1)will you be happy/content with an average of 10-6 in conference play if Huggs stays at KSU for 10 seasons?

2)Will Huggs ever have a run like Snyder did where he went 49-15(77%) in conference play over 8 straight years?

Mine

1)Yes.
2)No.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

    I survived the Dickey/Parrish era.
1) No.
2) No.

10-6 will likely leave us in the same condition as we find ourselved in right now.  12-4 should be the goal; anything above that and we're cutting down nets.

Does that mean, on average, for the next ten years, we will be a bubble team year in and year out?  If that's the case, then no.

Err...if "12-4" is the goal, that would mean a 48-16 conference record over 4 seasons. That would make question #2 an emphatic "YES"

I'm saying by year 10, Huggs has a 100-60 conference record.

1. What's the standard deviation for question 1?  If it means we finish no better than 12-4, but no worse than 8-8, is that the same as a stretch vacillating between 15-1 and 6-10?  Would you be happy with one of those scenarios more than the other?

I'd be happier with the latter myself.

2. No.  But who would have voted yes for Synder in 1992?

10 win seasons are cool, as long as we make a run at the conference title every now and then.

Either way, it's awesome to be arguing this.

1) Absolutely not!

2) Probably close to that.  That is only slightly over 12 wins per year and I would expect Huggins to average about 12 when he gets his players and system in place.

1) I suppose I'd say yes to that.  I just want to make the tourney for 10 straight years and compete for the conference championship once ever 3-4 years.

2) No.  That would mean we'd have to average about 12 wins in conference for 8 years.  I think his conference winning percentage will be around 60-68%

Yes and yes.

Interesting. You'd be happy with an average of 10-6, but expect 12-4?

I'd be happy with a 10yr conf rec of 115 - 45 (0.72).  I'd be content with 105-55.

Yeah.  I guess 8 years averaging 12/year is kind of ridiculous, though.

That's why he's Snyder. Incredible.

I agree, though think the 12-4 conference is a realistic GOAL.
Now with FFF doing the math, that automatically makes question #2 a yes.  Fuzzy logic is not supported by fuzzy math.

1) No!   10  - 6 should be bad year records, the average should be higher.
2) doubt it....has any big 12 team accomplished that over an eight year period.

Like I said, if a 10 win season is the lowest, I'm a happy guy.

If he's averaging 11 wins, keep him forever.  I don't care if he never beats ku.  I don't want us to be one of those fanbases that's spoiled by something amazing but because we can't be the 'best' we decide it's not good enough.

IE: Nebraska, ranked with Solich, 10+ wins seasons, but because they were spoiled by Osborne always being in the top 5 and national championship, they fire him.  They may tell you they're happy now because they're winning the north, but they still don't have a 10 win season under him, and the year they won the north there wasn't a single ranked team(including them) in it and they lost to every team that ended up ranked at the end of the year.  I'm pretty sure that last year when Solich got 10 wins, there were 3 ranked teams in the north alone, and it was in a conference that had the #1 team at the time, probably 6 ranked teams overall.

Look at it in relative terms, if we're winning 10 a year, we're also probably dancing every year, even if we never win a Big XII title.  Major improvement.

I don't think that's going to be the case personally, I think we'll have a better record than 10-6 most years.  But it shouldn't be considered a 'bad' season, especially considering where we're coming from.

Yeah, I change my vote to "no effing way does Huggins have an 8 year run like that."

http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/big12/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/record_book.pdf

Looks like ku was able to do it.....why wouldn't you give Huggins the same chance.  Granted that is one hell of a run and its not likely to happen but I think the chances are better then no effing way.

So in some ways you're asking if I'd be happy if Huggins could replicate what Kelvin Sampson did at OU?

I'd have to say heck yes.

10-6 average over the course of 10 years would be great.  I'm all for high expectations, but being realistic is good too.  I don't expect any Snyder-esque streaks, I hope Huggs can surprise me.  Over the course of 10 years I'd expect a couple 12 to 13 win years, a couple 9 win years, several 10 win years and maybe one at 14 or above.

I think mostly 9-7 to 13-3, with a typical being 11-5 to 12-4.  Bottom line, I expect we will compete for the title or be in the top 4 group pretty much every year as long as Huggins is here....and he will stay as long as he feels he is getting the necessary support and as long as he feels he can get the players and compete nationally.  So that would be a no, I think we should expect slightly better than 10-6.

That being said, I expect around a 70% winning percentage over 8 yrs, although a run started with Beasley and Walker, could give us higher numbers to start with, and boost our recruiting to an even higher level.

It's just nice to be back in the game.

I guess I should point out the difference between an 8 year "stretch run" and his entire conference record average.

Snyder's overall conference record wasn't close to 77%. And both were similar ages when they began.

i would be happy with a 10-6 average.  to be perfectly honest though, i sort expect it to be more like 11-5.  maybe my expectations are unrealisic, but he´s a really good coach.  and he´s getting good players.  at least right now.  unless that changes...

I don't expect Bob Huggins to have similar expectations.  (Me) setting high expectations does nothing but disappoint (me).
