As far as leaving such things to legislature, we would most likely get the same result. The KS legislature loves hating gays. Yesterday 980 was discussing a new proposed bill in the KS House that redefines the reqmts for foster parents:
1. must be married (in ks, that means "not gay")
2. must have one of the two parents be full time stay at home
3. must never have alcohol in the house
4. never have been arrested or any record at all
5. must attend "a social function, including non-family, that meets often, preferably once a week" - meaning church.
They were discussing how there is basically no way this doesn't pass, because voting against this would give opponents so much ammo for the next run.
KS really wants the christian version of Sharia law.
