bacon costs $7 a pound (don't worry, i still bought a ton of it). after a little research, which i'm great at, i discovered that your hayseed fathers feed pigs corn and that pork bellies, which make bacon, are selling at an all time high because of a shortage of....you guessed it, CORN.
wtf. isn't this the corn state? get off your lazy redneck asses and grow more corn, bacon @ $7/lb, or pork bellies selling @ $1.50/lb is a disgrace and makes you look like a bunch of lazy pieces of crap.
-
oh eff, great thread. noticed the expensiv'ing up of bacon just yesterday. it's basically cheaper to eat solid gold nuggets at this point. i also still bought a shitload of it.
-
It's just been awfully dry for those western kansas hayseed k-staters.

it's called a well. get to digging. kansas sits on the largest aquifer in north america. if you don't know what an aquifer is then research it, or pay me to because i'm awesome at it. lazy pieces of crap, grow more rough ridin' corn.
if corn on the cob starts selling for dumbass prices i might have to buy western kansas and show you hicks how its done. i'm not spending august paying exorbitant cob prices.
edited to include: don't be dumbassses

Careful, bacon is loaded with sodium.
-
Have to agree here. It's made my summer BLT's a tad more expensive and I don't care for that. :shakesfist: (ftp://:shakesfist:)
Speaking of BLT's, you know what goes great on one? Avacados!! :lick: (ftp://:lick:) Really should be BLTA's

Maybe if you'd stop eating and drinking so much high fructose corn syrup, the cost of corn would go down and you could buy cheap bacon.
-
well, I_have_purplewood, if i could find a half decent california haas avocado in the midwest i might try that. but you can't.
the midwest is filled with lazy corn fields full of crap. oh, and soy beans. whatever teh eff that is.

funny story for the dumbass- clams diet (both liquid and dry) includes no HCFS. thanks for playing, son.

Soy beans are used to make margarine, mayonnaise, and salad dressing, fyi. Not to mention cooking oil.

Then tell your fatass friends to stop, too.

Good thing we're cat fans and don't look at price tags. It is hard to sleep at night thinking of those poor souls over in Lawrence living off ramen and half eaten corn cobs cat fans throw in the garbage.

Ethanol. :chainsaw:

I'm sure their WIC checks will be increased to compensate for the higher price of bacon.

Time to start growing corn in my large untapped backyard garden area. :kstategrad:

Everything I know about western kansas hayseeds I learned by listening to country music. IMO if they would spend less time driving their big green tractors around town and more time using those tractors to plant crops they could double their output and finally pull their weight.

Nothing says brilliant like taking food and making fuel with it . . . we should be taking food by products and making fuel with it.
Hey, lots of people to feed, I know, lets take food and make gas.
-
Don't know if it is accurate, but talk radio guy said this weekend that 4 out of 10 ears of corn in KS are made into ethanol.
-
Ya buy some irrigation pumps you hayseeds!

9 out of 10 in MN
CBO estimates it costs the taxpayer $1.78 to produce one gallon of ethanol.

While I agree that the avocados are substandard here it's still better than slopping down some tater's and gravy with my beef fritter. If I could get just one Joe-bob to look and see what an avocado really is, or eat a tomatoe every once in awhile, or not get second helpings of Ma's homemade slaw, I might make Kansas the 17th fattest state next year. Jesus, who am I kidding?  (ftp://:lol: ) These lard asses will never learn. (ftp://:angry:)Sorry for getting off topic clams...

That's basically what they use. They don't use the corn that you would buy to make ethanol. They use the corn that goes into animal food and stuff like that to make it.

Yeah, that's why bacon is so damned expensive.

typical of a kansas hayseed lazy ass farmer to blame their probs on something else- no water, ethanol, meh, bah,

:bawl: I can't afford bacon anymore because I don't make enough money. :bawl: I think I'm going to blame those western Kansas hayseeds for not growing enough corn! :bawl:

what a joke.
-
Just farm harder, or whatever.

Kay Barnes was not very forward thinking with her Rain Garden Initiative. Should have been a Corn Garden Initiative.
Sly needs to scrap the old and endorse the new. Boom, downtown could afford to redo a road or two now.

I just pray that our EMAW brothers in Washington can work some magic to prevent the government from defaulting on it's debt. Would be absolutely devastating to see petty party politics leave our most vulnerable citizens without the welfare checks they desperately need to buy food and liquor.

I guess I'm just not a fatass who sits around eating tons of bacon all day, but what did bacon cost before this price increase?

I saw a some mexican cutting my neighbor's grass when I got home from work. I wasn't thinking anything racist until I saw that he was actually wearing a sombrero.

Oh good, a thread to put my question,
Anyone know of a good mechanic in near trego, I have tractor trailor I use to hall hogs that's been acting up? At $7 a pound I can't afford to not have this thing running in tip top condition.
oink, oink, pig, pig do away with the pork, the only silverware I need is a knife and a fork

They should stop making "creamed corn" and use all the corn previously being used to make "creamed corn" and feed it to the hogs or whatever.

The only place to get pork bellies in Kansas City is Bichelmeyer's. They have like 14 different kinds.
