how Frank insisted on continuing to play a chase and over play defense against a team that was just nailing 3's.

Hey let's hope we can fly out and get a hand in their face after they've already spotted up, pulled out the slide rule, calculated needed arc and wind speed.

Let's see . . . they have no inside game, we have shot  blockers galore, why not play them straight up and make them drive and NOT kick, or play a zone.

Frank got worked like a bitch tonight.

You know your perimeter defensive strategy is working great when the other team shoots 66.7% from behind the arc aka 14 for 21,

But hey, they only prayer they have to even make the game close down the stretch is from behind the arc . . . so lets over play every drive to the basket and let them kick to wide open shooters.

Fantastic Frank, just fantastic.

Say, you don't think they're gonna run a pick and kick for 3 out of the time out do you Frank??

Dropped into a zone twice and both times got burned with a three. The last time started their run.

Note to LBBIQ types . . . playing straight up doesn't mean a zone.  It means quit chasing the ball, quit getting fixated on the decoy running off the picks inside and oh . . . watch for that guy spotting up wide open out behind the arc.

Also curious was Frank's decision out of a TO to put JamSam on Anderson. And by curious I mean Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

But anyhoo, this is not my forte (being all pissy after a win), so I'll defer back to dax.

Cause all he does is bitch.  If we played Nebraska 10 times I'd play the same defensively as Frank did tonight.  I GUARANTEE you they wouldn't make 60% of their 3's in 9 of 10 games.  Refer to 13-13, 1-10.  TY

Note to the tards aka LBBIQ types.

I know you've seen K-State play exactly 3 NCAA tourney games your entire lives, and 2 of those you were wearing diapers and the other was a women's game.

But if the season progresses how we'd all like to see it progress.   Then a team like the fighting Sadlers is exactly who K-State is going to play in the 1st or 2nd round of the NCAA tourney.    They'll gladly take their chances against our athleticism and proclivity to over-commit and overplay everything and do exactly what the Fight SLTH's did tonight.  Most of the time that doesn't work out, but sometimes it does.   Another note to LBBIQ types . . . in the NCAA tourney where do most of your "stunning" upsets come?? In the games that K-State is likely to be seeded in.

You guys can leave your credit card numbers so I can charge you for this lesson.

Now, I'll leave you LBBIQ'ers aka typical K-Staters to sit back and celebrate a win over Nebraska and positively jizz your pants over the prospect of finishing 2nd and maybe making it the round of 32.   Because that's all the typical powerespect type wants . . . a good strong showing.

Lynch, I was talking at the beginning of the game, but mea culpa for the slight contradiction. albeit we are talking about almost 2 mutually exclusive SLTH offensive schemes the Fighting Sadlers brought to the table tonight.

No I'll worry more about Frank's lack of offensive intelligence once we get to the tourney.  What does our half-court O consist of?  Denis and Jake jacking up threes and being scrappy plus athletic enough to get offensive boards?  Who's our go to player in the clutch?  Does Frank have ISO plays for JamSam or anybody else for that matter?  Our defense is the least of my worries where in 1 out a scrub team's 26 games, they happened to shoot out of their minds.

Fracker noted afterwards this is exactly the type of game you see in the NCAA where the low seed shoots lights out and can take out the heavy favorite.  good news is we shot well enough in all phases to withstand that kind of performance.  hopefully that sets a precedence going into the tourney.

Seed          Round 1 Record
2                    92-4
3                    81-15
4                    76-20

The Cats will probably get one of those seeds.  I'll take the Cats in the first round.

There's like two or three kinds of low seeds.
1, The white teams from non-football conferences or Division I or II conferences like Bucknell coached by rising SLTHs.
2. Athletic teams from southern black conferences.
Middling teams from BCS or power non-BCS conferences.

Best match up for us  would be a 2, IMO.

The "contested 3" is nonsense.

the ease with which the shooters were able to get open and catch the ball comfortably in space was the painful part to watch.  they made ksu pay with a great shooting performance.

after watching the finishes of ISU and NU, I think McNeck and Doc need to spend more time on offense bombing 3's instead of messing around w/ set plays.  JMHO.

a) We did not play good basketball last night, on either end of the floor.

b) No one will care how we won this game in March.

c) This game will have little, if any, effect on how we play in March.

Well, you're wrong they were for the most part contested.

I do recall a few run out and flail at thems. But you talk like they were all like that and frankly, most of them were well contested.

Tried to explain this to everyone on chat but sys overpowered me and made everyone not believe me because of all the combo-fanning I do  :embarrassed:

Um my idea of a "well contested" shot is the shooter struggling just to get it out of his hands.

Not the shooter completely squared up, set, getting a perfect delivery pass with some defender flying out at the last second to "get a hand in his face".

to summarize- it's good to play like crap and win.

Okay some had a flailing hand in their face, that got there just after they released the ball after the shooter had a chance to set, square and fire.

Good point.

Hey, I'll take a moral victory loss over a shitty looking win any day...

in regards to a 3 being "well contested:" to me "well contested" means the shooter has to attempt to create separation himself to even get the shot off...a "hand in the face" basically means you are giving them an arm's length worth of space.

dax addressed the problem.

Contesting was probably fine overall, but the problem was we let NU catch with space and set up shots in rhythm.  Granted, on most nights just contesting shots probalby would've been enough to hold them to slighly above their average and not 67%.   However,  when a team gets momentum/confidence and starts hitting shots like they were you've got to do something else to take them off their rhythm and we never did that.  And the weird part was that usually when this happens its one or two guys, but NU had 6 guys shoot 50% or better from 3.  And 3 guys hit 67% or better, including Anderson hitting 83% and Jones hitting 75%.  That's just ridiculous.

Part of that was probably due to not giving a full effort b/c the guys no doubt had in their head NU's 1-9 record and thumping by UT last weekend.  Part was also probably an adjustment NU made from last time; their players talked about them using more baseline screens to get shots tonight and I would assume that was something we didn't anticipate from them going into the game.

i thought they played pretty well in the first.  like crap in the 2nd except for that little run (ref assisted).  also thought jhr was his normal crap self, even though everyone here acted like he saved the game or something.  dunno.  going to rewatch the game eventually.  might post again after that, if further review shows that i was right.
