Title: View from the Parking Lot: Rest of season predictos (add your own)
Post by: Kat Kid on September 18, 2011, 02:59:32 PM
The view from the parking lot moved indoor this week.  The weather seemed foreboding as I assessed the situation with my meteorological canine companion Scrappy.  At this point I still had the best of intentions to plop down in a folding chair, among my people in the fields of meat goat.  However, I just couldn't be bothered to make it out this week.

I did a little tooling around the kitchen.  I paired an extra rare bone-in filet with an austrialian cab.  I halfheartedly checked the wildcats progress on score mobile.  Did not feel the need to check in much after the defensive TD.  Seems like we may just have a D capable of keeping us in a few games.  We shall find out soon enough I suppose.

"We're 2-0," jtucksu squeals.  Well, yes, technically some competition has taken place.  However, Miami is our first game against competition worthy of comment by those of us in the cheapest of the cheapies.  At this point, anyone willing to sacrifice any investment in this team is a saint or a sucker.  Any progress represents another step in to the quicksand of LHC Bill Snyder Family Football, any loss further confirmation that there must be change.  This self-fulfilling prophecy is not my work, it is the work of Jon Wefald, Robert Krause and Fitz/Vanier depending on which version of the Snyder comeback you subscribe to.  The facts are immaterial to the conclusion that we are on a collision course with few positive outcomes.  Conference Armageddon is a fitting setting for the repeated displays of hubris by our leaders and fans.

What does the future hold?  Well in the short-term, losses is what I'd expect.  With 2 under the belt and Miami looming, let's get down to biz:

09/03/11    vs. Eastern Kentucky TV    LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium    W, 10-7
09/17/11    vs. Kent State TV    LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium    W, 37-0
09/24/11    at Miami TV    Miami, Fla.    35-10
10/01/11    vs. Baylor *    LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium      14-21
10/08/11    vs. Missouri *    LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium    14-17
10/15/11    at Texas Tech *    Lubbock, Texas    27-24
10/22/11    at Kansas *    Lawrence, Kan.    20-30
10/29/11    vs. Oklahoma *    LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium    3-49
11/05/11    at Oklahoma State *    Stillwater, Okla.    10-30
11/12/11    vs. Texas A&M *    LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium    28-35
11/19/11    at Texas *    Austin, Texas    17-42
12/03/11    vs. Iowa State * TV    LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium    28-21

I cannot fathom this offense being productive against the majority of the competition that they are scheduled to face.  I expect we will see at least one other quarterback this season.  I expect that there will be a hilariously K-State0 backlash against whichever quarterback unseats Klein and is similarly unsuccessful, with a variety of excuses proffered as to why this is.  I expect that the defense will be lauded as much improved (which it will be) and that any criticism of the offense will center around an "outmanned" offensive line and that no criticism will make its way up the chain of command to LHC Bill Snyder.  Remember, this people take it as an article of faith that LHC Bill Snyder is the greatest football coach of all time, that he is the sole person capable of winning at Kansas State Universtiy, and that he is the most virtuous and hardworking person eligible for the job.  Any empirical evidence to the contrary must be explained away.  The vile logic must be defeated, the non-believers purged with ever greater faith and dedication to the one man, program second.

I hope these fools are exposed not for any personal comfort, not with any true joy.  But for the salvation of some semblance of a future that can be believed in.  For some small glimmer of hope for tomorrow.  So that I do not have to explain to my progeny the DoD to a reception of :dubious: .

Well, anyway, that was just the view from the parking lot.

Crazy kids, I can never keep up with your new code words.  Since when is "the parking lot" code for "my ass"?  Whatever, I guess I put it in your mom's parking lot last night.   :gocho:

disagree with OP.  Anytime you add a serious threat as a runner at QB (and a big one at that) along with a significant threat at RB (Bryce will be carrying the mail soon) you put a tremendous strain on the defense.  There are only two defenses with enough personnel in this conference to shut it down.

The offense will be fine.  Our receivers need to hold onto the fvcking ball when it hits them in the hands.  They had 5 drops yesterday.

I think we have a better shot of beating Mizzou than Baylor tbh.  Unless the defense is for real I guess.  I don't want to get into another shootout with Baylor.  Looking forward to Saturday tho, should have a gauge o fhow good this team is after Miami.

I'm really scared that next week's game will be this year's Nebraska 2010 game. The average fan thinks we could win. The pessimistic fans keep saying we won't win, but keep thinking we have a chance and daydreaming about winning. Everyone agrees that it will be a close/good game. Then we get blown out.

Both teams are better than those teams were, but I do think it could be an ugly game like that one.

I think what you are missing is that the team is actually much better than you think. They will win 6-7 games. You don't have to be good to win 6-7 games. You have to be completely horrible to only win 3-4.

Why would any team go less than 9 in the box?  Our O-line is not going to stop people and Klein cannot throw.  Am I missing something here?

I think what you are missing is that the team is actually much better than you think. They will win 6-7 games. You don't have to be good to win 6-7 games. You have to be completely horrible to only win 3-4.

Ok.  I mean, I'll go with this.  It does not in any way seem compelling.  No one has initiated any kind of discussion about the O-line post-embarassing FCS near loss except for Cole Manbeck.  So, I guess I'd like people with some more knowledge to explain to me why the O-line is suddenly good enough to sustain the Offense that is completely inept as a passing offense.

You are drawing way too many conclusions from the first game of the season.

No doubt the offensive line was terrible in game 1. I thought they were quite a bit better vs Kent State, against IMO a much better defensive front. I don't think the problem has been a complete lack of talent, but moreso inexperience. And while overblown, I think the "only 15% of the offense" comments do have some truth to them. As a unit I think the offensive line will continue to get better as the season goes along.

Now the other aspects that need to improve; namely a passing game and better performance from our backs. I will not try to sell that this can be a great passing team b/c that would be too much, but it can be better. The drops are correctable and I think Klein is capable of hitting some of the throws he is missing right now. If we can get closer to 200 YPG passing and 7-8 YPA then I think we can use QB run game, option/read, and some power and be a pretty productive offense.

Apparently this is not clear to you:

Mine eyes have not seen one snap of K-State football this year.  I'm trying to find out what has happened.  The view from the parking lot makes no bones about its methodology.

my feeling is this. kk heard the score and reviews of the 1st game from the p lot and thinks the o is going to be that bad all year but is forgetting years like 09 where the cats barely etched out a 21-17 win over umass at the home opener. that game would've sounded just as bad from the p lot and the cats went on to win 6 games that year including a game at norman where they were in it in the 4th quarter and scored 30 points before surrendering 30-42. that first game also featured an inept line and horrible passing o. don't judge the first game of the season based on this season. judge it against LHC Bill Snyder coached first games from seasons past. we're bad, but we aren't any worse then that '09 team and like has been mentioned before, only winning 3 or 4 games is really hard to do.

Cynicism and doubt are no match for belief.

I opened my heart yesterday, but it is still not true.
It will close again, for it is still broken and not full.
But justice prevails against the infinite failings of man.
Where love still exists there is always hope.

The swing games are Miami, Missouri, KU, TT, Ok State and A&M.  I have us going 2-4 in those games.  The floor is 4-7 (with 2 conference wins over ISU and Baylor) and the ceiling is 9-2 (with losses against OU and the CTR), depending on how we do on the swing games.  I think 6-5 is going to be pretty accurate.

I think Ole Bill might just validate the crap out of himself this season.

And I will love it.

i only know what i read on here and common knowledge was that carson lost us two games last year due to him being so bad, so i'm just assuming nine wins. if things break right :crossingfingers:, then maybe ten or eleven. dunno.  :dunno:

i mean wow  :excited:
