I'm going with the Currie setting Bill up to fail or at least letting him eff around for a bit before pushing him out as it is all I have.  This is where we find out how bigtime John Currie is.  Getting the guy the stadium is named after out the door (edit: and obviously not keeping his son on) is going to take a masterful hand.

Right. Currie has probably realized that its best to let Obllz take the ship down. If he made a big push to hire better assistants, not promote family members or fire the bad coaches, (known at most schools as normal AD activities) then Bill and the donor-tucks will see this as meddling. And it will be especially harmful for Currie as the pressure to win and the inevitable blame for not winning would fall sqaurely back on him.

Listen, Snyder is out in a few years anyways. Let him do what he wants and rest comfortably knowing that he's wedded to the program already and you will ultimately be the one hiring the next HC.

QFT . . . while I want to believe that he is a different guy, it wouldn't shock me in the least to see UPKS's 2 son's on the K-State faculty in 6 figure positions in about 10 years.   His wife is already on the faculty, however, I will say that she appears to be a highly credentialed Electrical Engineer . . . maybe some in the know can affirm or . . . not.

Currie isn't to blame for this. An AD who tells coaches who they can and cannot hire for their staff is no better than Wefald running the athletic department. Snyder should be allowed to make his bed and when it blows up, he will have nobody to blame but himself.
