Sadler was asked about his future at Nebraska. Without hesitation, Doc told a story that he hadn't made public before, at least not in any great detail.

Doc said that two years ago, a school had called Athletic Director Tom Osborne and asked for permission to speak to Sadler about its basketball opening. According to Sadler, Osborne called Doc and told him he didn't want him to consider the job and wanted him to stay at Nebraska.

Doc said he told Osborne he would commit to Nebraska if Osborne would make a commitment to him. According to Doc, Osborne said he would.

"I've got four years left on my contract," Doc said Thursday night. "I expect to finish them."

   classic Doc.

I hope Doc walks out of his office for the last time with a boombox pumping Journey kicking the door shut behind him so hard it knocks Beau Reid's 1991 academic all american plaque off the wall.
Title: Doc out?

i feel like Mickelson would be the one to hire a SLTH caddie. maybe that's too easy of a guess though.

I just want to hear that Doc's IROC left 57 feet worth of tire marks on its way out of the Corn athletic parking lot with Doc's left hand giving the salute out the window the whole way.

Fat nubb: assistant women's gymnastic coach or something

Why did he get fired?   Did Dr. Tom find out that things actually were not being done the right way?

It would be tough to think of a worse D-1 job in the country.

Guess for Nubb's next coach: some mid-major coach who has only been a mid-major coach for about 2 years.  Has taken a team from about 8-20 before he arrived to 16-14 adn the CBE.  White, midwestern guy.

"You're looking for a special person, somebody who can do all those things and still win a fair amount of basketball games. Believe me, winning isn't everything. You look at the process, you look at recruiting, you look at how things are going. At some point if you do enough things right, the winning takes care of itself."

The job sucks but the facilities will make it very tempting.  I would also assume that Dr. Tom comes to the realization that he is going to need to commit more to that program.  Also the new coach won't be burdened down with expectations and Wilk be given a ton of rope.

Not on a micro level, no hell no.  On a macro level I would hope he would understand the benefits of not having a joke of a program, and also wants to build off of the momentum of moving into that arena.  As pointed out by clams, Doc is the perfect coach if you only care about your program not embarrassing the department and he fired his ass.  He cares on some level.

Could you imagine how much fun it would be for Greg Sharpe, Mitch Haultuss (sp?) and Jank swapping K-State stories after a game?  100% chance that Frank calls up Jank and asks them to round out a Best of the Midwest 4 team tourney in Wichita with WSU/Creighton/K-State.
