Had to try to manufacture runs, they had 2 hits at that point, you can't just wait for a two run homer when the team had 3 runs in 27 innings.

Eh, I guess. With 1 out and a guy on 3rd, only if shaw hits one in the gap does verdugo score, otherwise it’s just 1 run. I suppose if they are confident in Shaw’s ability to put it in play they could hit and run to stay out of a DP but like you said, they only scored 3 runs in the previous 27 innings so I would be reluctant to risk stranding a guy on 3rd.
