Master Political Social Media Thread
« Reply #1600 on: December 16, 2022, 08:59:27 AM »
Turns out paying old Twitter guys $1B out of pocket to not have to buy Twitter would have been the steal of a lifetime.

Hindsight.
I don’t know the specific ends and outs of it but smart business deal people were saying it wasn’t that simple and he was more bigly mumped than that if he tried to back out. Like Twitter, at that point, could have forced him either way. Or at least had a larger action than $1b against him. Something about he would have to show he didn’t have the financial means to transact the deal to get off with only $1b and he couldn’t obviously show that.

he would have been forced to buy, for sure.

If their journalists are banned from twitter why wouldn't they use other platforms. And it's not censorship, anybody that says that is a certified moron

This is it in a nutshell.  Continuing to pay a platform that has banned you is like the craziest crap I have heard in a few hours.

free market gonna free market and we will see how it shakes out.

But it isn't censorship.

I think it’s fairly cheap and easy to just start fresh and not buy some POS. Andreessen Horowitz is backing some replacement called Post News right now.

Yes but it's fair to point out that some of the journalistic backlash to the Musk bans also flirted with the stupidity of calling it "dangerous" or undermining "free speech." Twitter's collapse is pretty much inevitable, although there's still the question of whether people just jump to a competitor or whether Musk files for bankruptcy and someone else buys it for pennies on the dollar.
