I repeat, this is NOT an unknown blog guy citing a "friend" who "works in the TV industry".
So keep that in mind, it's ONLY the Wall Street Journal.

You sir, are no unnammed "tv insider" . . . Ryan Brewer, an assistant professor of finance at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus
-
Surprised KU is up so high, figured they would be around 100.
Nice to see Louisville up there.
-
110 millon dollar disparity?
Also: I feel like we've played every team on the third page under Snyder.
-
5th in the Big 12. Hopefully we can pass Tech after our stadium expansion.

Yeah, my thoughts, too.
-
Surprised Missouri was as low as they were, in all honesty. That's an interesting list.
-
Minnesota is pretty high for being one of the worst programs in college football right now.
-
Well, I feel as though I must remind each of you that this was published in the Wall Street Journal, so please have your salt shakers at the ready. That is no obscure blog citing unnamed "tv insiders" by any stretch.

Ryan Brewer, an assistant professor of finance at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus, calculated the intrinsic valuations for 115 of the 120 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision (excluding Air Force, Navy, Tulane, Tulsa and Wake Forest).
Thank You OB :kstategrad:

RE: WSJ: Football program valuations
Clearly he is valuing the programs solely on the basis of recent earnings and not taking into account potential earnings. There are a bunch of BCS programs that have way less earning potential than KU.

WE HAVE POTENTIAL!

Is Indiana really 3 times more valuable than KU?

Maybe factors in stadiums? KU's stadium can't be worth more than 80k?

I like how, with the exception of 9 SEC schools, KSU is more valuable than every single SEC school.

Iowa State ? 2 x more than KU :dunno:

Kentucky football, must be the SEC neighborhood raising the property values.

Kentucky football, must be the SEC neighborhood raising the property values.
Kentucky pretty much fills up their 60,000 plus seat stadium. Not a surprising number at all.

This thread has quickly become my 2nd favorite thread after the BSFS expansion/renderings thread (which hasn't been updated in forever :embarrassed:).
-
I am ashamed for the PAC12.

I am ashamed for the PAC12.
you shouldn't be, they are just awful. maybe the pac 12 plane to lawrence was real :horrorsurprise:
-
Just think when we sell our ownership stake of Texas. :kstategrad:

Kinda feel like buy Arky St, just for the Scottie Pippin name rights...... that and it's cheap..... :kstategrad:

Major Conference Worth after re-alignment in Billions:
SEC = $4,717.9
Big 10 = $3,474.6
Big 12 = $2,201.1
Pac 12 = $1,769.5
ACC = $1,529.4
Big East = $658.3
Not worried about a stable conference after looking at those numbers. I love Texas! :emawkid:

Kentucky is a great indicator of just how irrelevant Missouri football is about to become.

Umm, I think you mean in millions. If that is in billions, then you are saying the SEC football teams are worth $4.7 trillion. If those numbers were in billions, you could add up the value of every AQ school and still not be as high as our $15 trillion national debt. :frown:
