went to Capital last Friday for it, hope to go to Julian this weekend, they're doing a lobster shepard's pie (pot pie).  I love restaurant week every year but also kinda sux0rs b/c places get so pax0red.

it's a good cause though- and who can ignore the "hey lets go to the nicest restaurants in town, in turn, the bum will get to eat a moldy can of peas!" factor of it all.

their lunch selection is meh.  Did Jax tonight, it was okay, I didn't order off their restaurant menu though.  Bristol's "restaurant week" menu is the same it is for the past 5 years.

biggest portion of food I've seen served (if that's your thing) is Jack Stack lunch...it was obnoxious.

Their restaurant week menu I thought sucked but my dining partners had the mussels and shrimp thing and liked it.  I think shrimp is pretty boring.

there's a fogo right near where i live and i see the gauchos wearing their gaucho outfits to and from work, inclusive of gaucho boots, walking around and it reminds me of the scene from Fast Times at Ridgemont High when Brad is out delivering for captain hook fish and chips

and yes- all very handsome gauchos.  why would they hire ugly ones?

I always want to do this, but I can't eat 10 courses of meals.

One diner get the 3 course, the other just order whatever entree and then split the restaurant week stuff, that's what I typically do.

I typically avoid the places anymore, it's usually not as good as what the kitchen usually can make and the prices are now all over the place. I am doing 801 as steak places still seem to be a pretty good deal relative to their normal prices

Mrs. Chicat and I invited a group of people over to our house for a Bang Bang (food not sex).  Everyone brought food from a different restaurant and we all shared.  We had Il Lazzarone, Chingu, Peanut (wings), Jerusalem Cafe, sushi from somewhere, and McClain's Bakery.  McClains and Chingu were prob my favorites.  Peanut wings were solid as always.  Il Lazzarone was good but I think it prob needs to be eaten fresh at the restaurant for peak performance.

Coffee cakes are very good.  They are, however, not crumbly coffee cakes which is a bit disappointing.  They're more pastry than cake if that makes sense.
