that he is "uncomfortable" with the recruiting process??
I was distracted for a moment, but thought that's what he said.
-
yes and its the second time in a month that he has said this to a local media outlet. Damn those fools for offering HS students before they have graduated.

I'm uncomfortable with a coach that is uncomfortable with the most important part of the process.
-
Just another reason why he has to go . . . really Bill, you're uncomfortable with recruiting??
Because golly, none of the real good players will wait around until 4 days before signing day for you to consider offering them a scholarship??

'grats Beams.

Old people are generally uncomfortable with a lot of stuff. :dunno:
(Supports dax's original statement.)

A lot of things are uncomfortable until you actually start doing them regularly. When you refuse to do them because they're uncomfortable... :flush:

I like that Snyder wants to wait. Nobody else does. Certainly some of the very best players don't emerge until their senior year of high school. Many don't emerge until they go to college. Just look at how many small school kids end up in the NFL.
Of course none of those guys are going to get stars from Rivals or Scout because they're too busy evaluating the high school juniors.
I also like that Snyder has moved to a power game when everyone else is looking to a spread/speed game.
We're not Texas. When everybody else zigs we have to zag.

speed wins...

Of course you want fast players but our ball controll offense has been decent at slowing spead offenses. Now, if we can just install a tackling defense...

if we got there faster, we could then decide how we wanted to tackle first, instead of just lunging...

Thanks for your input, Ron Prince. If you know any strong and large sized linebackers that may or may not be fast, please let us know.

Tell that to Florida, USC, Auburn, Alabama who recruit based on speed.

No one is saying Snyder doesn't like fast players, we're talking about the pace of the game. The longer we have the ball the fewer opportunities they have to score. We do this as a direct result of the spread offenses. At the same time, speed is not the only thing teams look for. Remember when Ronny filled our team with a bunch of 5'7" fast dudes and 230 lb lineman? That was a perfect example of taking the whole "speed kills" thing way to far. The really top level teams have their pick of properly sized dudes who are also super fast. We aren't able to fill our classes with those guys but we get probably as many as possible.

I'm not talking about speed on offense, we need it on defense.. our defense sucks because we are slow and we can't tackle.
-
And no one is disputing that. You're talking about something totally different than he is. "I like how Snyder has went to a power game." "We need a faster defense." Two totally different topics dood.
-
Also, a lot of teams have went to 4-2-5 defenses, which we have been successful running the ball against. Course, we haven't had a qb, so we kinda have to rely on the run.

His rebuttal was about linebackers... that's a defensive position.. anyways...
-
While I don't disagree that we need more speed on defense, I think the weakness of our defense this past year was more the lack of playmakers on the defensive line as it was problems with LBs and DBs.

I love how our fanbase has convinced themselves that if Ron Prince did it, it's wrong, even two full years after he's gone.
Try to schedule a game that gets on TV? Disaster
Improve team speed? Stupid
Recruit an elite QB? Pointless

Agree with #1.
#2, at the expense of size and skill, is stupid.
Agree w/ #3, but we have recruited Elite QB's, they just don't come here. Maybe if we promised them the starting job from day 1 and clear out the other QB's lockers. I don't think i'd have a problem with that.

You're 1/3 tard, Saul. I don't think I have a problem with that.

shouldn't it be into? also, i don't care about non conference games against good opponents either. i would prefer to play the worst teams possible in non-con every year and play them at home every single year. it is fun to go to football games and win. the more you win by=the more fun. best case scenario would be to schedule nothing but non-con home games that the cats win by 70. tough to argue w/ that, although i suppose if you spend your fall months picking apples from the apple tree and fishing in lake erie then you'd probably just as much want to play auburn at auburn so that you can watch it on your television.

I like watch the cats on ESPN as much as the next guy but Mangino's work at KU pretty much ended this debate. However, I don't think KSU can afford to buy 3 D1 home games every year so look for 2 for 1s with the Sun Belt to continue.

we are going to have to go on the road some, no doubt. just be smart about who and where. the north texas game last year was great and so is the '12 against ucf.
