Yeah, but they were necessary wins for a reeling team.

He wasn't flawless but he made plays when we needed them, good to see our best player stepping up in crunch time, also good to see his assist totatls benefit from us actually knocking down some shots.

And I'll apologize for dwelling on the negative but how bout that B12 newcomer of the week(it was OSU's Darrell Williams for anybody who didnt' see the full release)? 1 Top 20 JC big starts to find his game halfway thru conference play, and the Top 20 JC big KSU landed?  :flush:

Pullen scored the last 8 points for K-State in Ames. In a come-from-behind victory, that alone is worthy of POW.

It was almost as good as Fred in Casper.

Almost.

Does anyone else have a issue with what went on after the game, pullen in front of the camera seemingly ready to attack the cameraman,so much so that another player had to restrain him. Then the gang signs being flashed by some bench players i wonder what that has to do with collage sports.Could some ksu alums maybe inform me do they teach a class in gang signing in the little apple, maybe the kids were just catching up on homework.Would you ask frank next time he is on your radio show why he allows these kind of actions,it is bush league at best

No, but I have an issue with not putting spaces between your punctuation marks. I also have an issue with your run on sentences. I thought ku was a liberal arts school? Do they not teach a class on grammar? Maybe you didn't go to college like 90% of ku's fan base. Also, I knew ku fans were mostly racists, but I don't see how whenever an African-American raises his hands that it is automatically a gang sign. Maybe ku's liberal arts program should teach a class on tolerance. Then again, you would have to finish your 2 years at community college before you could enroll there and take the class.

Yes.  The return to Jim Wooldridge basketball is going to be hard for all of us.

It will be interesting to see how he finishes for All Big 12. He's now 2nd in scoring, top 15 in FG%, Top 10 in assists, Top 15 in steals, Top 10 in 3PT makes, and Top 10 in A:TO.  Certainly will be 2nd team, but has a chance to get back into the 1st team

i used to follow south quite a bit in highschool. as much as i could anyway. i remember pulling up to the state tournament one year and a steve eck driven minivan pulled up at the same time and out piled the entire south team. like clowns out of a clown car. was pretty hilarious. he really got good talent to go to south and play for him and sometimes not even play all that much, ie-bj williams. he probably is a pretty interesting guy.

he seems very different from most coaches.  plus the whole family money/i coach as a hobby thing is an extra layer of interesting.

the minivan was awesome.  i tried to get on an AAU (or AAU-like) team coached by Eck.  he would have none of it but was nice about it.

sorry, can't remember any specific stories.  talked to him a couple times on the phone and at camps and before and after games.

at courtside he was ridiculously calm (probably because he was always winning).  off the court he'd take time to talk to you.

he knew how to assemble talent and get them to play hard and play defense.  when they didn't have the most talent, as was the year when heights was a top 5 USA today team, they still played better as a team and played better defense winning the league.

the most personal thing i remember is that he knew i loved to go left and had his players force me right even though that was my dominant hand.  at that point, even i didn't realize i preferred to go left.

i wish i would have been able to see him in practices.  the only interaction i saw him with his players outside of a game setting was, like Daris, watching other teams from the stands at state/holiday tourneys.

Oh yeah, I know what you're saying.  When we played them he knew I loved to shoot the 3 from deep downtown and had his players force me to drive and dunk instead.  at that point, even i didn't realize i preferred to bomb threes all night because I always assumed dunking on mother fuckers was what I enjoyed most.

i still dunked tonz.  just had to use my right hand instead of normal left.  i just wasn't as effective because Eck was genius enough to watch a little tape or recognize a trend from previous matchups.

Yep.  He told me to my face after our last matchup that when he watched the tape of me having 7 thunder dunks and 9 three bombs from deep downtown on them the first time we matched up that he had his plan for me.  It was mostly tomahawks and only 3 or 4 deep three swooshes each game from there on out.

HCC coach helps catch burglary suspect
By Darcy Gray - The Hutchinson News - [email protected]

Hutchinson Community College basketball coach Steve Eck and an off-duty firefighter worked together this morning to catch a burglary suspect for local police.

The firefighter sustained minor injuries after helping Eck tackle a man suspected of burglarizing Eck’s HCC dorm room, where the coach sometimes stays the night to keep an eye on his players, according to Hutchinson Police Detective Thad Pickard.

----------advertisement-----------

The firefighter and the coach held 20-year-old suspect Daniel T. Flamma-Sherman until police arrested him, Pickard said. Now, Flamma-Sherman is facing charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and felony theft.

The incident started at about 6:30 a.m. when Eck, 55, spotted a man taking a bag with his belongings from his dorm room, Pickard said.

Flamma-Sherman reportedly fled from the college dorm when Eck tried to stop him, and the basketball coach gave chase.

An off-duty firefighter on his way home from work saw the two men running, and the firefighter “helped capture the suspect,” Pickard said. The firefighter didn’t need medical attention for the injuries he received amid the scuffle, according to Pickard.

Flamma-Sherman, of Blue Springs, Mo., is facing a charge of aggravated robbery because “a person was injured during the commission of the crime,” Pickard said. Flamma-Sherman was taken to the Reno County Jail and likely will appear in court Wednesday.

“It’s nice when someone helps police, but we don’t want them to be injured. It’s a double-edged sword,” Pickard said. “We can’t condone someone chasing someone down and tackling them because they could be seriously injured.”

Police still are looking for other suspects in the alleged dorm burglary and are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Hutchinson Police Department at (620) 694-2831 or Crime Stoppers at 694-2666.

Eck declined to comment. The firefighter’s name was not released.

Pickard said Flamma-Sherman had no ties to the college.
