Title: Jan 9th 2012
Post by: ben ji on October 24, 2011, 03:35:29 PM
Brent Musberger here with you as the Jan 9th sun has just peeked above the Mississippi River in New Orleans, site of the 2012 BCS title game, but I can assure you LHC Bill Snyder has been up for hours scheming up ways to attack Alabama’s vaunted defense.

Led by Jr QB Collin Klein these Wildcats have come out of nowhere this season to shock the country reeling off 12 straight victories including wins over top 10 clubs Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Arthur Brown anchors a defense that while lacking in overall statistics always seems to make a play when the Cats need them the most, and boy will they need Arthur to have a good game tonight.

Alabama is here after running the gauntlet the is the SEC, a 15 point win over LSU on Nov 5th kept them in the hunt and their late season trouncing of Auburn and South Carolina assured them of a spot here in the national title game. Nick Saban is looking to become the second Alabama Coach after Bear Bryant to win multiple titles for the crimson tide and cement his legacy as one of the greatest.

Nick “Darth Vader” Saban VS Bill “Scheme Doctor” Snyder

ALABAMA VS KANSAS STATE, 1 perrienial power with 13 national titles vs 1 plunky upstart from the plains TONIGHT at 8:15pm. It should be a good one folks!!

Let's gracefully pick up one loss in the regular season on regional TV (let's say O-State), go win the Cotton Bowl and avoid the brutal piss-pounding that would result from an encounter w/ Bama or LSU.

Would much rather take a 30 pt beating from Bama and be the national runners up than be the Cotton Bowl champs.

If we get to a BCS bowl this year, can you imagine the odds of us winning it all next year?

Pretty sure K-State would be in a BCS bowl if by the grace of God we go 11-1

Can you imagine 7 weeks of LHC Bill Snyder Scheme Doctoring?  Les Miles hat might go up in flames.

LSU, Alabama, Big12 champ, Big Ten champ, Pac-12 Champ, Boise, Big East Champ, ACC Champ

We would probably have to be picked ahead of a Pac-12 runner-up or a Big Ten runner-up.  Not sure this would happen

LSU and Bama are both very good teams (I believe LSU is better), but the notion that we would somehow win our next 5 games and then have no shot against either of them is just wrong. There isn't some enormous gulf between LSU and OU or LSU and OSU. The SEC only has 2 good teams this year, and they haven't played each other yet.

I'd like to see this game moved to January 12.  We've already got home hoops vs. Mizzou on the 7th and Baylor on the 10th.  Probably best to have a focused anger for those 4 days on basketball before shifting over to angering up to kick Bama/LSU's ass.

We are looking live at a beautiful sunset behind the Mercedes Benz Superdome as these two talented ball clubs are assembling for the coin flip. Former President Bill Clinton will have the honors as the Wildcats call heads…..and the flip….Its HEADS, Kansas State will defer to the second half and we will see Alabama and their speedy running back Trent Richardson first.

Boy Kirk, there is some electricity in the air tonight is there not?

Your right about that one Brent, these wildcat fans have been waiting over 100 years for a moment like this and they are LOVING every second. I was down at the French quarter last night and that place was packed with purple, for a second I thought it was Mardi Gras with all the fun these Kansas State fans were having!

Well Kirk hopefully they will have even more reason to celebrate here in a couple hours. Kansas State, once the laughingstock of college football is 60 minutes away from hoisting the crystal ball over their heads….

If we make it to New Orleans, I'm going to fight some Bama or LSU fans.  Or maybe some homeless dudes.  Who knows, guess I'll just play it by ear at that point.

WOW BRENT, was that a great throw by Klein to end the first quarter or what?!? Eluding 3 separate bama defenders in the backfield and still having the awareness to find their freshmen speedster lockett wide open down the sideline! This kid can play!

Right on Kirk that was a spectacular play by the young quarterback from Loveland Colorado, dodging tackles while still keeping his eyes downfield looking for the open receiver! Lets watch that again, klein drops back feels the pressure and moves up in the pocket and BOOM, look at that stiff arm he uses to “shuck” off Alabama LB Nico Johnson, That’s impressive!….

And the kick is up, and good. The wildcats have answered Alabama’s opening scoring drive with something they have been doing all year, a 10 play 9:45 second drive capped off Klein’s 25 yard pass to Tyler Lockett. We are at the end of the first quarter here in New Orleans and the scrappy upstarts from Kansas are hanging right with the powerhouse Crimson Tide. Kansas State 7, Alabama 7.

I don’t know how to explain what we have seen here in the first half Brent, maybe it’s a little New Orleans VooDoo going on!!! Kansas State, despite being out gained 275 to 135 actually leads Alabama 14-13! The key so far has been their “Bend but don’t break” defense and their knack for big plays. ESPECIALLY in the Special Teams, Tyler Lockett’s 69 yard punt return for a touchdown with 1:30 left in the half has really given this team a lift, Just look at the excitement as they leave the field! They think they can win!

Well Kirk I’ll tell you who has impressed me, #4 Arthur Brown and #2 Tysyn Hartman.  Brown’s big hit early in the second quarter on Trent Richardson knocked the ball loose and MAY have knocked him out for the game, he seemed a little woosey getting up and hasn’t seen the field since. Hartman had a big pick in the redzone midway through the quarter that stopped a sure Alabama scoring chance.

Lets send this back to the studio for an update on how the fans in Manhattan KS reacted to that punt return by Lockett!
