Got the wings as an app which were great. Nice and crispy w/ a side of an adobe-blackberry dipping sauce. Only problem was that we ordered a dozen and were brought out 3. The server said for some reason it rang in as Half of a Half dozen. So after a 10 minute wait we were rewarded w/ 3 more wings (halfway there to our dozen we ordered). Server apologized and took our food order. I got the Fire Engine #7 (burger w/ roasted pablono peppers, adobe-raspberry sauce, pepperjack cheese and an onion ring). The burger was ok. Came out juicy and medium even though I ordered medium well (expecting it to be under done) with a nice kick with the pepper and bbq. Our food took 15 minutes or so and we finally got the last of our 6 wings we ordered for an appetizer 30 minutes earlier. Overall the food was decent at best and some definite kinks to be worked out which is understandable being the first night open. Service was sub-par and that's being nice. We honestly felt that our table was our server's 1st table ever. No way she was ever a server before this. I had my roommates beers on my ticket and I was charged $5.00 for a half dozen wings while he was charged $5.99 for 6 wings. She got things fixed and still got a nice tip
I'll probably never go back because I can get better food at basically any other restaurant in the Ville. It's a step above Kites. Pretty sure it's owned by the same people as Bullchicks, or atleast managed by the same middle aged woman w/ her husband.
Basically if you want to go to Wabash, stop at the front door, turn around and walk across the street to Aggie Station
-
Well I'll never go now.
-
so why did it take so long to open?
-
Ill give it some time to work out the kinks.
The first few weeks of any new restaurant are a cluster.
-
Sounds great, will go

kites is the best restaurant in the 'ville and you're saying this place is better? wow.

please post this in the face of the people defending tipping in the tipping thread.

Went there Friday night for the "Soft Opening" and yeah the service was pretty bad. I don't believe the kitchen was open this day so i didn't have the chance to eat. As far as pounding beers though the place is pretty sweet I thought, and will stay that way as long as their staff gets their crap together.
-
Hope the service is better than Tubby's. Love the Friday booze burger, hate the crap service. Of all the places in the 'Ville Tubby's to me consistently ranks poor to awful in terms of service. Really want to compare with Tubby's cause if it's worse this place should just #burnitdown.
-
its very nice inside and I had decent service when I was there over the weekend. a lot of kinks to be worked out for sure but I bet it ends up being a pretty serviceable option.
-
The rooftop patio will keep them going even with crap service. If it ever stops raining.
-
I used to work for the guy who is the head chef and he is a really good cook but doesn't have experience at this volume. Probably take him a bit to get all those kinks worked out like others have said. He is talented though and makes great food. He used to make us these Italian sandwiches at work that were amazeballs.

Have heard from 3 different unprovoked sources over the last few days that wabash has the best burger they have ever eaten.
Interesting.

sorry, no. so long makes the best burgers on the planet. i mean the meat is crap and the toppings are pretty bad too, but there is no doubt that the two combine to make a great burger.
-
It's pretty nice on the rooftop, other than the random smell of snuggle from the laundromat vents next door.
-
I will try this place. All these posts give me no choice. Have to find the truth for myself.

There head chef is pretty great. They're owner is pretty douche.

Fundamentally untrue. I had their "Bash Burger" and was thoroughly disappointed for the following reasons that I will break down into two categories:
Things they can fix:
1) 32 minute wait time - I was there for lunch and it took a majority of my time off work to put a flat pattied burger in front of me. Taffer and Chef Brian Duffy would not approve.
2) Dr. Pepper Machine was flat - really? I mean REALLY?!
3) Plate lacked garnish - This is something I would expect from Tubby's but c'mon... can a brother get a piece of lettuce or AT LEAST a pickle on my plate!?
Things they cannot fix:
1) Skinny burger - If you're going to be a burger joint then maybe thicken that bad boy up a bit. Apparently "all the burgers come medium" but I cannot imagine the difference between medium and well when the patty is no thicker than a sticky note.
2) Diabetes - I'm just not sure why they needed to cover the entire bun in a whole stick of butter.
3) IHOP - It just tastes like it's not something they are good at. I had a distinct IHOP burger flashback when I ate the Bash Burger.
On a slightly unrelated note, I decided to give them a chance again last night by checking out their nightlife. I'll give it to them that it was a wedneday. HOWEVER, "our internet went out so we are going to sit here in silence" is just and excuse for me to take my business to one of the other twenty something bars within crawling distance.
Thoroughly disappointed.

Also, rooftops are just glorified patios. If they arent executed properly, then I'd just rather be on the ground floor. So tell me this, why on earth is my only option on the rooftop to urinate a port-a-potty?? Jesus. It's 2013.

there are several more obvious places to relieve yourself
-
is there seriously a portapotty on the roof?
like is there a problem going downstairs to the bathroom and them not letting you back on the roof?
-
i do not want to pay for a meal to eat it adjacent to a portapotty.
-
Welp, it's settled. I'm never going back

well this place sounds great

I'll give it a few weeks to iron out the kinks before I try it. My experiences with brand new restaurants are always disastrous.

Well, for now yes. They have a one in one out system when the bar is full on the rooftop (understandable). However, once you go to the bathroom downstairs, good luck getting back up top with your group. As an alternative, you can use the single person, unisex, portable toilet provided upstairs.

the head chef is a KSU ME grad who worked for iTAC for a long time. really funny dude. not like on purpose funny, just his mannerisms are weird and hilarious. makes great food though. his last name is Bollman but he likes to be called "Bolltron".

Isn't that where Hunam's used to be? Or did they build something in that parking lot?

hunams tore down and built a large new building which includes the new hunams and a tenement structure and this space for wabash bar and the roof over the front of the bar and hunam is the rooftop patio area.
its made of cinderblocks which makes some people FURIOUS
