Interested in what you would deem the top 5 jobs in America.

I feel like you are asking or hinting at something other than what you asked because there isn't much debate on the top five programs, the debate is in the order, and frankly who cares about the order.

1. UCLA- all of the history and tradition of Kentucky without the loony fans and the fact that it isn't in Kentucky
2. Kentucky
3. UNC
4. Kansas

5. Duke, Syracuse, Indiana, Arizona, Florida

I'm guessing this wouldn't look much different for most. I didn't put Duke alone in the top 5 simply because they can't get any player.

No just wondered.  It just made me think a little bit.  I agree with the top tier programs for the most part, but I started questioning the actual value, to a high-end coach of being at UCLA.

The things I questioned:
1. prominence - sure, UCLA is a high-clout job in cbb, but is it still that big of a deal in LA?  I count Dodgers, Angels, USC football, Lakers, and now Clippers as bigger tickets than UCLA bball.  They have to compete directly with 1/2 of USC football season, and all of the LAkers and Clippers.

2. The support and funding for UCLA bball as compared to other top-tier programs.  I don't think it compares and other "football first" schools also heavily fund bball and there is little pressure.

I would say that there are a lot of recruits in the CA area though.
I would put UCLA below UNC for the above reasons and add recruiting - when there is a great player in North Carolina the odds are much higher that UNC gets him than UCLA with similar recruits.  UK and KU are the same way but obviously produce fewer can't miss prospects.

Additionally, I imagine the LA lifestyle may not appeal to some guys - most college coaches come from pretty simple backgrounds

here's my staff at UCLA--->  clams (hc), rusty (assist hc), mir (assist hc), sys (recruiting coordinator/assist hc), daris (DOBO), sd and limestone (co-strength and conditioning), pete (video coordinator) &  bread (grad assist).

i'd like to bring _FAN on staff but i need him to focus exclusively on hoops before i bring him to westwood.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Where does Coach Clams live in LA after he signs his 5 year, $20 million contract?  Westwood? Brentwood? Santa Monica close to the water?

I can see that side of it, but one doesn't pass on a disciple of Pitino. Tubby Smith can win at a high level, but like all Pitino disciples he runs a clean ship, so it will take alot longer. If Billy Donovan and Tubby were willing to cheat they would be fielding teams of one and dones just like Calipari. A team will take a pass at Tubby, probably a mid major and he will finish out his career their. If the right team gets ahold of tubby smith look the eff out. Minnesota is ignorant if they think they can do better than he.

Also, what is Tech's obsession with hiring washed-up "used to great" coaches?

If I were Tech, I don't blame them for getting Tubby for 3-4 years to get the program to somewhat competitive and wash the stink off the job.  Then I would fire him and try for a good coach.

If fred leaves, ISU should look at Creighton's coach.  He's won the valley the last few years and seems like he could be ready to take the next step up to a major d1 program.

Aslo, TT would be rough ridin' stupid to hire Tubby.

Just spitballing but maybe it's a Tubby as HC, Walker as Dalonte situation.  Keep the 5 star but put a recognizable face on the program?

I doubt McDermott(Creighton Coach) would bolt and leave his son at Creighton with a year of eligibility left.

McDermott, can't believe I forgot his name.  Anyway, I think his son will go to the draft.  And I think ISU would be a good fit.  IIRC, he coached at some valley school in iowa.
