Just seems if you can't slash to the basket you can't score with this.
Curt=nuthin
Jamar= AWOL
Rod= no shots
-
i think it hurts mcgruder the most. it should help the posts, except maybe jhr, who might not be able to handle catching and moving at the same time. russell should benefit as much as anyone, if he gets minutes.

Here is a proven offense geared to teams that lack the quality big man. The High Post, more than any other offense, allows you to utilize the skills of your smaller players. By having four interchangeable positions and opening the floor to cutters, this offense will suit coaches from junior high to the intercollegiate level. With today's pressure defenses, it is extremely important to incorporate an offense with back cuts and driving opportunities. The High Post Offense fulfills these needs.
-
This seems like an odd time to be bitching about the offense.
-
Threes are fools gold.
-
Put McOrebs at the high post? and keep JHR's ass on a wing when he is the only big. Grudz can make lay-ups, rebound, and pass.
(I'm fairly MBBIQ, but like to contribute)
-
Seems like putting your post player (JO) in the high post position would make sense here.

Also seems like having someone that can actually hold on to the ball in rebounding situations would make sense as well. Grudz hasn't been doing much in this offense. I've seen JO lose some rebounds and have a phenomenal dunk. I've seen Rodney have a similar dunk with two hands last year. Having JO on one side would take away a big man from one side of the court and that would open up the lane for drives on the opposing side. JO does being tall the best.
I'm not saying this makes conventional sense, but when JO is our only big on the court, I'd rather have our best offensive rebounder near the basket. I'm not saying my plan is bullet proof. It's just an idea.

there is nothing more beautiful than 95 going to the rim with it. nothing.

+1
Henriquez with his back to the basket (far away from the basket) is our best offensive positioning for him. Tall enough to see the floor, not a horrible passer, and he'll be sure to not shoot (except for the times he drives the lane and dunks on bitches).
-
I waiting for JHR to start taking some late-night like 3s.

It's gorgeous, you can really see all of his 95 eval points at work. All I wish is that he would wear a headband or an armsleeve (both?) or maybe some knee-high socks. Maybe it will come in time.
-
95s 360 spin in the lane yesterday :love:
I mean seriously, there's no one in the league who can guard him.
-
A "the new offense was built to destroy KU" talking point needs to be developed, run with...
1.22 points per possession, 62.5% eFG%; ridiculous.

hilton magic.

Wish Nick could play more, that 1 drive he had was nice.

Looking at the recruitment of Jones and the assumption that Lawrence will come to KSU on scholarship, I wonder if this is something the coaches want to do long term?
This team has a lot of guys in the 6'4-6'6" range that are long and can defend. As long as you have a good post guy to distribute the ball from the high post (JHR was glorious at this yesterday), it seems like this is something our roster next year, and the year after, is kind of set up for.
I think there are some serious benefits to recruiting a bunch of swingmen (which we've never had difficulty with) and tall combo guards at this level. On defense, they looked like they could swarm, and on offense, it seemed like the speed at which they moved around on offense really caused KU problems down low. Maybe this offense is a good long term strategy with the players we seem to bring in on a consistent basis?

So you think it's more valuable to put a jump shooter on the high post because he had a tip dunk once? I don't know why people want to make Rodney something he isn't.

It was a Two (2) handed dunk!

no bitches below though :dunno:

Yeah, it was. That's like his fav thing the the world to do. Recognize a situation where he can get the first step on a pair of defenders looking for the kick outside and then BOOM roasted

LBBIQ opinion here:
All of our guards seems to have at least "decent" ability to do something when driving with the basketball. None can just blow by you, but multiple times it seems that when they (Irving/Russell/Sprads to a lesser extent) get a bit of a lane and they attack they can create their own shot once in the lane.

Irving and Sprads I disagree with. Thing with Nick is you don't realize how big he is until he is screaming down the lane at warp speed. He leaves no choice but to foul hard or let him go. Sprads will look to dish, Irving can kinda make things happen... But neither to the extent that I believe Nick, 95 and Canada can. Jmlbbiqo

i think this is what huggins has always tried to do

If nick doesn't get branderspilled I think he will be really good

Great talking point. Quite a bit different than the version of the triangle Wooly ran, but still has the concepts.

Also, thank you to meek for using PPP numbers to back up the improvement.

is anyone else a little unnerved at how much underwood has been taken to the forefront? hciw for when frank bails? :ohno:

My LBBIQ eyes see way more good looks for Sprads, McGruder, and Jake then we were getting in December. Curt looks a little lost at times but he seemed to play within what he was asked to do against ku and ou and didn't really make any offensive mistakes.
We're not a great offensive team and we ain't gonna be this year. BFD.
Fear the Beard. Free Kelly. Retire 30.

I think Unds has been HCIW for at least this season and last.

manbeck also had a big new offense article yesterday.

slightly OT observo: are we better later in the shot clock than we are earlier? last year it seemed like we shot quicker and when we held it we weren't as good. this year it seems like the opposite, though I have no stats whatsoever to back this up, only memory of shirt tucks being upset with early 3's getting chucked. we also seemed to be better/more efficient in transition/getting the ball up the court so that may lead to some "early" shots.
-
We are better later in the clock because we stop trying to get other people shots and just let Jake be Jake.
-
We are better when we don't settle for anything but open shots or layups until we absolutely have to. Using more of the shot clock in an offensive possession gives the defense more opportunities to break down.

it also gives our turnover prone team more chance to turn it over instead of chucking and getting offensive boards

I effing love 95 then. KU was the first game where he didn't drive to the basket every time he touched it. He seems very aggressive.

yeah, he's lost in the offense so that's all he knows what to do out there.
