Announcers said he was hotly chewing out Diaz during a Cuse FT attempt for, I think, not getting back on defense.
Amazing how far he's come. Hope he gets some international experience this summer.

I am on team JO :bball:

hard for a big to be a leader.
100% agree
-
hard for a big to be a leader.
Why is that?
-
Floor leader, maybe. Locker room, practice leader, not at all. Haven't you heard Frank go on about Colon?

hard for a big to be a leader.

I think just by nature of the game it works best when your leader on the floor is a facilitator. Just like outfielders in baseball, linemen in football, and goalies in hockey. A big can lead other bigs but not the team. I can't think of one championship level team college or pro that was lead by a big.

Bill Russell, Rick Berry, Wes Unseld, Bill Walton, Jabbar (before Magic), Olajuwan, and -- eff him -- Hansbrough at North Carolina.

I couldn't think of any either, I was just wondering why that was. Your explanation sounds good to me.

Avery Johnson and Ginobili. Tim Duncan is an amazing player, LOL at him being a leader in any fashion. Best player doesn't at all mean leader, see O'Neal, Shaq. The closest example I can think of is the Wolves under KG but to my point, they sucked when they didn't have strong veteran guards.
-
Vocal, and defensive definitely yes. If JO can be a consistent force defensively he will command a lot of respect. When you are as good of a last line of defense as he can be your words carry a lot of weight.
-
If by big you mean only center, I guess Rick Berry doesn't count, nor Larry Bird.
-

That's a list of good players not team leaders. Kareem and Barry, lol, those guys were hated by everyone who ever played with them. Literally the worst possible examples of leaders.
-
Bill Russell was player/coach for christ sakes.
There's nothing that says you have to be loved to lead.
Berry may not have been popular, but no question he was the leader of the Golden State championship team. Arrogant bad person maybe, but the paradox that he was a good team ballplayer -- great defender and good rebounder for his size.

Every single one of those players with DC being the exception played with at least one hall of fame guard. DC played with 5 NBAers at Syracuse and is also another example of confusing the teams best player with being the team leader.
-
Leadership is a myth.

John Wallace. Bold not relevant, all those guys were hard-nosed kick your ass leaders that I hope JO can be like.

Leadership is today's college game is super overrated, unless you're a midmajor.
