Big 12 signs a two year extension to have the Conference Tourney here in KC through 2016. :emawkid: :excited:
-
-
Congrats MIR. You've earned this one.

Even better, I believe that the Big 12 Tourney can be the only BBall tourney (The Big 12 has the right of first refusal) in town until 2016 and after if we keep it there.
So much for Muzzu bring the SEC tourny into town.

lol at the idea that the SEC tourny would come to KC
-
imo, the SEC was never coming to town and the gov of Missouri played his hand to get the Butthurt12 to jump and block the move that was never going to happen by re-upping. Win/win for MU. They have their confy and our taxes.

It was a joke for them to ever think it was a possibility. Can't wait for St. Louis to laugh at them for trying to bring it to that Big 10 city.

Who wants to pound some brews at the Cashew then take our new streetcar down to watch KSU v. Notre Dame in the Big 12 title game?

Money rules errthang, and the tourney in KC hemorrhages money. Grats to the Big 12 ADs for not acting like giant buthurt babies.

Man, no one gives a damn about those taxes. The State of Missouri's cut of the sales tax generated over those four days is minuscule. Stuff like this has local impact not statewide. You think people in KC reap rewards from the Valley Tournament in St. Louis? Certainly not worth considering not maximizing the conference dollars by having it somewhere else that doesn't care.
-
I should be moved in downtown next year by January. Maybe I can host my first MOAP by then.

I agree re: the state level, but the local level is still Missouri and Nixon still has interest in benefiting that area via events that draw that many people to a Missouri city to stay, eat, drink, and attend a huge tournament. Enough interest to play a simple game of saying that they may be interested in hosting an SEC tournament in the same town the Big12 has been so successful hosting one in.

Hopefully it moves to Dallas in 2017. eff Missouri

Fanning, if this scenario happens, I will show up and buy your ticket and drinks and we will burn that rough ridin' town to the ground. Hell, I may even let you hug mrs rex again.
