cheaper tickets" argument.
That same argument breaks out about every six months on the Ok State boards as well.
-
"of course I'm not going to the game, we aren't any good"
translation: a good portion our fan base consists of bandwagon riding, self-entitled 2007'ers who have nothing invested in The University of Kansas and only benefit from its success

I've ranted about this multiple times, but this coupled with Travis Ford has effectively killed one of the top 3-4 college basketball environments in the country.
-
waiting on conformation but from what I hear Oklahoma State is now a sell out
still the possibilities of them returning some of their allotment and possibilities of selling a few hundred section 28 GA seats.
under 50 singles for UT and KU games
only assorted singles <450 for the Tech game
Only Miami have seats together still and those are very few and far between.
there is a chance that we will sell out for the season (sans returned tickets and sec 28 resale) with in the week. And if not with in the week, before the Miami game.
-
Just a heads up for you cat fans. Fanning will be buying single tickets this season. My friends are now married, wipped, or females that want to tailgagte through the game. Will be looking to buy single tickets to sit next to goEMAW'rs. Will pay the day of the game in cash. Let me know how you feel.

It's not a sell out yet. You can still buy premium tickets in 2 & 8. The $55 tickets are sold out, but there are still $65 tickets still available.

Did you ever go to a game there when Eddie Sutton was taking them to Final Fours? The place was deafening with the steepest seating I've ever seen. Put KSU students in there for the 2008 KU game and it's 5-10 decimals louder.
-
North Texas sold out.
That's 2 of 7 thus far.

KU game is being announced as a sell out later today
8200 student GA combo passes/ICAT tickets have been sold with 800 GA football only
400 section 28 tickets have been sold for North Texas, and will probably do the same for Tech (could see it for other games but don't count on it)
140 singles left for the Texas game (they sent 200 back last week on Friday expect sell out announcement during the game on Saturday), 376 left for the Tech game.
(still sell backs expected from Texas Tech, possibly more from KU, and maybe a few hundred more from UT, OSU almost sold out of their allotment)
Miami just dumped 500+ yesterday so there are now 1400 left to sell for the Miami game (prepare for emails, phone calls, radio ads, etc..)

The metal bleachers above 10/11 & 18/19 are only like 35% sold for the Miami game. Does anyone believe that we will actually be able to sell these out at $75 per?

Don't know if they're already doing this for the Miami game, but if they do that thing where you can donate tickets to Ft. Riley soldiers for really cheap we might still be able to sell that game out
-

No. Those seats need to be lowered to about $25 if we are going to actually sell that game out.
-
It was maybe a small reach at $75 a pop for Miami given several other premium type games on the schedule, but they're close.
In other news another game is sold out.
There's that sell, selling, sold stuff again.

Besides the Miami game :ksu:

It's official - the Dillons Bowl is a sellout :emawkid: :ksu:

internal discussions about selling Hill Seats for 20 bucks a game with walk up sales at the ticket office only...the money grabbers in the AD like the idea, the ones who enjoy putting video of kids playing football on the hill on the jumbo trons do not like the idea.

that was the spot to meet up during middle school and high school to watch the game with your friends. go cats!

I would really like to see the fans pack it in this year. The hill and all. I would like to see some new records set this year for fans attending games. I have a feeling that the team will need all the support they can get with this tough of a schedule.
I do agree that the student section seems a bit tame in comparison to what it used to be...kind of sad. When the old fogies fill in the numbered seats before the student section is even close to being full, that is sad.

I don't think we can beat our record this year (53811) because of reduced NEZ seating after renovations and also the fact that we don't have the janky-ass bleachers on the west side this year

Anyone need a semi-truck load of free KU tickets for the weekend? This just landed in my inbox:
The first game of the season is this Saturday, Sept. 1st. Tickets are available now and we are not placing a limit on the number each employee may pick up!

<40 for UT, We are talking to Texas and to Tech trying to see if we can get an advanced package of tickets returned (but would only put them for sale after the Miami game) It doesn't look like either will comply though and will just try to sell the tickets they still have and if they don't send them back at the usual 9 day notice before the game.
Ticket office and AD are trying to capitalize on all the excitement for this season trying to get every game besides Miami to be sold out to boost excitement and push the demand up for the Miami game and then kick in the 6 day marketing blitz with advertisements talking about how this would be the last chance to buy tickets to see the cats play this year etc etc

JFC, it's not that easy to get tickets to our local minor league hockey team that plays in a 17,000 seat arena.
I'm not sure they would take free tix if it came with a six pack and a bj.
Really? You wouldn't have to go to the game dumb dumb.
fwiw, I'm posting a picture in it's own thread. DON'T MERGE YOU NAZI MODS :chainsaw:

<40 for UT, We are talking to Texas and to Tech trying to see if we can get an advanced package of tickets returned (but would only put them for sale after the Miami game) It doesn't look like either will comply though and will just try to sell the tickets they still have and if they don't send them back at the usual 9 day notice before the game.
Ticket office and AD are trying to capitalize on all the excitement for this season trying to get every game besides Miami to be sold out to boost excitement and push the demand up for the Miami game and then kick in the 6 day marketing blitz with advertisements talking about how this would be the last chance to buy tickets to see the cats play this year etc etc
solid plan.
how many left for Miami?
The squawks don't believe the actually returned tickets, think it's a lie.

I have not gotten an updated figure in a few games, i would venture to guess it is <1005
This is the exact story from inside the Athletic Department, confirmed by my source who is high up in the Ticket Office, corroborated by a friend who works for the Alumni Association, and not denied who works for the KU Athletic Marketing division.
"KU took out their maximum allotted tickets for the game which is 3,875. After their pre-sale to season ticket holders and Williams Fund donors they had only sold 783 tickets. After the full band accounted for their tickets, and the initial month of sales on the KU website they had just sold over 1100 tickets. At that point Zenger and Peter Muther contacted K-State saying they would send back some tickets early as a sign of good faith (in hopes K-State would one day help KU out in someway). Both Zenger and Muther got mad when the K-State Alumni Association, Ahearn Fund, and K-State Athletics advertised it as KU already sending tickets back."

lol, what a boss move by KState

BITB move by whoever did that

Nice . . . so K-State isn't supposed to tell people they'll be buying tickets in the visitors section?

Most of my sources come from the fan marketing/ticketing side of the Athletic Department. Along with 2 people employed by KU's Athletic marketing office.

KU wanted it to be presented as if they didn't ask for the Max allotment, and just have tickets appear on the website one day. They did not make that part of the deal when they sent the tickets back and then got butt-hurt when people in the Ahearn Fund War Room decided they were going to clown face KU and make sure everyone knew they already returned tickets.

Did the ku folks suggest using the old "hey, we found some tickets in a storage locker" line, without drawing the attention of the IRS or FBI?

now selling SRO tickets, was decided this morning they will keep the hill open but sell "obstructed South Endzone" for most games.

Probably gonna be a lot of tickets available on the streets by the Texas game.

1. Thanks
2. Any hope?

I got an automated call today. First part was the audio highlight of the goal-line stance last year. They are trying hard. Bring the price down on those shitty seats by $20 and I bet they would sell out before Friday.
-
yeah I think there is hope. emails, phone calls, tweets all will happen. There isn't as much optimism as there was last week due to a lot of tickets on the secondary markets. We would probably need to get rid of all the seats together by Thursday to have a real shot at a true sell out.

the people I talk to say they aren't going to drop tickets most likely because then it would create an atmosphere of people not buying tickets early, trying to wait to the last second to buy tickets to see if they will drop the prices and then if they don't they don't buy. Also would create a riot of anyone who bought tickets at 85 or 75 if they dropped prices by 20

The AD wasn't too concerned about riots from the fans who don't get Kansas Now 22 and won't be able to watch nonconference basketball this year. Why should they be concerned about a few hayseed fans who get pissed off because people who got worse seats than they did are paying less for tickets? I really don't think a whole lot of people are going to not buy good seats when they could wait for the price drop on the shittiest seats in the house just because it happened that one time we played Miami.
-
Wednesday numbers were not great folks, minimal singles were bought and less than 150 together were bought.
*my own opinion not that of my sources in the ticketing offices*
I don't think we will sell out. I think we will have 49k there(which is not bad at all seeing we have had a few seats taken away with construction this year), and will be sub 500 tickets left but I am not seeing a sell out.
The people inside the ticket office are optimistic and are hoping for a big walk up crowd and a late push today and tomorrow.

not a huge deal imo... 49k will be still be loud and look decent on tv. I think they need to charge $65 instead of $75 for some of these higher profile games. just a little difference like that makes it look a lot more affordable to john q emaw.
-
this is why there is absolutely no need to schedule big names for out of conference and why i laugh at kstate fans that think we should. kstate fans as a whole would much rather have ten dollar tickets and beat teams by fifty then have to pay fifty dollars or more for a ticket with a chance to lose. i mean, we're not even going to sell out miami. :frown:

I still think it would be different if the game was at 1:00 or later. Hotels are already sold out, so anyone who buys a ticket last minute will have to leave early that same day from wherever.

meh... i'm not going to be too frustrated we will still be getting a nice lil cash purse from this game compared to a game vs North Texas or New Mexico or another crap non-con game. Yeah I wish we were going to sell out, i think it would happen if tickets were 15 bucks cheaper, or the game was not at 11 but ya know what, selling out the season minus Miami and drawing 49k+ every game with slightly reduced seating this season ain't bad.
-
The good thing about this year, and this is to John Currie's credit, is they sold those $99 season tickets back in March to the upper corners. With ~500 empty seats this time it will still look like a sellout because people will just spread out in the single gaps. There won't be empties in the upper deck corner. There will be empties in the top few rows of the bleachers, but those never get on TV anyway.

500*18/49500 = 0.182 extra seating inches per person.

National TV, exposure, and recruiting. In theory. Obviously, Snyder can't recruit and exposure is irrelevant. But, for a guy like Gundy at OSU or Pinkel at MU, guys who want to promote their shiny new facilities, elite uniforms, etc., there is certainly benefit in playing a nationally televised game against Arizon State over playing Missouri State on the internet.

great point. we've needed to solve the "upper deck corners" problem for years so props to currie for getting that done. that is what I like to call a "red currie" move -- spicy, powerful and bold. he still needs to cut down on his "yellow currie" moves still though, i.e., over-compliance, frank, etc. these are bland, weak moves that do not inspire. however overall he is a pretty tasty athletic director.

i agree to. whoever has been doing ticket marketing for the past four years or so has been doing great imo. parts of the stadium that were never filled are now filled and they are being kind of creative in how they are doing it. getting people in the stadium is great.

it is my strong feeling that the recent records, bowl games, uniforms, shiny new facilities, social abilities of respective staffs and recruiting philosophies of those above staffs have about one billion times more relevance than whether or not they have a non conference game on tv against arizona state or not. that one somewhat big non con game a year is irrelevant imo.

isn't now about the time that they start that "buy tickets and donate to soldiers and their familys at ft. riley so we can get a sell out and they will come and cheer for the other team" thing?

Better than yesterday but not great day for ticket sales. Don't have exact numbers and probably won't get any updates from here on with the Miami game. Ticket office sources are hella busy trying to get the sell out
1 ticket left for UT until the possibility of returned tickets (minus SRO/limited view seats) 27 tickets (minus SRO/limited view seats) left for Tech until the possibility of returned tickets. (there will be 500 section 28 GA seats made available for student groups or organizations to buy, if they do not buy all 500 by October 1st they will go to the public) .
-
1 ticket left for UT
Section 420, Row 25, Seat 17 (I don't know why I think it's cool that I can easily get this information).

I never would have looked without your insidery info. Never discount the worth of your insidery info. The ticketing department deserves credit for implementing that function, but that function is worth a fraction of your info.

So did we end up selling out the Miami game? I don't remember hearing we did, so probably not.
Also, the K-State allotment for the game at West Virginia is now sold out. And I seem to remember reading on some thread somewhere that they'd sold theirs out (not willing to go to the length of checking their tickets though). So I guess that means the whole stadium is sold out?
(Plenty still available on StubHub and the like, just probably not all that many in the K-State sections.)
-
Guy on GPC is saying that the only games we have tickets left for is some that NT just returned for this weekend and a handful of tickets for TTech. So, I'd just call it a sell out for the entire season.
-
But did we sell out Miami?!?!? :dunno: :horrorsurprise: :runaway:

probably not. i think announced attendance was 48k and there is no way we wouldn't announce 50k+ if it was sold out.

ended up sellling 49,562 tickets to the Miami game. Had tickets bought go un-used. Had some North Texas tickets become available but they were not North Texas tickets. There was a bulk order that was returned. There are still SRO tickets for all of the remaining games and Tech is still expected to return 300-500 tickets, UT is expected to return tickets too, unless it starts to shape up like a defacto Dr. Pepper Game. It looks unlikely as is right now that they will sell section 28 seats for Tech, Ok State, or any other remaining games as long as it is mostly filled with GA students.
A lot of conversations are starting to be had about creative ways to add a couple hundred seats/tickets here or there. One of which (and my favorite) is a Party Deck/Bridge SRO/GA Style thing that would go above the Band/Harley entrance area. In the brainstorming stages nothing anywhere near concrete or even far enough to start thinking about logistics or anything along those lines. We have some real creative fucks in our AD right now. Future upcoming stars in the landscape of college sports.
Away tickets are selling pretty well at all locations. We took out the max at all away games except WVU. Do not know exactly how many we took for them.

The best plan would've been to never extend the lower bleachers in the first place when we expanded the first time. They're never full because those seats are terrible and the lower ones are behind the End Zone Fun Zone and they're always empty and I hate them and want them gone.
:frown:

aside from crazy amounts of advertisement, the K is beautiful.
Notwithstanding, party porch/GA would be amazing at BSFS. Areas like these are basically the norm in pro stadiums. Livestrong has one too. It's only a matter of time for college venues. Probably won't be too terribly succesful w/o alcohol though. Location - NE corner makes sense, but it really needs to be filled in with bleachers. period. A restuarant overlooking the south end would work well too.

I AM JUST A NON-RACIST DUMB IDIOT WHO SOME TIMES DRINKS TOO MUCH AND SAYS DUMB crap IN SOCCER THREADS AND HAS SOURCES INSIDE THE K-STATE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT DEALING WITH TICKETING AND MARKETING, AND SOME SOURCE WHO JUST LEFT THE KU AD FOR A JOB WITH THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS. I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO RANDOM TICKETS LAYING AROUND IN THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT AND CAN'T HELP YOU GET TICKETS TO SOLD OUT EVENTS OR FREE TICKETS.*************
Well, I know exactly who your source who's leaving the KU AD for the Spurs is. I bet Beems knows, too.

Said source doesn't know that he/she is a source. I have family members who are real tight with the source and the sources family, all of which like to talk so i guess that makes her a secondary? source that she doesn't know about?

Scott, I hate to tell you this, but this thread just is not as super secret as the soccer games at Johnny Kaw's. Minorities can see this information that you are giving out, so you lose and EMAW wins.

Lol no one pm'd him, just another ploy for attention per usual with lookatmewildcat
-
As I predicted earlier: KU returned more tickets and they are going on sale today
