Good point, but I'd still assume that wouldn't happen to the son of a lord.

it gives his father, who hates him, an excuse to kill/exile/rebuff him.  he's supposedly smart, although almost everything his does is stupid, so he presumably could have come up with a better plan.

According to like German TV guide or something, episode 9 is titled 'Battle of the Bastards' so we'll see Ramsay again soon

All the lords had bastards and raised them in their castles, of course Sam's mom and sister didn't get pissed at him. They were probably convinced he was going to die a virgin and were happy to have something new in the most gigantic random castle ever. And obviously Sam's dad wasn't exactly cool with the whole sitch.

the whole story opened with father stark beheading a man for breaking his nightwatcher oath.  it was given to us to understand that it was sort of a big deal.

And since then they have shown that desertion is about the only oath they take seriously. They didn't care that Jon was tapping ygritte because like everyone else was tapping molestown hoo-ars

Yeah I think Ned had to kill that guy because he abandoned the Night's Watch. Sleeping with girls isn't really a big deal.

tapping randos doesn't interfere with watching the night.  huddling with a gilly and rearing her child does.

He was on his way to train to be a maester for the watch. He never deserted.

This ep was alright, although I could use less emphasis on Sam and Gilly. Something tells me they are doomed, but you're supposed to get attached to them so that when they're killed it feels like a bigger deal than it is.

Also, kind of weird to have that emotional scene with Dany at the end when they're like 2 years away from being able to actually get to Westeros with an army. Kind of cool though that her speech was almost a mirror of what Khal Drogo gave way back.

Also still very interested to see what happens to Arya, although I'm bummed she never finished her training.

Guys, they made a big deal out of Dany's speech because she got her dragon back.

Yea, but also have we ever discussed how she named it Drogon? What kind of a name is that for a dragon? That's like naming a Beagle "Bogal."

OK, it was kind of funny how Dany was like "Hold on for a second while I go around this corner......"

Could've just called it Drogo if that were the case. Would be much less confusing.
