At some point, Arya will be considered trained and will be assigned to go back to Westeros and assassinate those pushing the God of Light. Right? I mean, how else will she tie back in to the story unless she quits?

Jon's valyrian steel sword protected him and allowed him to kill the white walker, just as Sam's dragon glass allowed him to kill the white walker he encountered.

I get that, but he was without Longclaw for parts of the battle and the guy didn't take advantage. What I'm getting at is the wights have supernatural abilities but are really shitty fighters.

Because Jon Snow is a stud and much better fighter that white walkers....Do wargs have any special usefulness/significance to the Others? Maybe they have a purpose for him?

Maybe, I don't remember that for sure...he did warg in Summer (the direwolf) and Hodor (Hodor!)...
