About as modest of a 20 point win that I can remember. Tolbert is a good player, but Tech is really bad. Forcing a turnover 2 out of every 5 possessions in the first half was ridiculous.
Spradling continues to miss shots and we got bad-Jamar. Everyone else was pretty good.
*Official stats (as opposed to ESPN box scores) often have additional rebounds, usually "team rebounds" which happend when a ball goes out of bounds and no individual gets credit for the rebound. ESPN stats also often miss a TO or even a shot, especially right after a game ends.
-
The .69 points per possession allowed by K-State's defense is the best defensive efficiency ever under Frank against a Big 12 team.
-
weird game to watch. Even though Tech is horrible, the defense was nice to see.

Very impressive defense back to back road games. Combined 136 poss and only gave up 105 pts (.77 pts per poss).
Also, only allowed 13 offensive rebounds in those 2 games too.
Very JYC worthy :emawkid:

These are my favorite games. Boring as hell because they are SUPPOSED to be boring as hell. I like not having to sit through an opponent's run, or bad things snowballing on us on one end or the other.
Ho-hum, workmanlike, etc. Love it.

Lsoc says: :)
-
I've never seen a game where only 4 people score for a team.
I want to make a joke about dropping a deaf bomb, but can't come up with a good one.
-
Good to say Tay, Diaz and Vic step up when shooting the basketball.
-
Very weird game. We closed out a 20-pt road win by going scoreless from the field for the final 5 minutes.
-
Yeah, we won by 20 and played like crap on offense.

They call that a Dobercatin'!

It's Frankball . . . nobody see's any kind of problem when Frankball is a train wreck on the offensive end of the floor, which happens early and often. Just keep hurling the ball at the rim and then go and get a rebound . . . in the case of JaSam get a rebound and then miss a series of 2 footers.
-
kenpom calculated last nights def eff @ 67.5

I'm fine with that offense. Just the stupid turnovers and still a blowout victory is strange to see.
-
I'll take a 20 point victory on the road in this league any way I can get it.
-
take out spradling/saumuels 0-8 FG and kstate shot 57% from the field 26-46
-
0.68 PPP is just a ridiculous defensive efficiency.
The shooting wasn't great, but a PPP of 1.01 on the road, especially when you put forth that kind of defensive effort, is pretty good. I'm not saying we played great basketball, but the numbers overall are solid. We missed shots and had ugly moments, but its hardly fair to call the offense a trainwreck.
kenpom's efficiency numbers have adjustments for various things compared to the raw formulas I use.

Jamar had a bad game, but overall he's been pretty good in Big 12 play. I'll give him a bad game now and then, that's who he is. He'll be fine.

I agree. That has to be his worst game ever, right? I mean, 14 min, 0-3 from the field, 0 points, 0 rebounds, 2 TO, 5 fouls.
Senior. Against the worst team in the conference.

Its an excuse, but this was a classic "Jamar misses his first few shots, gets in foul trouble, and struggles all night" game. I was hoping he would work his way out of those, but he hasn't. And yeah, this was one of his worst games in his career (probably his worst since the Butler game) as far as that goes, but I still think he'll be fine.

Jamar is terrible and has no effect on the success or failure of this team

Based on...?
-
His constant lack of production, fouls, and freshman mistakes.

Is Tech the new Baylor sans Sys hate? (For all sports)
-
His constant lack of production, fouls, and freshman mistakes.
Yeah, Jamar has clearly been terrible in every game (http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/player/kansas-state/jamar-samuels/game_stats?season=2011-2012&stat_type=2&game_type=1&chart1=minutes&chart2=points&chart3=assists&chart4=rebounds_total&chart5=) and had no positive impact (http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/player/kansas-state/jamar-samuels/plus_minus) on this team.
-
With the great defense in the past two games, K-State has gone from #9 in league games in defensive efficiency to #3. Something tells me the impressive defensive numbers will continue against OU on Saturday.
-
What was our TOP in this game? Felt like our low scoring was partially due to running so much clock.
-
lol at abefroman
Yes. Way too obvs
-
His constant lack of production, fouls, and freshman mistakes.
constant? No, denied. Jamar is the face of inconsistency, he was very good against Oklahoma State. He's still #1 in the conference in FTr and #5 in the country.
-
Jamar can foul out entire front lines of other teams.

I really hope JO and Upshaw will be able to draw fouls next year. Shooting FTs is a large part of what we do and Jamar has been amazing at doing it the last 3 seasons. Big Gip has been pretty adept at drawing a lot of fouls. I have little confidence that our guards will be able to help with making up the FT void that Jamar will leave.

Luke Adams biggest disability is being ugly

I bet Angel draws a ton of fouls next year and beyond.
-
Since the Bama game, here are Jamar's numbers =
10.5 pts/g
6.8 reb/g ( 3.1 off reb)
6.5 FTAs p/g
74% FT shooting
The one stat we all would like to see improve is his FG%. That is about 40% over that stretch and 42.5% for the season.
But i will take that production pts and rebound wise. He is getting others in foul trouble and hitting a nice % of FTs. He plays pretty good defense.
He had an AWFUL game. Thankful we did not need him in that game since it was against the worst team in the conference
-

kougar, you are right.

He already draws a ton of fouls. I don't feel like looking it up, but his ftr is close to Pullen last year.

51.9 4th on the team this year. Pullen was 49.1 last year

5.6 fouls drawn per 40. 151st in the country

Pullen was 49.1 last year

IMHO, its more difficult for a guard to maintain a high FTR, especially a high volume shooting guard like Pullen. I think this discussion is more valid if you look at fouls drawn per 40 over FTR.

That's amazing. I love nothing more than guards who get to the line. My initial concern about his ability to get to the line was born out of a concern from his lack of a quick burst/first step. Obviously this doesn't mean a damn thing to ar-t.

Well, he probably won't be able to do that. Jamar is ridiculous at drawing fouls. But I imagine Gip, Diaz, and JO will pick up the void somewhat.
