Sounds like he shot himself in the chest.  Probably some strange polynesian ritual.

There was one of these last year w/ another NFL'er.  That guy did it so that his brain could be studied.  He blamed his depression on damage to his head from his career.

also, here is the NYtimes link for uncle Jr. http://www.nctimes.com/news/local/oceanside/exclusive-football-great-junior-seau-dead-in-suicide-source-says/article_bccb943a-ba7e-56f3-8756-13d9c81a8258.html (http://www.nctimes.com/news/local/oceanside/exclusive-football-great-junior-seau-dead-in-suicide-source-says/article_bccb943a-ba7e-56f3-8756-13d9c81a8258.html)

If they didn't want concussions, maybe they shouldn't have played football.  (https://goemaw.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fthe-mainboard.com%2Fstyles%2Fdefault%2Fxenforo%2Fsmilies%2Ftwocents.jpg&hash=fb05aa2969250b482609b1e07d9b7cbbd431ac10)

I'm afraid football may become a nothing more than a game of 7 on 7 in our lifetime if stuff like this keeps happening.

"....19 yr career..."

Back then, even in junior high, you went back in the game as soon as you weren't dizzy, vomiting, etc.

This is horrible. We should get t-shirts like those ones that the cancer people have that say "I hate cancer."

I hate shooting yourself in the chest with a pistol.

So, 2 years ago he drove off a 100 ft cliff after a domestic dispute, claiming to have fallen asleep at the wheel.  Looks like he got the job done on the second try.

Why would he have waited on the gun to try the car vs. cliff first?  Doesn't seem well thought out.   :dunno:

Very sad.  I wouldn't be surprised if he suffered from some sort of brain injuries after all of those big hits over the years.  The future of football could be in some serious jeopardy.

Not just football.  Recent studies show things like soccer are just as bad.  It could have a pretty big effect on how physical a lot of sports are allowed to be played by refs and their individual leagues.

Probably had to wait to get the gun for quite a while.  California has some weird laws.

I understand the sentiment and I am not saying you are wrong. Also completely agree that it is always sad to lose a dynamic inspirational figure.

But really WTF is wrong with people?

People are born.
Make decisions in life.
And then die from something.

This something usually has a strong correlation to those decisions.

The guy had a great go of it made millions off the game and was adored by a city for 20 plus years.

I think he just doesn't like football.  Most of the time I get insidery PMs they note that Ian was nowhere to be seen at practice.

In Grossmont CC's 36-7 win over San Diego Mesa, Seau posted a team leading 8 tackles, with 4.5 TFL, 1 FF, and 4 sacks.  He also recorded 2 QB hurries.
