I am pretty sure that RFK Jr is one of those "germ theory" is false guys.

Yeah, this looks to actually be true.

In #blueanon world - apparently only Don Trump is ever going to use that plane.

Reminder to viewers of this blog - The Previous administration left billions of dollars in military hardware in Afghanistan including equipment that could have been fueled up and flown out of the country.

#blueanon/#blueanongE defended it like street fighters.

Now they're gonna rage out (as expected) because our DOD got a free airplane.

Damn, it's rough ridin' amazing

LO rough ridin' L at "the DOD got a free airplane" lmao even.

This is a video of him talking about why he wants to reopen Alcatraz. Listening to him talk really would be hilarious if he was your crazy uncle as opposed to the President of the United States.

So I watched the 15 minute TED talk where the anti-truth statement was made. It turns out she was not saying that falsehoods or misinformation is okay.

She was saying, as the former Wiki-media CEO, that if you want to get people to work together to solve a particular problem (say on contentious Wikipedia articles) that trying to get people to agree on a framework that all of the participants agree on is not the best way to go. Instead the way forward, according to her talk, is to get people to agree on a "minimum viable truth" in order to complete the task.

She talked about how this is the mechanism by which Wikipedia contributors with different core beliefs are able to work together to generate articles that they are all relatively happy with.

You know, pretty horrible stuff.

Long story short, the government bought less stuff in an inflation-adjusted measure in Q1. This is what is used in the GDP calculation.

But, total government outlays (including debt service, entitlement payments and some other stuff) are up significantly year over year.

It turns out both are true.

So I learned something. The BEA report ignores transfer payments. So while total government outlays are up, "real government consumption expenditures" are indeed down.

Having said that, imports ahead of the tariffs were the first thing mentioned in the report for a reason. And beyond that, the future doesn't look good.

Markets are still down significantly from the first announcement of Canadian and Mexican tariffs. The most optimistic GDP predictions show large slowdowns. The bond market still looks fragile in a frightening way. Some layoffs have started to be announced.

It would be fantastic if all of the doom and gloom turns out to be over hyped, But right now things do not look good.

The whole point of the new EOs is to make it more difficult to bring accountability to law enforcement. It is their entire purpose.

Are you going to tell me you are unaware of the protocols that ICE is now disregarding, that were previously in place? I frankly don't believe you.

And coming back from your redirect, what policies should be put in place to ensure that incidents like this don't happen again? And if they do, how can innocent victims receive restitution? Or do you think it is okay that people are left without their phones and cash for indefinite periods of time?

I'm not "you guys". Either you support policies moving forward to improve the lives of Americans or you don't.

The problem here is that ICE has been given a mandate that will escalate this problem, which really is a decades old issue. At the same time Trump is signing EOs that make it even more difficult to bring accountability to law enforcement.

There will be many more Marissa's if things don't change than there would have been otherwise. And yeah, I think that is bad regardless of who is currently sitting in the White House.

Viewers of this blog are reminded that #blueanongE got very chubbed up about SWAT raids of people who said all they had to do is ask and they would have turned themselves in . . . (sometimes CNN cameras just miraculously showed up).

Do you think what happened to the woman in this story is okay or not?

The administration is currently in violation of a 9-0 Supreme Court order, and nothing is being done.

The correct constitutional remedy would be for an impeachment from the House, followed by a vote to convict in the Senate, but Congress has abdicated it's role.

The only question is where do we go from here.

It really puts the lie to the initial justification for Canadian tariffs.

Just read this:

"Because the deal is a deal that I choose. View it differently: We are a department store, and we set the price. I meet with the companies, and then I set a fair price, what I consider to be a fair price, and they can pay it, or they don't have to pay it. "

Spencer Hall only posts on bluesky which is what got me to sign up. Twitter is still way better but obviously way worse than it used to be

Damn, is that due to hating Elon? Or Nazis on Twitter in general? Or do you know?

I don't know for sure why Spencer left Twitter but the whole platforming and amplifying and encouraging Nazis thing is a problem for a lot of people. I don't think Elon would be as hated as much (pre-DOGE) if he hasn't made it a priority to amplify the voices of Nazis.

He and Holly Anderson have run an annual fundraising drive to raise money for a refugee resettlement charity for more than a decade. Jason Kirk donated a sizable amount of the profits from his novel to The Trevor Project. I'm not sure any of them said exactly why they left, but it is very obvious The Shutdown Fullcast crew doesn't vibe with what Twitter has become.
