scroll down to the boys 100 meter final. There you will see a sophomore DeMarcus Robinson in 2nd place. The time is solid but not spectacular. But what makes this notable for your all-burner, speed, etc. teams is who he defeated. You will see a Isiah Young of Junction City in 8th place in that particular race. Isiah placed 3rd at the olympic trials in the 200 meters and will be competing in that event next week in London. Now, if you defeat a future olympic sprinter who is 2 years your senior I would think that qualifies you for a burner team. Robinson is obviously one of our fastest players and looked pretty quick on that return for a TD in the spring game.

I'M GETTING PUMPED FOR FOOTBALL SEASON HATTER! :excited:
-
I wouldn't advise DeMarcus to re-match against Young. But I would point out that 8th place 100 in Kansas is sprint champ in SEC. Young won the SEC 200 meters this spring.
perhaps DeMarcus will start doing what he's asked to do for his position in this offense. the kid has some talent.

Is part of the problem the fact that Wichitainans cannot pass block?
-
So let me get this straight, a person who is going to be in the Olympics in the 200 didn't participate in the race as a high school senior?
-

I'm guessing that to be part of the problem. I think if Pease knows everything he's doing and Demarcus does everything he's supposed to do then Hubert doesn't see the field.

yep. it is crazy how some of these kids develop. a few years ago a kid out of wichita named Oliver Bradwell finished 5th or so as a junior in the kansas 6a 100. The following year he wasn't eligible but ran summer track and had the fastest 100 in the nation. He then won a spot on the USA 19 and under team and competed at the world championships.
Newman ran an 11.0 as a senior to win state. A few years later he was Big 12 sprint champ running 10.2s and competing very well against future olympic champ justin gatlin.

oh man thanks for sharing this manhatter because myself, along with members of the all burner selection committee are having lunch today to start mapping out our all-burners. i have a meeting this afternoon with members of the all speed merchant committee as well, i have a sneaking suspicion that this information is going to be discussed in depth during both meetings. thanks again, go cats.

It would seem to my LFBIQ that learning the zone reads would be very tough, more so for RBs that dominated in HS by their ability to outrun defenses.
-
I'd put The Manhatter as the early favorite for the 2013 CASSY for Best Thread Title.

Would be good for him after his snub this year with the Tre Biscuits thread.

Upon hearing that Demarcus was not, in fact, going to transfer:
Well looks like the all-burner team just got a little more crowded.
:gocho:

Hatter: with Hubert, Pease and Demarcus in our stable, do you think we'll see the much talked about, long awaited...
..THREE HEADED MONSTER?

no

I'll just say it I guess, I was kind of disappointed in that hatter response
-
well crap.

yeah well. I'm starting to feel the playing time this year at RB is going to be something like 60% Pease, 30% Hubert, and 10% Demarcus.
I typically start jabbing myself in the leg with a phillips screwdriver when Robert Rose gets on the field.

Hydras have a dominant head. Our 3HM can too.
-
Speaking of burners... kid that won like all of those races, Terrance Thomas, appears to have been high on us as a CB recruit, but it looks like he headed to Butler and I can only find track stuff on him now. Is he out of football? Makes me a little sad. Could use that kind of speed at CB.

:sdeek: WUT

When are you rubes gonna realize that Hubert, pease, demarcus, and rose are all the same back? You have to mold them together to make a Daniel Thomas.

They're not the same back. At all. I guess they're all black? But beyond that, they're all quite a bit different.

we need a josh scobey type. currently our QB is the closest thing we have to one.

Is Scobey the most overlooked rb in cat history?

I dunno, I look at him pretty hard

No, that has to be either Logan Dold or Lamark Brown. I have to keep reminding myself that those guys both played running back for the Cats.
-
ummmm, sorry, I should have been a little more specific. In comparison to other KSU rb's, is Scobey the back that gets the least amount of recognition from today's cat fans for what he did while he was here?
-
Probably up there with Mike Lawrence, Eric Hickson and J.J. Smith

I bet it turns out being 70% Hubert, 25% Pease, 5% other, and I'm okay with that.

I, for one, tend to overlook any rushing statistics not done by Sproles, Roberson or Bishop
EDIT: What does this feature do? <sse> </sse>

There are quite a few Cat fans around my age, 22, who don't know who Josh Scobey or David Allen are. It's pretty depressing/embarrassing.
-
IIRC correctly, his middle name is Paine (maybe Payne). "That was awesome."
-
remember when we played louisiana tech or whoever and their kicker was named josh scobee and he was kicking to josh scobey? wow
-
Different spellings (Scobey, Scobee), but YEA!!!

every year at fantasy drafts i do a double take and realize it's the kicker. :frown:
-
Hey, Wes. Why don't you ask SD if he edited his post before you accuse me of Luke-ing something?
-
I didn't. good burn wes.
-
Fair enough, I misread it then. My apologies to you both.
-
I TOTALLY DID
-
Gahhh!!! :shakesfist:. That's the last time I forget to use quotes.
-
I TOTALLY DID
 I had to turn my head away from my office window so that nobody would see me laughing when I read this.
-
Hickson is the most overlooked back. Scobey was better, but better remembered than Hickson.

David Allen? :dunno:

And lo! A fourth head Rose from the depths of hell.

Hickson is the most overlooked back. Scobey was better, but better remembered than Hickson.
he was terrible. lawrence was better when they were playing together but hickson got most of the carries for whatever reason.

He had the most career rushing yards at Kansas State before Sproles. Hard to call that terrible.

Well, he was no David Winbush, but who is? (Just for Beems if he is cruising the board.)
