Those are the 2 games i can kinda point to.  If we win one of those 2 we are 11-5 and no way we get left out.

So which of those 2 losses are you most upset with or dissappointed with.

1) loss to Tech at home.   It was our first game w/o Walker.  It was our worst offensive showing in conf.  Outside of Dave, we shot only 9 for 40 from the field and scored 52 pts.  Loss was on national TV.

2) loss to Nubb.  We had a hard time with Maric but our adjustments trying to guard him and contain him can be questioned.  Nubb only went 3-10 from deep and had only 5 offensive boards and we still lost.  No one outside of Maric did anything effectivly on offense

For me, it is probably the Tech game.  Tech was not a great road team this year.  It was our first game w/o walker but Tech did not play a great game by any means.    Our defense was great all year at home in the Big 12.  If our offense performed at a C+ level that night, we win that game...... but our performance was closer to a D

I'm not convinced of that.  If we win, all we're doing is beating a 5-11 team and an 8-8 team, which should be expected in such a weak conference.

"BFD", says the committee.

If we beat Tech, they are not in.  Frees up a spot.  Probably taken by Cuse though.

I don't care about discussing that. Forcing us to go 11-5 just to make the dance is total horsecrap.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I would have rather won the Xavier and A&M games (excluding ku games).

Yeah, winning won of those games would have made a real difference.

I think getting that extra win (TT or NU) makes a difference.  I figured it up and our RPI would have gone from 56 to 46.   If we beat Tech, it would be viewed as a decent win too.

Plus i think the difference from being 11-5 compared to 10-6 is significant too.  Think how big the significance between 10-6 and 9-7 is.  Only a few 10-6 teams from power conf have been left out.   Quite a few 9-7 teams have been left out though

Of course a ku win or aTm win would have gotten us in.   Xavier was a solid team and playing up there, i did not expect to win.  The TT game and the NU game in Lincoln, I expected to win.

Well, no sh.t. But the mere fact that the NCAA committee requires an 11-5 conference mark to just get a 12 seed in the dance is a depressing and dark thought.

No, they don't.  They only require a 7-9 record to get a 12 seed.  Arkansas tied-with or behind three teams in the SEC West that didn't get bids to the tourney.  This would be like if the Committee had picked Nebraska to go to the tourney.

No matter what, short of beating ku we were not going to get in.  The excuses and rationalizations from the committee prove that they were simply not interested in having 5 Big XII teams in the tournament, and the collective orgasm over Tech's victories over ku (at home) and A&M while ignoring Baylor and Nebraska (at home) showed there wasn't anything we could do.

Hell, we're not even among the First Four left out!  One extra win wouldn't do it.

That said, reversing the loss to A&M would have made it very uncomfortable for the committee to explain why Tech gets in and we don't.

We don't know this.  If you're basing it on the NIT seeding, keep in mind that separate committees, using different factors, seed the two tournaments.

Most folks were listing Syracuse, Drexel, FSU and Air Force as the big losers.  West Virginia and Cats were sometimes listed.  CBS didn't even have K-State listed on the "snubbed" list.  I'm rarely a chip-on-your-shoulder fan, but this one just stinks.  We kept winning at the end of the season, yet our standing with the bracketologists never changed.

Stanford disgusts me too. 18-12... some pretty impressive wins - BUT NOT EVEN 20 WINS? A blow-out loss to Santa Clara? (who in the hell is that?) I dont pretend to understand what is happening with these committees - I do understand one thing, we had 3 chances to go to the NCAA tourney... and all three times we blew it. 3 losses to Gay U. I believe that if we win ONE of those games we are in. I just hope that our guys dont get the Alamo Bowl syndrome and not show for the NIT.

The committee is telling us we could have gone 8-8 as long as we beat ku 2 times and UT and A&M.

Yes, because games in December are far more important than games in February/March...

I've said numerous times that the NU debacle would end up biting us in the ass...

it did, in part.

Aside from picking up one more win out of the 3 against ku and one against A&M, we probably had to win both the @ NU and @OSU games to finish at 12-4 (and with that a 3rd place finish).  No way they keep out the #3 team....but that is still a ridiculous precedent/expectation for a major conference.
