Torn Meniscus. He's in a brace and on crutches. Plans to be able to walk on it in 6-7 weeks and then build up from there

The only troublesome thing about a torn meniscus is that it usually isn't caught for a while.  It's not like an ACL where it pops and you're down immediately.  So if he did any extra damage to it since the tear...

Title: Re: Nigel Malone
Post by: Shacks on June 28, 2012, 10:51:44 PM
I tore my meniscus towards the end of July right before the start of my senior season back in high school.  I had a pretty severe tear (when I went under the knife a few days later the surgeon had to remove the entire portion I tore which is now replaced by scar tissue, typically they try to fix it up and push it back into place).  I was able to start rehabbing it about three weeks after the surgery and after three weeks of rehab I was ready to play, so six weeks total.  Missed the first three games, but I tore it about a month later than Malone plus my high school doesn't have as elite rehab and athletic trainers as Kansas State.

Malone should be good against Miami and maybe even Missouri State depending on how cautious the coaches feel and how quickly he recovers.  However...my speed/acceleration was never the same after that injury.  It wasn't a big deal for me because I weighed 265-270 and played OL/DL, but I did lose a few tenths of a second off my 40.  Hopefully Malone's tear wasn't as serious as mine.

i was at 'station tonight with some friends and saw you walk out the back door but i thought you were just bouncing in the back so i gave you a minute and ordered a drink and then went to the back to chat you up but you weren't there so i thought maybe you were in the bathroom but i waited and you still weren't there so i asked the bartender if "jake" (not really, but you know) was working tonight and he said you left already.

this is just going to give nigel time to save up a bunch of interceptions that he would otherwise be having in practice, etc and so when he gets on the field he will be making pics all day long and all night, my guess he will be like a pic machine for the rest of his career at ksu.  9 in his first game? lol who knows.  oh well, we will all be there to see it in action, can't wait.  i might make a special lunch that day to have before the game, thoughts?

yeah, bfd.  he'll be fine in a few weeks, and won't be bothered again until he's 40 and his uncushioned leg bones start rubbing against each other with every step.

Ouch... That one hits home  :sdeek:

3d scan and print new leg bones?  :dunno:
You''ll just break them

To put this in perspective, our other CB  Chapman got one pick last year, he had no idea what to do with the ball once he had it and was slow as eff once he finally took off for the endzone. The 48 year old baseball player from OSU was running with him stride for stride.

eff

The Scheme Doctor working his magic in the summer

This is an excellent opportunity for Nigel, a self-declared Manhattan hater, to recoup and feel the love that our fans are going to shower him with during his recovery. By the time he fully recovers, he will bleed purple, and that will elevate him to elite status during the season. Just think of how good this kid is going to be at football when he really wants to be here. :excited:
