"give unto" sounds stupid.  it's "render unto".

not so much lying. dobber thought Jesus was just outclevering what was intended to be a clever question, without really saying anything.

Jesus is big fat liar!!!!

(Jesus, you know I am just kidding. I'd like to think that you have a sense of humor...maybe you could share some of that with some of these non-believers on gE? Thank you. Amen)

besides, they are not exact synonyms.  render has the connotation of returning or giving something back or of giving something in exchange for something else while give is more universal and has more of a charitable connotation.

an important distinction, with respect to caesar's coin, mocat, my friend.

I am pretty sure Jesus didn't feel the need to get in pissing matches, so outclevering is probably not how I would characterize it. It is the phrase immediately after the famous Caesar phrase that I think is more important.

Jesus was pretty amazing. He handled crap like this everyday. My feeble mind is exhausted from this simple back and forth!

I think they both interact coequally, slobber. Why do you think the paying taxes part is easily dismissed?

keep in mind that a lot of the people he was talking with had never even gone to college.  wasn't exactly hard to run circles around people like that.

if he ever said anything about any of this he wasn't speaking English and arguing about what English word is the closest to what he would have said to decide if this ancient guy thought people should pay their taxes when he possibly had some conversation and it was written down later by someone who probably wasn't there if it did happen is so stupid my eyes fell out from reading it.

you're wrong.  translation is as important as composition.  maybe more so.  and whether it happened or not is beside the point.

Libtards love him because he made some passing remarks about protecting the environment and the state helping the destitute. Which is hilarious because virtually everything else he says is stuff that ordinarily gets them rioting and sending death threats and trying to pass anti first amendment censorship legislation. But libtards gonna libtard
