Some have suggested the autobids from the absolutely horrible conferences be forced into a playoff games so that there is more room for the at large bids.
How about the concept of getting rid of more of the autobid conference retards?(hereon reffered to as the contards, similar to our friends the nortards)
The concept is that the NCAA should forcibly combine/realign many of the @#%$ty conferences. At a quick glance, you'll notice many of the contards that receive autobids are in conferences with eight teams, nine teams, eight teams, more nine teams, etc. If these conferences were to fill up to 15 or so teams (similar to the Big XII and Big East) then several of the autobids would be eliminated. If this could be done it would effectively give the teams in the contards an autobid possibility if they win their new conference, but still allow the committee to choose more at large bids to assure that the field of 65(which should be narrowed to 64, 65 is retarded and only because of the extra contard autobid) consisted more of quality teams that actually have a shot at the elite eight, final four, and championship.
The best thing about this idea is that if a contard conference has more than one quality team that deserves to get in, then they can still earn an at large bid. The other benefit is the contard winners don't take up as many spots in the dance just because they won some tiny and absolutely horrible conference like they do now, and if their conference consists of 15 or so teams then the chances of the conference winner actually being able to play worth a damn is much higher.
There's my theory.
